While I was looking around on Yahoo! Japan for some Gunbuster stuff I don't have, I came across this: Now, I have seen Gunbuster cosplay outfits before, but this is one of the best I have seen in a long while, and the back shot of the girl just takes the cake. I just wish the person selling the outfit left the girl's face in instead of sunbursting it out of there. I actually tried bidding on this thing, hoping to win it so I could get my girlfriend to wear it when Otakon hits Baltimore this August. Oh well...

I was thinking more along the lines of the actual song title tracks on the CD's themselves.

Hey there! This is a bit out of the norm, but what the hell... I am posting a couple of images of the two Excel Saga soundtrack CD's I have and would like to know if anyone out there has an English translation of the tracks on both discs. If you know of a site which does this, please let me know, or PM me if you have these discs and can translate Japanese. Thanks a bunch!

All region DVD player auto play
Noriko Takaya replied to Solscud007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Holy crap! I just bought that player as a back-up to my expensive one. I would have never guessed it could be programmed all region if I hadn't read this thread. Thanks guys! Now I can watch my original Japanese released Gunbuster DVDs on TV istead of on my computer! -
I just picked this title up today because I am a big Excel Saga fan. I have to say that I thought it was great. Laughed my ass off...

Go to Google's front page on their search engine and type weapons of mass destruction in the search box. Then click on the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. See what you get. A friend of mine sent this to me today and I thought it was funny enough to share with you guys. Just do not click on any of the links on the page.

Well, I know Media Blasters acquisition of Iria from Central Park Media has been old news for a while, but I had completely forgot about its new release until I saw the collector's tin in Best Buy today. Reading the back of the tin, it states that it has been remastered and contains loads of extras not found on the previous US Manga Corps release. Not to mention that it comes in a new nifty metal case. I was wondering if anyone out there has this, and if they do, what's it like? I really do not want to shell out the $40.00 for it if it is nothing more than a revamped copy of the original release. Have they improved upon the translation? Is the English dub the same or has it been redone? (My girlfriend will only watch anime dubbed despite my attempts at trying to get her to do the subtitled route.) Any comments you fellow Iria fans may have please share them.

Someone asked about the patch they are including with the 2 disc set of the first volume. Here is an image of it since no one else brought it up:

Then bring your ass home dude! I'm sure you'd love the shitty "spring" weather we've been having. Pouring rain, and temps in the 30's and 40's, it's great! All that leading up to another summer in the high 90's with humidity topping out right about 95%, Mmmm, can't wait for another Maryland summer in the steambox. I think I need to start job hunting nationwide.... I feel your pain. I am an air conditioning mechanic and I DO NOT look forward to the godawful heat and humidity we get here. The customers are just plain a-holes when they do not have a cool house to go to. And looking at a lot of these places where some of you are from, I can safely say that at one point in my life, I have actually visited some of them. I loved Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Australia, the Phillippines, Panama, Great Britain and some of the others.

Oh my God! A resident of the Peoples' Republic of Gaithersburg! ARGH!! The world's largest Gunbuster fan can be found in a wonderful part of Maryland's Anne Arundel County in the middle of nowhere in a beautiful little town called Harwood.

Final Countdown DVD - March 30th!
Noriko Takaya replied to Vifam7's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hey, I heard that the 1/72 scale model kits made by Italeri for Testors were actually used in the making of Top Gun. And if you have watched the bonus disc with the pilots from The Final Countdown you can hear them knocking on Top Gun. -

Soon-Tek Oh, the Korean actor who played the camp commander where Braddock was a prisoner. I'll always remember him best as Chris Farley's sensei in Beverly Hills Ninja. -
Final Countdown DVD - March 30th!

Okay... Here are a few more screenshots from the movie: -
I like my PS2 just fine. I hardly play it anyway, as I like my PC better. Anyhoo... Just an afterthought -- I heard that the X-box wasn't doing too well against the PS2 and was on its way out the door as had happened to the Dreamcast. Any truth to that? Could Microsoft finally have a big stinker on its hands because Sony might have monopolized the gaming industry as far as consoles go? Inquiring minds want to know!

Bubblegum Crisis Remaster is on the way
Noriko Takaya replied to Anubis's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Great news. I hope AnimEigo does away with those godawful cases which were pushed on the fans when the series first came out on DVD. When I got mine, the series was inside jewel cases enclosed within a cardboard box with mediocre artwork. -
Oomori Kinuko - SILK (Bubblegum Crisis)...
Noriko Takaya replied to crasis's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You might want to try here: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=TYCY-5625. It says it is out of print, but I got lucky one time by them actually having a couple of CD's I wanted that were out of print. Give it a shot if you haven't already. -
I think someone made a typo!. Star Wars was 1977, not 1987. I was referring to the movie Robocop. Out of the three mentioned. Robocop was the last one made. It was released in 1987. This is what I meant by the youngest movie of the three.

The first season of War of the Worlds wasn't that bad. The second season was atrocious. The show just kind of took a nose dive after they killed off Richard Chaves' character. Granted, it was cheesy, but the television series was ok. Kind of like Space: 1999. It's first season was great, but they got corny and made a great show suck really bad. As for the 50's flick not emulating the book, I was aware of this as I had read the book countless times as a child. I may need to pick it up and read it again. I just happened to like the movie. I agree with you on these movies, but they are not recent. The youngest of these movies was made in 1987, 17 years ago.

If this has been posted before, I'm sorry. I was watching some tabloid television earlier tonight and discovered that there is going to be a remake of The War of the Worlds by none other than Steven Speilberg and Tom Cruise. I'm not talking about the supposed movie which was to be released by Pendragon Pictures. Has anyone else heard about this? If so, why? I loved the old movie by George Pal. With the recent slew of remakes of classic movies hitting the market lately (Dawn of the Dead and the upcoming King Kong), have writers in Hollywood run out creative ideas? Why is it that we always have to take a perfectly good movie and update it to meet current standards? I think that it's about time the movie and television industry hire some fresh meat. Before you know it they're going to start remaking fine classics like The Evil Dead or what-have-you.
-
I wonder if this new Dawn Of The Dead movie is going to have the same cheesy music like the original. That mall music was classic. If it's half as gory as the original, I will be happy. However, I tend to view remakes of classic movies with a very critical eye. We'll see how this ends up coming along.

Official - Weapons Banter Thread
Noriko Takaya replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
What is it with the United States that we can't make our own infantry weapons anymore? The Baretta 9mm (Italian), the AT4 rocket launcher (Swedish), the Minimi M249 SAW (Belgian), ect are all foriegn made weapons which seem to revolve around what NATO wants. Ah, I'm not going to even get started... Just ignore me. -
20th Anniversary Convoy and Kicker set
Noriko Takaya replied to SupremeKaioshin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Damn, when you said Convoy, I thought you were refering to the really cheesy truckers movie I loved as a kid. -
GoBots sucked major a**. However, that did not stop me from buying the two plastic model kits with the GoBots name on them, because they were actually kits from Mospeada. I still have one of them in my basement somewhere...

How many years have you been posting here?
Noriko Takaya replied to Skull 0ne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've been lurking around here for quite a while, although I did not officially start to post until sometime in 2002. Even though I do not post that often, I am always here at least sometime during the day.
