George A. Romero's "Land of the Dead"
Noriko Takaya replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It just dawned on me (excuse the pun) regarding the image of Asia Argento standing next to that guy. She's the daughter of Dario Argento, who helped to produce Dawn of the Dead and also wrote most of the music to that film with the Goblins. Just a little trivia, but most of you out there probably already knew this. -
George A. Romero's "Land of the Dead"
Noriko Takaya replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, he did a few films from what I can see on IMDB's website. He made a movie called Bruiser in 2000, but before that his last film was The Dark Half. Seems he's got two other films (maybe) coming up this year in addition to Land of the Dead. However, just because he does not work steadily does not make him a bad director, if that is what you are insinuating. Maybe he just likes to lay low and chill out. -
Yeah there is a way to play without seeing your Viper. Press the Select button until you come upon the mode you are looking for.

George A. Romero's "Land of the Dead"
Noriko Takaya replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I don't think Romero had anything to do with the remake of Dawn of the Dead, but I could be wrong there. But if I remember correctly from one of Romero's earlier films, they had established that the zombies were intelligent enough to recognize people and use weapons, as demonstrated in Day of the Dead. So who's to say that by the time they have gained the upper hand in the world that they have started their own hierarchy? -
Bubblegum Crisis Wallpaper
Noriko Takaya replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Believe it or not, I found them on AnimEigo's site. The image of Priss I had to clean up quite a bit though, as it is a cel image and the film around the image was very bleak and dark looking. I love Photoshop! -
George A. Romero's "Land of the Dead"
Noriko Takaya replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, initially Romero's films about the dead have always looked cheesy, but the storyline was generally good. And you should also consider, the designers of Capcom's Biohazard (Resident Evil) got some of their inspiration from Romero's films. As for the storyline about the walled city, it was already well known before Resident Evil: Apocalypse even hit the theaters. -
Came across this little tidbit by accident. Seems Universal Pictures has got the license and is releasing the film. The synopsis goes something like this: There is no official site for this film yet, but the Internet Movie Database has a cast listing, so you can see who is starring in it. I also managed to pull a few images from a few sites. Here goes:

Bubblegum Crisis Wallpaper
Noriko Takaya replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Thanks guys. I'll toy around a bit since this is not final. The largest size I have this in so far is 1600 x 1200. If you're interested, I'll post this on my server and provide a link to it later. -
This is something I have been toying around with for a week or so now. Look at the image. This is what my wallpaper looks like now, but I would like to add some lettering to it. Any thoughts or advice? I like the style of the lettering done for the new DVD's, but I have been unable to find the title logo just by itself without all the annoying background clutter. I'd like to add Priss' name in there too, but am not sure where it would look good. Maybe I should leave it as it is? So maybe you Bubblegum Crisis fans out there could help.

You see, that stinks. I can't even pass the first level, which sucks because I am really bad at flight sims. I manage to blow up those Cylon fighters attacking the Galactica, and destroy the satellites around the sheilded asteroid, but stupid Paulus or whatever his name is buys the farm before I can reach him, even when I'm doing turbo all the way. I like the look of the game, and this is frustrating me. Maybe I'll just stick to ground based war games where I rule.

The cast of Marvel's FANTASTIC FOUR unveiled!
Noriko Takaya replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hmm... Very interesting in an odd way. Kinda reminds me of the old Doom from the very early days. -
While we are all on the subject of Battlestar Galactica, I got the PS2 game from a friend of mine for Christmas. Has anyone here played the game. I'm not too big on flight sims (the only one I've ever liked was Colony Wars), so this one has me all frustrated at times. I do like the fact you play as Adama in the good old days as the game seems to take place during the Cylon Wars.

