  1. NEWS FLASH! Because the AWB has finally went were it belonged, down the toilet, I just heard that gun sales have suddenly skyrocketed, and the ban isn't officially over until midnight tonight. I know I have contributed; I am going to pre-order my M4 tomorrow with the collapsable tele-stock, flash compensator, and bayonet lug. However, the ban on 30 rounders in Maryland is still in effect. It's a state law. I will go out of state to get more just like I did last time.
  2. Hey, no problem. I knew that there was a term used for that. I first read about it in an old Doctor Who novelization dealing with the Sontarans, who themselves are a race of clones. But I hadn't heard the term used again until an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation when Doctor Katherine Pulaski vocally stated it.
  3. Yes, it is also interesting to note that once Hitler had all guns under lock and key that there was a wave of murder and mayhem the likes of which had never been seen before in that time of history. His cronie, Heinrich Himmler loved to say this about gun ownership: "Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA - ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the State." The father, or should I say fuehrer, of all gun control was also the father of all mass murderers of the 20th century. Hitler, and a hand full of other despots are reasons enough why there should always be an armed civilian populace. Okay now, no more politics. Go out and buy that evil looking black rifle you have always wanted. And have fun learning how to shoot it safely and legally. 35 minutes and counting...
  4. At the moment of my post: 48 minutes and counting until the end. Good-bye AWB. And good riddance to you.
  5. The term you are referring to is called replicative fading. It's a generalized term that came about to explain that there was a certain limit you could go on to the replication of clones from a dominant DNA source, hence this is why the original donor subject needed to be kept close by. And while it is not stated in the movie, this is probably why Jango retained a home on Kamino. Not only was it a safehaven, but it also kept him close by when the Kaminoans needed material. I for one do not think the Storm Troopers seen in the OT are clones of Jango. I think they may be clones of another source, or at the very least, conscripts contracted to serve the Emperor. Edit: One other thing. Since Lucas has been running around changing this and changing that, does anyone know if he got James Earl Jones to re-do the voice of Vader from that one excruciating moment near the end of Episode V where he isaking for his Star Destroyer or whatever?
  6. Okay... to get this thread off the inevitable ride it is taking down the political road. This is just a generalized question. "Do any of you out there sleep with your firearm, and if so, which one do you prefer to have at your side?"
  7. I do know that here in the Peoples' Republic of Maryland you can legally own a automatic weapon and silencer, that is if you apply for the Class III license and are granted one. This much I am sure of, even with the ban in effect. As for high-cap mags, it is illegal to sell anything over a 30 rounder in Maryland. To get mine, I had to go out of state and bring them back in, which is perfectly legal since they are already your property.
  8. That is exactly what it is known as here in the US. If it were just credited to Gainax by the anime series which have taken the liberty of using it, then it would be more widely known. Gainax should have patented it. Gunbuster also opened up some other interesting things like the homing laser which have been copied also.
  9. I would. I saw the movie last night and enjoyed it immensely. It was a helluva lot better than the first one, if you ask me, and for sheer mindless fun, it was great. The Nemesis was friggin' cool (even if it was kind of hokey at the end), and Milla has some of the biggest bullet nips I have ever seen. She is hot, as is the chick who played Jill Valentine. I can tell you it sure beat the crap out of Uwe Boll's House of the Dead shee-it fest. For a change I think they have finally got a videogame movie right.
  10. That would be friggin' great. I miss my old SAW.
  11. The R2 box is going to be great! I can't wait to get mine. And if you have not seen them, there are two additional science lessons which were included on the Okaerinasai laserdisc boxed set. They will be included on this new set. The super-deformed Noriko dressed up as one of the Sailor Scouts is hilarious. As for the science, some of it is factual such as time dilation, but very little else. The only other anime I've seen which used time dilation to a great extent was Voices of a Distant Star, which in a way loosely pays homage to Gunbuster. One other thing that is rarely known and qualifies as trivia is that the series' writers basically sat around with nothing to do and came up with the junk science used in the show. As for fanservice, you now know where jiggling breasts came from in anime, as is evident from Noriko's bounce in episode one.
