Yeah, I got a GeForce FX 5700 Ultra a while back from a friend of mine who didn't like it. Since it was better than the old GeForce 200 Ti (?) I had, I didn't give him any crap. It was free. However, I had problems running the game in medium detail at the minumum resolution without everything slowing down. The drivers really helped out quite a friggin lot. Didn't know about the other thing, but the game sounds pretty awesome anyways. I know there were issues with others saying the gunfire sounded canned, but I compensated for that with a little tweaking.

Toys aren't them? Toys R Us may sell toy unit
Noriko Takaya replied to Ladic's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hey! We have a Frank & Sons here in Maryland, although it is just a father and son operation in Glen Burnie and he sells toy trains and model kits. Plus, he also has sideburns and hair that puts Elvis Presley's doo to shame. As for TrU. They are lucky if I even drive by and look at them while I'm up and about during the work day. They're prices have been going up and up year after year. Hell, even K-mart has cheaper toys than most people. (Hmm, wondering why a 38 year old man (me) is going on about a toy store...) -
Game is cool. I literally had to punch myself to get off of the computer this morning at 3:30 because I had to work. And while I find that the game is not terribly frightening, I jumped at a few scenes, especially that bathroom mirror one because you do not expect that. There were some issues getting it to work right when I first uploaded it onto my computer. Getting new drivers for DirectX and from Nvidia has seemed to fix that problem, even with my sucky P4 1.8Ghz processor and crappy GeForce FX card. I can play it at high detail in 1600 x 1200 resolution with no snags at all. Also, I am not having an issue with the sound of the gunfire or anything at all. The new soundcard I got along with those 200W 5.1 THX surround sound speakers really adds a sense of being in the damn game. All in all, it rocks. I love this game. I hope they make another and keep the series going.

Yep, he is a friggin hypocrite.

You can say that again. His speech makes the HK bootleg of Gunbuster readable.

Man, now I'm bummed out. I know someone who bought House of the Dead and I made it through five minutes of that shee-it before I got up to leave. I was wondering who made that bucket of crap and now I know. There's always hope that a decent movie will be made... Then again, I'm not going to hold my breath.

I don't know how many of you out there liked playing Majesco's video game, BloodRayne, but I count myself as one of those fans who liked it and who is eagerly awaiting the sequel being released in October. Yeah, love it or hate it, there was nothing like being a bloodthirsty vampire killing Nazis. However, to the point of this thread, I thought I would share some news on who they got to play the half human, half vampire babe from the game for the proposed motion picture. Here's the news: So, there you have it. Another movie being made from a video game. And like so many others, it may have a chance to make it if it is done right. They can make a good movie from this game if they try. So, what are your thoughts? Just post the good and the bad as you see fit.

Yeah, just what we'd need. A spy who gets his butt kicked by the bad guy and goes crawling off to hug the legs of madame 'M'. *Pathetic Troy reference*

Okay, here's a few shots of the new Noriko Takaya PVC figurine. Sorry about the large images. Wanted to show off the detail a little. First the face:

Seeing as how I am the rampant Gunbuster nut around here, I bought two of those PVC figures. One for display and one for my collection. I also have the resin kit of the same pose. They are pretty good, if you ask me. Since I do not have the patience to build figure kits, the prepainted was a great find. By the way, HLJ and Hobby Search have this same figure for less than what he is charging on this auction. I got mine from HLJ when they first came out for roughly $52.00 each. At least, that's what my credit card statement from them says.

Caught a burglar red-handed in my house!
Noriko Takaya replied to Majestic's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, if he had broke into my home, I probably would have shot him full of holes. And just as Grahm suggested, my bedroom is my sanctuary to go if something bad goes down. My gun safe is right next to my bed and I can open it rather swiftly. But... since I live in the Peoples' Republic of Maryland, I would have probably gone to jail if I shot the little punk. However, nice job on subduing the crook. At least fortune smiled on you and the perpetrator didn't have a knife or gun to hurt you or your wife. Hopefully the kid was scared enough never to do it again and will turn his life around. -
I started this thread as a cousin to the Deaths in Anime thread that has become semi-popular. They are out there. While adding to the story somewhat, you secretly wish they would die. You know that the story would have been better if they were never in it. Don't lie. Fess up to it. Please list your all-time hated sidekick in anime, or any comic, television, or sci-fi series in general. Get them off of your chest and make it known why some sidekicks should never be allowed to work on their own or with others. My all time MOST ANNOYING SIDEKICK in all of anime is AZUSA, from Devil Hunter Yohko. I know there are others that are more annoying, but she rubs me the wrong way. God, I wish Yohko would just get rid of her like a bag of week old garbage.

