  1. Dude, I feel for you. I have been collecting anime crap since 1984 and if my woman ever told me to part with it, it would probably mean war. Thank God my girlfriend understands my obsession and leaves well enough alone.
  2. Hey, some of us here will fess up to their megalomania. It's just that BoK loved to start things to get peoples' feathers ruffled so. By the way, who are you? Looks like we have a new poster. And the first place you post? In a thread about Carl Macek and Banky. Could it be? Could Banky have returned under a different nom de guerre?
  3. BankofKev loves to talk the talk about us on his blog, but why doesn't he come here and let us flame him personally? He says we are going soft on him. I say we go hard on him. Take the man down. Anyone who considers Robotech to be the pure version of Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada is a chucklehead. I wish he would troll on over here so we can give him what he wants. For all we know he really gets coffee for the staff over there and works in the mail room. Or cleans the toilet. Hey Banky, come on back so we can abuse you! Sorry about the rant. I am being facetious. Not!
  4. Well, this is an airsoft related issue for those of you interested who reside in the state of Maryland. Those of you familiar with what was once know as Bob's Coin and Gun located in Annapolis next to the Popeye's on West Street is now an airsoft shop. The new owner just opened shop this week and is still stocking, but he claims he will be stocking everything from Tokyo Marui, Classic Army, Top, and a few others I am unfamiliar with. He has a pretty good selection of Classic Army M4 type rifles and they look pretty good. I am surprised at how much the CA M4 weighs, as it feels as if I am holding my own Bushie M4. He is also going to sell REAL firearms as well, and he has a couple hanging on the wall, including a Chinese made AK-47, a Heckler & Koch Model 91 rifle, and a semi-auto Thompson. If you live in the surrounding area you might want to take a look.
  5. From here on, I will no longer post nude pictures of anyone save those of myself.
  6. ummm what pictures? Ask and you will receive... Sorry if they are grainy. Damned paparazzi you know.
  7. I had heard that Portman talked to some strippers and actually cased the joints to see how they danced and such. However, I think she is kind of prudish about showing off her birthday suit on film. It may be a body double. Then again, there are those pictures of her on that beach..
  8. Hell, I would be happy just to get a complete set of Orguss on DVD with decent subs. But the toys are cool though.
  9. What a friggin' smeghead. He's sure all full of himself, isn't he? Hey, is this the same troll who was always trying to start crap here all the time?
  10. Good thing I picked another complete set as a back up to my original when the series came out. I am going to vacuum pack those babies.
  11. Since I do not watch much regular television, I will usually watch one disc per night until I am finished. I tried the marathon thing with my girlfriend watching Evangelion and Nadesico and was ready to shoot myself when it was over.
  12. Well, I told you the bootlegs would start to show up before long. Here's a listing on eBay for the first episode: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...bayphotohosting And speaking of eBay, this guy has quite a boatload of Gunbuster model kits.
  13. You missed my point. First off, I don't appreciate your sarcasm. Second, I hate Gundam. Would never own it. I have watched it, but it's not my cup of tea, and this is from someone who has been a mecha fan since my early anime days in the late 70's. But the explanation they gave still does not explain why Bandai will not issue a complete product to its customer base in the United States, when it is so blatantly obvious it is popular here. I was not referring to the amount of episodes on a DVD or video cassette, but the actual content of the show. It is perfectly understandable for fans here to be upset to the point of anger. Hell, I would cancel it myself. So calm down boot and let them have it. As for the Star Wars argument being irrelevent, you're wrong there also. If Lucas were to have removed the impressive opening theme and replaced it with another, such as the theme from Battle Beyond the Stars, don't you think fans would be pissed off? If anything, the major sound issues A New Hope had upon release sure ticked people off. There were even some fans here who were miffed. Music is so much a part of the show that when it is changed, even with something related to the series itself, people notice and it does have a direct affect on it.
  14. Then again, for many of us who got into anime in the first place, it was because we wanted to get what the Japanese audience got. This is basically an issue of artistic integrity for most of us (myself included because I am so much of a purist), because now we are being offered something which is now more or less incomplete. Yeah, we may be getting the full story when we purchase the show, but the theme music also adds to how the atmosphere will be set. Sure, it's just some songs, but think how much different Star Wars would have been if John Williams had never been hired to compose the score. Bandai may or may not be telling the truth on this matter, but to a lot of fans of the anime series in question, they are feeling robbed of something which adds to the show in general.
  15. Hey! I just realized where I've seen that guy who is playing an Oompa Loompa. Remember the movie Flash Gordon? He was that alien dude being drug around by Princess Aura.
  16. Doom with no Marines (check out avatar) is like Noriko without the Gunbuster. If Id approved of what will turn out to be a massive shee-it sandwich which most of us here will take a bite from, then I think we should show them what the true forces of Hell look like.
  17. It is time to say this. I am old enough to have seen this movie when I was a kid during it's run, and I am worried about this new one. I was 6 years old when I saw it, and have loved this movie ever since. So, here goes: Tim Burton is RAPING MY CHILDHOOD!
  18. Hell, I've seen some pretty shi-ty anime series that are better than most of those on that list.
  19. Edit: Deleted because I did not read the above post thouroughly. D'oh!
  20. Meh! I'll wait to buy my PSP when the next system to replace it comes out. I'll need an adaptor to plug it into my lighter socket in my work van though. Have to have something to do when the company puts me on standby. The chick in the pictures above kind of reminds me of Akina Nakamori.
  21. This may not be up to your liking, but I really liked the TV series version of Vampire Princess Miyu. It's not sci-fi, but more along the lines of horror and drama. It was released on DVD by TokyoPop and can be bought as a complete set with box, CD soundtrack, and some inane little trinket. Give it a try if you can find the first volume to rent. A word of advice though: Stay away from the dubbed version. It is horrible. The subtitled version is way better.
  22. Sorry if I have not put this news in the previous Appleseed thread, but I felt this was warranted enough to update people. If you haven't seen the news yet, Geneon has announced that Appleseed will be released theatrically starting January 14, 2005 and has created an official website where you can see a trailer, play some of the film's music, get wallpapers, and other wonderful things as on the Japanese site. You also get to download a little fan kit filled with images to make your own webpage. The biggest news is the release date here in the US. However, there is no theater schedule yet.
  23. Man, I am so glad I did not buy this game. While I did enjoy HL1, I do not relish the idea of someone being able to monitor what I play online. So I'm in total agreement with JsARCLIGHT on this. F--- the -astards. If they want to go that route, I won't buy their products. I'm just glad I bought Medal of Honor Pacific Assault and Vampire - The Masquerade Bloodlines. Both of those will keep me busy until I get my new PS2 and Bloodrayne 2 and Stand Alone Complex games.
  24. I've been donating toys and money to this organization ever since I first joined the Corps back in '83. I'm glad someone here brought it up. Everyone I work with dreads when I bring in the old steel pot to collect for the children every year, but they know it's for a good cause. Semper Fi to all my Marine Brothers out there who have kept this program alive for so long, and thanks to those civies and other military folk who care also.
  25. Gainax has released the cover art for the new PS2 game coming out in January of 2005. Unfortunately it is rather small and I have been unable to find a larger image. The game will be a 3D action based platform, and will include a B2 size poster if you are one of the first to purchase it. I don't know if this (the poster) is through Gainax's web store or not, but if it is, forget about getting it. There is supposed to be some new Mikimoto art included also. The image is below.
