  1. Gundam 00 was announced from the start to be 2 seasons. It's Sunrise's new policy to split 50 episode shows into two 25 episode seasons with a 6 month gap since Code Geass to allow DVD sales to fund the second half.
  2. I'm just giving you guys the true definition of the word since I was there to witness its genesis. I personally think the word is stupid and cringe every time someone misuses it thinking that it's cool.
  3. GAR is a misspelling of the word gay. It started during the broadcast run of Fate Stay/Night when the character Archer sacrificed himself to buy his friends time. An Anonymous on 4chan posted that the act was so manly that he would go "GAR" for Archer. All this fandangled nonsense is what people who didn't know what the word meant decided GAR to be since that's what they could make out from the subsequent posts. When you say that something is GAR, you're saying you wouldn't mind if it had sex with your butt.
  4. Nice ep on Macross Zero, DAPDX folks. I think I pretty much agree with all your points.
  5. 3 of those groups are working together on the release though. As of ep 9, it's AiA-Z, AonE-Gekkostate-Menclave, gg, and Chihiro. So 4 groups.
  6. Valkyries have emoted before. It happened a bunch of times in SDF Macross. In DYRL, Hikaru's Skull 1 salutes the bridge before heading out to Boldoza. In Macross Plus, the YF-19 does a "don't blame me" shrug after hitting a friendly target with paint rounds. And there were a few times that VF-11MAXL pranced around like a school girl during Macross 7.
  7. For anyone who dl'd the MBS raw and can't use the GG sub file, I fixed the timing so it'll work now.
  8. As for why Alto jettisoned his FAST packs, he might have already expended the fuel and missiles in them, so why not use them as chaff? Other than the fact that they're expensive.
  9. Beyond the humour of this episode, which some hardliners will readily latch on to as ammo against this episode (Do some people hate laughing?), this was also a character exposé episode as well. The theme behind the ep seemed to be how each of the three main characters are coming out of the shells they built around themselves due to the relationships they have formed. Alto has to drop the mask he wears at school of the "Ice Princess" when he's embarassed by having everyone thinking he's dating Sheryl, and then again when he rushes off to save Sheryl with his EX Gear. With Sheryl, we get a continuation of her softening character since the incident in ep 1 ("No fans!"). We're also shown that Sheryl dislikes being bad at anything, to the point of joining Mihoshi Academy's pilot program to master the EX Gear (with the ulterior motive to be close to Alto, I'm sure). Ranka is shown to be getting stronger, unwilling to take Sheryl's help to reach her dream, instead taking the hard path. Also enrolling in Mihoshi to be with Alto shows her new found boldness, even though it's shortly crushed by the arrival of Sheryl. As much as the episode was silly antics, the character developments in this episode would make it hard for someone to skip it and not feel a bit lost.
  10. Well, Sheryl is 17, why wouldn't she be allowed to ?
  11. Hey, at least they're consistent, cause MAHQ reviews are pretty much plot summaries with a numerical score. But you didn't hear that from me. Keep rocking, Jeremy and Andrew.
  12. I assume the Overboost works by upping the reaction temperature past safe operating limits for short bursts at a time?
  13. I assume whatever gas can be compressed the best for longer sortie time. But yeah, the thermonuclear reaction's job is to just heat incoming gas into plasma and shoot it out the end. The stuff that's actually driving the reaction isn't shot out.
  14. I think wolfx must have been drinking a lot of Gundam koolaid if he missed stuff like this during the FINAL CLIMATIC episode of Gundam 00. Not a filler episode, not even a filler scene, quite obviously the MOST IMPORTANT scene in the whole series. Is this a shot from Gundam 0079 animated in 1979 or Gundam 00 animated in 2008? Can't really tell! Someone give the poor Alvaroon some Viagra, the animators gave its guns erectile dysfunction. Look at all the drawing detail. Return of Gundam 0079 Now, let me get this off my chest. Does it suck that Frontier's animation quality is fluctuating a bit. Yes, yes it does. I'm not defending the fact that Frontier has bad animation. What I'm trying to say that practically every anime series with an average budget fluctuates during its run. Frontier airs at 2AM in the morning, it's obviously going to try to cut some corners to come under budget compared to Seirei no Moribito, which is high profile and airing during Prime Time. It's just shitty that people who don't understand the art behind animation and the business of the industry whine and moan. As I said in another thread, you draw 36000 pictures in a week and come back, and maybe we can take your whining seriously. The animation will most likely be corrected for the video release. That's pretty much been the standard in the industry for the past half decade. Pay for the DVDs and get the corrected shots if it annoys you so much.
  15. Of course, everyone who complains about animation quality have to show that they can draw 36000 frames in one week and that every single one is perfect in every way.
  16. At this point it's just nitpicking, but Valkyries don't have afterburners since they use thermonuclear engines. (Afterburners work by shooting jet fuel into the hot exiting gasses in a chamber after the turbine, where it then also combusts and adds to the thrust. Valkyrie thermonuclear engines just heat up inert gasses or other such material(such as air while in atmosphere) and push them through the engine. So unless they carry around a seperate tank of jet fuel, they don't have afterburners, and are not listed to have them on Macross Compendium ) PS:The exception being the VF-0 and SV-51, since they use normal jet turbines.
  17. The last time they just tried to make a Macross that said "Macross" to fans, we wound up with Macross II. Screw that crap.
  18. I'm hoping the Quarter transforms into a big gun and the Battle25 dual wields it with its Gunship. That would be sick.
  19. It gives a glimpse of how the outer rim of mankind's reach live their lives. How is that not expanding on the Macross universe?
  20. Does the VF-27 really fold on its own or is it just piggybacking on the fold of an escort battleship?
  21. One would think that they added energy converting armor to the Koenig Monster, and that's how they managed to shave off 2/3 of the weight compared to the MkII while having it still be able to soak damage like a champ.
  22. Space isn't pure black. Cosmologists say it's more of a beige with all of the starlight, but the contrast causes our human brain to see it as black. It's like how the "blacks" on a projection screen are actually white.
  23. The end of the scene where Sheryl is watching the battle and the start of the battle scene afterward, there's a small Macross Frontier logo at the corners. Between those scenes was where the commercial was, there was no eyecatch this week due to time limits. Notice they used Aimo for the credits as well. One would assume if the VF-25 had them, they'd be on the wing roots, the same as the VF-19.
  24. Militaries themselves can't really decide whether or not camouflaging their planes actually have any effect on combat effectiveness since most combat is radar based anyways. Best thing to do seems to be no paint and just polishing the metal, shaves off like 100 pounds and improves aerodynamics.
  25. Thought it started in DYRL.