opinion: deaths in anime
Noriko Takaya replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT Devil Hunter Yohko dies in the anime? At the end? For real? For good? Please let me know. Anyway The end of Chrno Crusade. The most sad death I saw. Of course she dies in the anime, but not at the end. She's the heroine, so she comes back to life. Now, since I hate that little beyotch Azusa, all we need now is the MOST ANNOYING ANIME SIDEKICK thread. -

Smith Torren? Yes, his death was tragic because Noriko at the time was too insecure to be in combat. What about Jung-Freud's poor wingman, Linda Yamamoto? Out of all of Gunbuster, hers was the only death you actually got to see. You can classify her death as, "If I only had my own mecha, this wouldn't have happened to me". -

I was just referring to the mental anguish having to fall all that way knowing you would die when you go splat! -

It was a mercy killin' The woman didn't want the guy to suffer too much on the way down. By the way, these images are under the "In the wrong place at the wrong time" and "I got myself killed because my stupid sidekick is easily possessed" categories. 1.) AD Police officer, episode 3 of Original Bubblegum Crisis 2.) Yohko Mano, episode 5 of Mamono Hunter Yohko -

Official - Weapons Banter Thread
Noriko Takaya replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
You know, one only has to read the Nazi Weapons Law of 1938 to see what total gun control can do to a country and its people. I can see that happening to us if we as concerned US citizens do nothing to stop it. If you'd like to read anything on this, there are many sites out there. Here's one for example: Hitler and Guns. I don't like getting political either on this site, because it usually leads to flame wars and other crap because everyones' views are different, but gun control is something I am vehemently against, and I have tried over the years to persuade people why they should fight for their second amendment rights. If you have not realized, most people are for gun control because they do not understand firearms or are afraid of them. Then there's the "We have to protect the children crowd". A responsible adult firearm owner with children would show his child what a firearm could do and how to treat them with respect. Most of the kids dying because of loaded firearms are due to irresponsible adults leaving them unattended in places where kids can get them. I could go on and on, but this thread is for the enjoyment of guns and other weapons and we should leave it at just that. I just hope that the moderators understand that things like this will occur and will have patience with us when we need to blow off steam. And how does the old saying go? Oh yeah, "The only way they are going to get my guns is if they pry them from my cold, dead fingers." By the way, I am going to go out to the range tomorrow. Throwing some lead downrange will help me clear my head now and blow off some steam. I think I will dig out the old "black rifle" with my 10 30-round magazines which I got in Florida and are illegal to buy, but legal to own, in the Peoples' Republic of Maryland. I -
No, the opening song was The Unknown Stuntman, written by Glen A Larson, Gail Jensen, and David Sommerville. It was also sung by the Six Million Dollar Man himself, Lee Majors. Speaking of which, that is another show I would like to see on DVD. Love that corny bionics show, but not its spin-off. Lindsay Wagner was cute, but I could do without that show.
-
Actually, the TV series was released on DVD back in October. There is another show I want on DVD from my childhood, and I was mesmerized by it because she was friggin' hot. Lynda Carter rules! Edit* D'oh! I guess I should have read JRock's post!

Hey, let's not forget one of the greatest live action childrens shows to ever come out on DVD just recently: The Land of the Lost. Everyone, sing! Marshall, Will, and Holly, on a routine expedition, met the greatest earthquake ever known, High on the rapids, it struck that tiny raft, and plunged them down a thousand feet below, To the land of the lost, To the land of the lost... Look I realize that this show may seem kind of bad now, but when I was 9 years old, it was the bomb.
