The podcast crew was very excited to discuss the SV-262 since that toy was shown in only one mode and it was the more mysterious of the two. Everyone was impressed with the color and the smooth fit. Also, two individual thrusters were confirmed to be in the feet(?). The single tail fin was also confirmed to have a seam that may split the tail fin in half. The VF-31 was compared to the YF-30. There was a funny bit about the change to the gunpod design and how that came about. There was also some speculation on what the VF-31 might do with the YF-30's overhead "stadium lights" pod. And that was the mystery of this toy, because the pod was visible in the gerwalk and fighter displays, but no one in the podcast had an idea for what might happen to it in battroid mode. They did comment on the silhouette shown in the trailer which does seem to show the VF-31 in a more traditional YF-30 configuration. The rest of the podcast covered other topics.

Evolution Toy - VF-2SS Valkyrie I 《MACROSS II ~LOVERS AGAIN~
technoblue replied to joppewo's topic in Toys
I appreciated the fact that ET continues to tweak the design and has a local fan on staff. The twist to the SAP news was good. I wasn't expecting that, especially after reading the rumors about Nexx and the speculation (which seemed logical) that ET might release the SAP parts on their own. It was a little confusing to me, but if Evolution Toys does indeed start this line with Sylvie and Faerie Squadron then that's cool. Now I just need to see an updated prototype or the final retail model. -

Right. The smaller Autobot car bots have plastic tires in Takara's official MP line. I agree that this not-Mirage is the best of the third-party Mirage releases. It's cool that it comes with multiple faces, too.- 9128 replies

Since it was brought up, I think it would be really nice if Master Made took a break from SD Transformers and released some SD Macross stuff again. I think they would do a TV SDF-1 justice. But whetever happened to that SD Monster?

It jumped out at me too. Especially, the Prometheus. Must've been that p90x.

It looks like the edit function went a little wonky for a moment. Yeti, don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to apologize for Gundam in the US or anything. The show has its share of ardent fans here and I'm only a casual viewer. I'm only surprised with how much it has seemingly fought its way out of the hobby shop and into popular culture. Whether my observations are a misunderstanding or not is anyone's guess. In that regard you could be right. I agree that Transformers has a huge benefit of simmering in the US conscious for much longer. But things tend to move slowly here on the east coast, especially in the north east. Even when Gundam Wing was broadcast two decades ago and became popular I never saw those kits or figures you mention in any toy aisle out my way. It wasn't until the last five years or so when I noticed a change. Heck, I was into Macross long before I ever heard of Gundam. -

Yeah. But Gundam is starting to show up outside of dedicated hobby shops at places like Barnes & Noble in the US. I would say it is getting more popular, but it has yet to be as prolific as Transformers. -

Chrome Gutter (not Snarl) arrived this week. This is my first third-party MP dino. He. Is. Enormous. And like MP Grimlock, the transformation is simple. I had the MP-08X reissue for a short time, but was not happy with the loosey-goosey joints. I don't know if it was a mold issue for that release or if I was just unlucky. GigaPower did much better with its repaint/reissue of Gutter. The joints are solid and I only have two nags: The packaging creates some static cling and leaves behind little Styrofoam pieces. These need to be removed (and a can-o-air is helpful). When transforming Gutter back to dino mode, the legs need to be straight to close the dino shell. Really, check them twice. Magnus now has someone he can look in the eye.- 9128 replies

Nice. Thanks for the tip, Tochiro. I'll make sure to listen carefully to those sections. -

They could also pull an Arcadia and say, "Surprise! The Valkyrie does come with a grey visor the SAP!" at the last minute. But my gambling instincts stink, so don't quote me on that. -

Good points all... I'm no longer part of the early bird group for this release. I've decided to wait for in hand reports and more news on the SAP bundle. -

They might go the way of the Yamato VF-0 Valkyries for magnets and do the SAP parts that way. -

Another very interesting development, and that means more choices. ET's VF-2SS + SAP box set, which may or may not include a Valkyrie of a different stripe. Bandai's teased VF-2SS + SAP. That's more Macross 2 toy news than I thought I would see in a decade. I think I may play the waiting game until ET and Bandai have all cards on the table. -