  12. I myself have an A2 and like it very much. I like my Bushmaster a lot better than the old Colt A1 I originally had, but that is my preference. However, since it is now obvious that the AWB is going to sunset into history, I would like to get another AR, and that is why I was thinking of the M4. I would like a carbine suited to CQC for where I live. It would make a fine addition to my home defense collection. And since I am an old grunt, my rifle won't jam (hopefully not) like some warrior wannabes' (example: Jessica Lynch) because they didn't know how to properly clean their weapon. Now, where is my M249 SAW?
  13. Oh yes, I will be getting one of these! Bwahahaha!
  14. Welcome to the wonderful world of the true Gunbuster fan. I am always grateful to see a new fan of this anime emerge. As for what Mercurial Morpheus said, I'm inclined to agree with him about his reservations until the whole series is released. We'll have to wait and see I guess. As for the license thing, I told you I got an e-mail from Mike Egan at Manga which stated they have retained the license to Gunbuster. I'm not buying this until something is made concrete.
  15. I've already got an eye out for a new short barrel upper for my Bushy with a flash suppressor and bayonet lug as well as a tele-stock to convert it over to an M4 variant. I know some of you out there hate the good ol' black rifle, but I love my little Bushmaster. Not as much as my M1 though... Come to think of it, it will be time to get some more 30 rounders too. I have ten of them, but you can never have enough. By the way, here is my dream which I will never own out of the M16 series:
  16. Me too. I guess I'll be saving up my pennies now. They do look kind of cool.
  17. That's pretty funny. On another note, YesAsia has these for sale coming in November. Click HERE. Now, for the price they are offering those for, they had best be some pretty damned fine looking figures. I just wish they had an image of them. And to be sure, I visited Kotobukiya's site and they do not have an image up either. Just a mention of when they are coming out.
  18. So what else is new? Nothing as far as Gainax is concerned. I'll probably get this when the whole series is out. I need to replace the set I had that my girlfriend somehow lost somewhere. (Hint: Tossed in the trash. She hates EVA) I'm also feeling the pinch with the re-release of the remastered Top O Nerae! Gunbuster boxed set.
  19. A color version of episode 6?? Why?! And... how?! The cels were painted and black and white!! Hey, the miracles of computer editing my friend. This should be interesting to see. You know, maybe they had a color version of this episode all along and they were holding out... However, I think I will probably like the B&W version best. I've already pre-ordered my set from CD Japan, and I should receive it along with my Gunbuster Perfect Guide DVD at the same time. I'll take some photos of the box art and other stuff when I get them to show you all what they look like. And you can also count on the screen captures of episode six as well. This is going to be sweet!
  20. Top O Nerae 2! is going to be the Macross II of the Gunbuster universe! Yeah, I know there was only the original series, but that is how it should remain. Shame on you Gainax! Shame, shame, shame on you!
  21. Har har har! I dug up the old firearms thread once more! This is just a general question for you Marylanders out there. Have any of you been to Select-Fire's range in Glen Burnie? Just curious as I am to understand that they are the only Class III dealer in Maryland, and I am itching to buy a submachine gun. Yeah, I already know the rules and such as they pertain to Maryland, and I can afford the $200 transfer tax. However, I may not be able to afford the gun. I'll probably have to sell a lung or something... So, have any of you fired at this range? If so, is it worth it?
  22. There are actually two Martian Buddy lockers in the game with free stuff. The first one you come across has a chaingun in it and the second one has a BFG 9000. The code is the same for both lockers. By the way, has anyone downloaded that new sound pack for the game which makes the guns and demons sound meaner? Kind of cheesy, but definitely better than the ones supplied with the game.
  23. Hey! Nene is my favorite of the Knight Sabers. After all, she is a cute redhead. You really have got to watch the subtitled version of Bubblegum Crisis before you go and make assumptions that it is stupid. AnimEigo's crappy dub does this show an injustice. And when they dubbed the songs they committed the most vile of all treachery. The original Bubblegum Crisis is possibly one of the best cyberpunk anime shows from the 80's you will ever run across.
  24. "Mister Chambers! Don't get on that ship! The cover of the book, "To Serve Man", it's.. it's a cookbook!" Well, that's as best as I can remember that phrase!
