The M&M TV Valkyries would be glorious. I would also like to see Bandai reissue Max's 1S for this line, because everyone should have a chance to own the triumvirate of movie 1S-type Valkyries in some scale.
-
The fast packs are using the darker blue tone/color of the DYRL packs and not the lighter tone/color of the TV packs. Whether it is a 1:1 match to previous releases of the DYRL fast packs and strike parts remains to be seen. We probably won't know until someone does an in-hand comparison of both side-by-side. But, if I were to hazard a guess, Arcadia does not have as difficult a time matching these colors. If you consider Arcadia's 1J GBP release, for instance, the blue and red on the armor in that version is a close match to the older Yamato versions. The only differences are in the amount of Tampo printing and the tone/color of the white parts.

Yeah. MP-10B is excellent.Of all the official repaints that Takara could do, I was glad that we got 10B. I also keep hoping that Takara will throw unarmored Magnus fans a bone and release an official version of MP-10 in white.- 16669 replies

My experience falls more in line with that of Valkyrie Hunter D's experience: there is a variance in the official releases. You might get a good one and you might get one limb or two limbs that are a little loose. Adding in unofficial releases (all the KOs) can make things more confusing too. I had one of the first MP-10 KOs and its joints were very tight, it was almost unnerving. The folding gun was a hot mess too, but these downsides were not big losses for the price that I paid. Today, the oversized versions are all the rage.- 16669 replies

Good question. Having a common base white on the Valkyries may be annoying for some but it makes financial sense for Arcadia, especially if they decide to continue to switch between TV and movie sets (the GBP 1J Hikaru, this new Roy reissue, and ???) Another point that is curious is the amount of markings shown in the new images. Will the ejection seat triangle be making a triumphant return as Tampo or is it still a sticker for this set?

If Arcadia is serious about doing package sets, and doing more than Hikaru and Roy, I might consider buying this. The only downside is this nagging voice in the back of my head which keeps muttering, 'Why didn't you start the VF-1 reissues as package sets to begin with, Arcadia?" The fact that we are here three years after they put their initial pre-orders for Roy's 1S with the stand is a little sad. I don't know the ins and outs, but I thought we would have seen more VF-1 reissues between Arcadia's main projects. As it is, the whole landscape has changed now, and Bandai is more interested in making the older style SDF Macross toys too. I like Arcadia, so it would be nice if this doesn't turn into an instance of too little too late for them.

How timely! I was just thinking about my old 1/48 Valkyries again this weekend. An updated 1/48-scale line that implements the fixes of the 1/60-scale v2 Valkyries? Hm... :-) I would be very interested in that. It would be cool if Arcadia brought back the low-vis 1J and 1A, which had a better paint scheme when compared to the 1/60-scale low-viz 1S.

Magnus was put through the wringer on release day by some members here, including myself. I don't think he gets a free pass. For me, MP-22 marks when Takara made its deep dive into strict cartoon accuracy. Some may be shouting for joy now, but it has left me skeptical of all MPs. I now wait for in-hand reviews before buying. Before, it was easier for me to jump in on a release. I would list Tracks as the weakest carbot release. I don't have all of them, though, so keep that in mind. Of those that I do have, I think the Datsun and Lambo bots are the best, and Ironhide and Bee rank average. Tracks has a good looking car mode. The Corvette is ruined slightly by the bonnet (hood) gimmick that mirrors that one scene in the cartoon. I would have been happier if Takara left it off the toy. Moreso, I could have forgiven that bad gimmick if Tracks had a good robot mode. Alas, that mode is loose and does not tab together well.- 16669 replies

Is this a bundle or is it the super/strike parts themselves? The photos do show Roy's movie 1S, but I'm tired and not really following things, so I'll pick this up later in the morning. In any case, I think this is great news all the same. And if Arcadia is thinking of doing VF-1 bundles, I hope they plan to do some of the rarer Valkyries as well, and not just the safe heroes like Roy and Hikaru. edit: just because

I can agree with that. There are so many other anime releases which include multi-lingual subtitles, even though they are authored and distributed in Japan. It's up to the studio to decide what to include domestically. The fact that a modern Macross series is getting English subtitles with its retail release is unprecedented. But that's a good thing, no? -
The v2 design is classic, but a v3 design that adds increased articulation and keeps the majority of the perfect transformation gimmicks would be something of a nice surprise. The only thing that I think stands in Arcadia's way with any new mold is potential QC.