I second the recommendation for Gigabyte, if it is a motherboard issue. I have a local friend who also swore off of Asus, but he did so back when AMD and Intel were still releasing slot-based CPUs. I had better luck than he did, but I decided to NEVER overclock an Asus motherboard. After seeing him struggle with it, I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. There were other manufacturers who released better parts, even back then. For overclocking, I had my best results with Abit boards. It's too bad that company is long out of the computer parts business. -
Yes! One of my favorites. I was trying to remember the other episode (not The Five Doctors) that Nicolas Courtney was in during Peter Davision's time as the Doctor. It finally came to me: Mawdryn Undead. I remember it being really creepy when I first watched it here in the US on public television. I was also very sad to learn of his passing not too long ago. I enjoyed his many appearances in the classic series, and had a blast watching what would be his last guest appearance in The Sarah Jane Adventures. Whereas other actors may wrestle with or try to avoid being type cast, he embraced Lethbridge-Stewart. And I have to say it again: he was great.

Dust does insulate, so I think you are on the right track. You may also want to think about rearranging fans and redirecting airflow so that less dust hangs around inside the case. I agree that it sounds like a connection issue. The best case is that you are just dealing with a loose cable as SMC suggests. The worst case is that the connector on the motherboard or the drive is flaking out. I don't think it is a complete drive failure...yet... since your data hasn't turned into smoke. If a new cable doesn't help, then the motherboard is easier to diagnose. I would recommend trying out other on-board SATA connections. If another one gives you joy and is stable, then you have a flaky port. In this case, tape up the bad port and avoid it or replace the board if you feel lucky. If after trying the other ports, you find that the SSD is still disconnecting, try another computer. That will help you to determine if it's a software problem. Hopefully, you won't have to go down the rabbit hole that far, though. -
Wasn't Basara's guitar a big hit? It's cool to see Mylene's bass guitar too.

I get what you're saying. I must have missed that line of the Doctor's when watching it this weekend. Or maybe I'm too forgiving of sci-fi tropes. Doctor Who does have its fair share, and you may be right about the second episode.

Welp. I guess the licensing discussion has grown up and should now get its own thread. I'm happy enough to keep living the dream here where options are still possible -- just around the corner -- wish lists are many, and jvmacross holds the line with Arcadia's big tease photo. I mean it's up there again, and he must have copied and pasted it 100 times by now...

HaHa. I can't take myself too seriously on a toy forum, especially one where I am responsible for my fair share of brain farts. I mean, most of us are grown men debating toys. I'm sure there are some outliers among us, but they have yet to speak up.
-
I've also decided that I'm in this line purely for the destroids and the enemy mecha. I am getting a few Valkyries out of curiosity, but I think my limit will be three. I thought about it this weekend, and I have too much sentiment for the 1/60-scale and DX Valkyries in my collection -- no downsizing for me.
-
No doubt, one thing that Bandai has over Arcadia is marketing. And the news this week was exciting. But after taking time to think about it more over the weekend, I do still want to focus on 1/60-scale Macross toys. Whatever I get from Bandai's 1/100 HM-R will be a fun way to mix things up. I do plan to get as many enemies and destroids as I can. I probably will not get too many Valkyries in that smaller scale. What I'd love to see from Arcadia is better prices at some point. Better quality from the factory (less QC issues reported on the forum) and reissues of more SDF-TV Valkyries. Specifically, the VF-1 M&M Super Valkyries that were rumored to be in the schedule. I'm already in for most of the Macross Zero stuff next year, and I can't wait for news on what will come after that. I'm also hoping for a TV SDF-1 at 1/3000 scale. I do think that is one unique way in which Arcadia could respond to Bandai's news of the 1/1800 SDF-1.

I'm jealous. I haven't had the chance to meet anyone noteworthy (never mind an actor from a favorite childhood show). I imagine the real Tom Baker has as much presence off screen as he does on. Moffat has impressed me with how much Classic Who lore he has woven into New Who. I think it is required to watch the 50th anniversary special before this, and it is almost as helpful to watch the classic series Zygon episodes to get a feel for the Doctor's real intentions. To me, it did not come across as any lazy monster-of-the-week, preachy Doctor formula. In this case, I think the Doctor was trying to do his best to preserve the peace and get intelligence on what was obviously a very bad situation. If UNIT or the armed forces of the world were to start shooting at things with bad intelligence, then that had a high probability of making a bad situation worse. Without giving too much away, when Zygons are involved, there will always be human hostages.