Well, I'm glad someone got their figures. I still haven't got mine yet, and they've been out since the 30th of December and I had mine shipped EMS. -
Ghost in the Shell Special Edition DVD
Noriko Takaya replied to Mr March's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
First we get Ninja Scroll Special Edition. Now we get the GitS Special Edition. When are we going to get the Gunbuster Special Edition? I am so sorry, but I had to vent. I'm glad there is a special edition coming out. I do not own this on DVD yet as I have it on laserdisc. It will be worth it to me to get it, even if it is damned Manga who is putting it out. -
I know there are quite a few modellers and figure collectors here on the site, so I figured I'd share this bit of news with you, since there are also some BloodRayne fans here as well. I'm a little excited by this news as I am a big fan of both games. It would be cool to have a statue of her. I just thought others out there might like a chance at getting this once it is released. Visit Martian Factory for updated news in the future. And speaking of the demo as related to in the quote, there is a PC version of the first level that you can download at BloodRayne2.com.

Okay, I have watched the miniseries once again and I can finally say that I do like it. I was ticked off about it in the beginning, being old school and such since I grew up watching the original, but this show deserves a second (or third) viewing. I will be watching the new series.

You think this is bad? You should watch the trailer for the forthcoming BloodRayne film this loser has the rights for. I love both of the BloodRayne games and am sad to see this atrocity happen.

Turns out there are three secret figures out there from the look of things. This guy in Hong Kong is selling open sets with each secret figure. In addition to the secret Kazumi RX-7 it turns out that the normal black Sizzler figure has an alternate also. Images are below. -
For cheese lovers, this movie rocks. 'nuff said.

Great, just what we need, another squid... Seriously, without you and your boats, we Marines wouldn't have any transportation to get to where we can kill lots of bad guys. Have fun in the Navy and take advantage of everything they have to offer you. And when did the Navy start calling their boot camp basic? You sailors should know better...

There was a lawsuit brought up by Lucasfilm against Universal Pictures back in the 70's when Battlestar Galactica first aired stating some similarities between the first movie (Star Wars) and the pilot episode. I vaguely remember what became of it, but I think Lucas lost. If anything, the Borg from Star Trek are very blatant rip-offs of the Cybermen, and possibly the Daleks, from the British sci-fi series Doctor Who. If you were to put the two races together side by side, their modus operandi would exactly match. Example: Borg: "Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated..." Cyberman: "Why do you resist when it is useless to do so? You will become one of us. It is futile to resist." All in all, I think I will give the new series a chance. Even after blasting the movie, which since it aired I have rewatched. It kind of grows on you like a fungus.

Well, it looks as if the One Coin figures from Kotobukiya are shipping today. However, because of the New Year holiday, shipping may be postponed until the 4th of January when everyone goes back to work in Japan, or sooner hopefully. You can read the updated info on the collectors figures at this URL: http://www.kotobukiya.co.jp/kotobukiya/kotobukiyaindex.html. Mind you it is in Japanese. It looks as if the figures are going to be released in a set of six instead of the twelve as originally stated. They'll be about 3 inches or so high. The first run special figure is included with the set and it is rumored to be a special type Gunbuster figure or something. If you missed your chance to preorder one of these sets, they are already starting to show up on eBay. I don't know if they are legit or not because the two vendors I've seen selling them are from Hong Kong. May be bootlegs. As soon as I get mine, I will take some pictures to show everyone. -
Highlander: The Immortal Edition
Noriko Takaya replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Actually, the Director's Cut of this DVD has been around for quite a while. It was one of the first titles to come out on DVD when the format started to kick VHS's ass. Artisan Entertainment originally oversaw the new digital transfer with the THX and Dolby Digital encoding since they held the license to release it at the time. It more or less disappeared off the shelf until this new release. Since this release is the version I have, the only difference I can say between the two is the addition of the extra languages, the metal tin, and the songs by Queen. And all of the extras and the movie itself are on one disc instead of two. Overall, I like this version of Highlander a hell of a lot better than the original, and I was a fan of the movie when it first came out. The addition of the deleted footage really helped to make the story blend together a bit more and added more depth to the character of MacLeod.