Or it may be that Amazon is playing it safe with the description for the other eight discs because those episodes have yet to be broadcast. -

Poor Soundwave. Constantly having to scan in a new disguise to keep up with human technology. On Shockwave, I think MP-29 is doing it right. Anyway, I like mine. But I would be up for a toy version that includes additional paint apps. I like it when Takara goes in that direction. For 3P, I have Quakewave instead of Quakeblast. Both the third-party Shockwaves are big guys, and both made compromises in certain areas. It may be the photo, but I don't like the look of Quakeblast's clown shoes, for instance. But I gotta say that Quakewave's feet are too tiny by comparison and his legs are too blocky. Takara's hose seems better than Quakewave's hose. At least, you don't have to worry about it looking awkward if you want to use the light-up gimmick in the arm. I have noticed some people are saying that MP-29's hose is fragile. If that's true, then I hope MP-29 gets some third-party add-ons: a more durable hose and articulated left hands to match with the right ones that are already included. And that leaves me waiting for a good seeker. I'm not a fan of MP-3/MP-11 anymore, so the official Takara versions are out. Edit: clarified some stuff- 16669 replies

Nostalgia---it's one hell of a drug. On a side note, I hope I don't come across as anti-Sunbow. I enjoyed what the studio did with the animated version of The Tick in the 1990s.- 16669 replies

I think the super fans are sometimes more obsessed with the Sunbow animation than they are with cool transforming robots. This MP-14+ reissue appears to be the direction that the MP line is taking, though. And I agree with Scyla, it is sad. The upside is that I'll have more money for other things like 3P releases.- 16669 replies

The amazon.jp "special" limited edition, the 8424 JPY version, includes a QR code that Japanese residents can use to get additional artwork (if I understand the machine translation correctly). It looks like that bonus is not available to buyers outside of Japan, which means if you want to take advantage of this version and that bonus content, you need to know someone local to use the QR codes. The other limited edition is very good too, it includes everything but the QR codes. Here's the rundown from AmiAmi's site: Bonus Footage Special version of episode 1Mission 0.89 "Senjou no Prologue" *Early released version of episode 1 specially aired on special program on Dec. 2015 Mission 01+ "Senjou no Prologue" *Complete version of episode 1 specially cut for BD, DVD. Yeah, those are prices for the limited edition blu-ray. Azrael noted Amazon's price for the regular edition. I haven't checked for the regular edition on the other sites. It depends on the item. If it is a special item that requires payment up front, then AmiAmi will have a note in the description warning customers of that fact. For all other items, they send out a payment request close to the actual shipment date. -

Ouch. That really sucks, man. Having to mess with serious IT-related issues at home is a definite drag. You mentioned before that you were looking to modernize your hardware and get the system back up to speed. When were you thinking of upgrading? Later this year? If you can't get your old system limping again, how much of a wrench does that put into your schedule? -

They must have already changed their price, then. When I was ordering, there was no discount and the price plus shipping was 9000 JPY. I went with CD Japan because I have a bunch of points that I can use and that dropped the price down all the more (as Jasonc noted). As usual, YMMV. -

I order my overseas discs from amazon.jp or cdjapan. Both places have Macross Delta pre-orders available. Sometimes searching for Macross Delta in English works, but usually searching for マクロスΔ is better (in case others are wondering about it). ...Edited with more details...
