  1. Let the merchandising begin!! Look here at this. As if rice cakes weren't bland enough...
  2. In some areas it is a part of expanded-cable, usually a premium package. It might be PPV in other markets as well. Yeah, I think in my area it's a question of them just not having it all the way now. I have fully blown cable and internet with all the freakin channels, and I don't have the Anime network . Didn't you used to work for ComCast? I figured some of your old cable buddies would help you out... By the way, I don't get it either... And I don't really care. I've outgrown the need to watch RT.
  3. "...Nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure!" I second that! Anything that big and fugly needs to be wiped out. And people say that Saddam didn't have weapons of mass destruction. Hell, they're crawling all over the place. On a second note, I've got an Army buddy who has pictures of these things from when he was over in Kuwait during the first Gulf War. Let me see if I can borrow them from him and I'll post some more pictures. That is if he isn't anal about it...
  4. Here I was, looking for some new Akane Soma stuff, and I found this on eBay. Talk about stereotypical...
  5. Cool! I am: By the way, I am also: You're Go-Go, you have two weapons a small knife and a huge ball on a change that you can be very deadly with. Though you're only seventeen you're one of O-renshi's personal bodyguards Here is the link to that quiz: Kill Bill
  6. Well guys, here is some information on Gunbuster 2: Okay, so now what? I am really worried. I am hoping that this synopsis is just a hoax. What the hell is Gainax thinking? What the hell is up with the whole oneesama thing again? It was unique to Noriko's character and defined her relationship with Kazumi. It's really not needed. And TOPLESS? Ugh! Do you see any similarities to Evangelion and Gundam in this? Mecha that can only be piloted by children with superpowers. Let's get the controversy started again...
  7. Saw it tonight with my girlfriend. She loved it because she's a Hugh Jackman fan, but I hated it. Not enough Josie Maran...
  8. You know, from what I am seeing posted on other boards across the web, other fans are displeased with the new character representations. And I've already got a e-mail reagrding this sent to my site asking: "What are they thinking?" I wonder why Gainax just couldn't get Mikimoto to plan the new characters? They sure would have looked a lot better.
  9. I saw this earlier today, but someone beat me to the post. However, from the looks of these designs, I'd have to say I am not really impressed. I hope someone got the pictures messed up when they were doing the layout for the magazine article. That short haired blond girl reminds me of the chick from FLCL, Kitsurubami. The girl with the purple hair and ponytails reminds me of Ruri from Nadesico. The Noriko wannabe looks like a cross between Kurumi the Steel Angel and Mylene from Macross 7. Don't get me wrong, I am happy this is finally getting put into production. I just hope it can live up to the reputation of the older series.
  10. Well, I liked both films, but I prefer the original. Just watched it the other night as a matter of fact. And to make matters worse, Hollywood is going to screw everything up like they usually do and make a sequel. Can you guess? It's called The Ring 2. I am not making this up. Edit: Speaking of which, Hideo Nakata, who is credited with directing the Japanese version of Ringu, is slated to direct the American sequel. And I've just discovered that there was a sequel made in Japan as well. Go figure...
  11. Well, it's been pretty much confirmed by now. Gunbuster is now out of print with Manga Entertainment and no new release is ever planned. This sucks for those of us who live here in the United States. All we have to do now is figure out how we are going to get another company to acquire the license. Anyone out there have any ideas?
  12. Hey! Here is where you will find the world's largest Gunbuster fan! Latitude: 38° 51' 56" Longitude: -76° 33' 55"
  13. Christ, half of the cartoons I watched when I was a kid had people getting killed, people smoking and drinking, and having personal relationships. Jonny Quest (The original series) was one of those. I've had the same feelings as Agent One has for years, even as early as the 80's when Voltron, Thundercats, and GI Joe were on television. It has been a steady degrading of television for children since the late 70's. Let's make everything our kids watch all touchy-feely. Damned hippies. Political correctness is an abomination which needs to be stamped out. By the way, Mechamaniac, you reminded me of G Gordon Liddy just then with the picking up of a stick to use as a gun if the authorities that be ban toy guns. My grandfather also use to say the same things.
  14. I had that coloring book and two other different ones when I was in the Marines. I used them to give me something to do while I was on a WestPac float in '85 between training and cleaning my rifle. I usually always ended up drawing obscene gestures on the character illustrations.
  15. I got an even 50%. Go figure that one out...
  16. Good god! Makes you wish you were breast fed by her, don't it?
  17. As a former Marine who has fought the living dead before, I can safely say that every grunt coming out of The School of Infantry knows to shoot zombies in the head. By the way, the unit I was stationed with was known as the Walking Dead (1st Battalion, 9th Marines), so I find this story about Marines fighting zombies funny.
  18. Well, seeing as how I already have the original set, I will probably be dumb enough to go buy this one too.
  19. I still have my original US Renditions VHS tapes and am rather hardpressed to never get rid of them now since Mangle has trashed the series. Friggin idiots. I guess they figured your average classic anime fan wouldn't mind if they edited it a bit. And speaking of a licensed region 2 version, does anyone know where to get one at a reasonable price? Now that both of my DVD players are region free after the hacks I got, I'd be more interested in getting them instead of a bootleg.
  20. Hey all, after sending a few e-mails off to some of the more reputable anime distributors, I actually got a reply from a Robert Woodward over at AnimEigo, who stated that he would be VERY (his emphasis) interested in finding out if Manga has indeed lost the license to Gunbuster. He assured me that he would check on the matter and let me know. Let's hope he lives up to his promise and checks back with me. Maybe we can finally get somewhere with this.
  21. First off, the Region 2 DVD release pushed by Kiseki Films is a direct rip of the VHS subtitled version of US Rendition's original release. Anyone who has been a long time fan of the series can tell you that the translation leaves something to be desired, as at certain points it's inaccurate. And as previously mentioned, Kiseki's cutting out the bathing scene in episode 2 just to garner a rating so it could be sold to a younger audience is just plain idiotic. As for Manga's Keith What's-His-Face, do not believe him. He has been lying to every Gunbuster fan since the DVD format came out. That proposed August release date has been something he has been pulling out of his ass for the last few years. I am happy with the Japanese DVD's and laserdiscs I have, but I would prefer a new subtitled version eventually.
  22. Well, for us fans of Aim for the Top! Gunbuster, it looks as if we may never get the promised US released version after all. After looking through their entire site, Gunbuster is no longer to be found in their catalogue. They have a page full of their older anime releases, and Gunbuster is gone. This does not bode well for those of us who are fans. I have the feeling that Manga may have lost the license for the series, or that they have decided not to renew it because of its status as an older anime title. That's all well and good, but considering they still have Dangaio (A series I liked, but which I feel is inferior to Gunbuster), I was hoping they would have eventually released this show. Maybe it's just as well that they haven't considering how badly they butchered Dangiao. I am bummed. Maybe I haven't got anything to be bummed about, but then again... I was really hoping to see my favorite series released here in the US on DVD legitimately. Now I'm stuck with an inferior translation by US Renditions on VHS. I may just have to break out my laserdiscs and work on getting a fansub done.
  23. Okay. Here are the track listings from the booklets in each CD. Click on the address below to see a really big image. Hopefully the characters are clear enough for you to see. http://www.toponeraegunbuster.com/excel-cd-back.jpg
  24. Yeah, I thought of that too, but I was trying to be kind.
