Great moments in anime....done in MS Paint
Noriko Takaya replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
And where did you get this notion? There is nothing about this in the movie. BOB tells the crew of the Palomino that Reinhardt killed McCrea's father. If you are referring to the scene at the end where the Cygnus is burning in Hell, where a face is behind Maximillian's shell, that is in fact Reinhardt. Okay, back on topic. -
Vulgar message deleted because Noriko does not want to start controversy. I am not a fanboy. Just stick to the topic.

I ran a search to find out if anyone has talked about this before, and didn't find anything about it. Seeing as how Episode III will be released later this year, I found it quite odd to find out that another Star Wars film is being released on April 16, 2005 in Baltimore, Maryland. And by fanboys at that! I wish I had found out about this earlier, because I would have reserved tickets to see it. I live 30 minutes away from this theatre. Anyways, there is a movie poster for it HERE and you can download a trailer for it HERE. And considering what the acting has been like in The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, this looks to be more promising than either of those films

Great moments in anime....done in MS Paint
Noriko Takaya replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
for a minute there I thought it was the floating robot from Disney's Black Hole movie. You mean Vincent? I love that little freak. Damn! The last time I was when I was a wee little boy. Man has it been that long? Yeesh I need to find the movie again. Everyone knows that the best robot from The Black Hole is Maximillian. He don't use lasers to kill his enemies. He shreds them up with his spinning blades! Okay, I couldn't draw his spinning blades, so sue me! -
If anyone here is interested in finding out what Hatch's version of Galactica would have been, there is a bit of info here on this site: http://www.cylon.org/bsg/bsg-2come-01.html There is some more about the other sequel here: http://www.cylon.org/bsg/bsg-desanto-01.html

Hey, it happens. I had a buddy in the Corps who married an officer in the Air Force. While the Corps frowns on officers fraternizing with enlisted men as does the other military branches, it's apparently okay to do so if they are in another branch of the service. As for Boomer and the Chief... Hey, he's the chief. He's a senior enlisted man. And everyone knows that it's the senior non-comms who basically run the show as to how well the troops work. So of course some young flighty hot chick pilot is going to find him sexy, no matter how ugly he is and how pissed off we get because it ain't us hittin' it. And by the way, to correct something:

Official - Weapons Banter Thread
Noriko Takaya replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hey, you want a better image of that weapon? Let me figure out what I did with my original issue Marine Corps Guidebook. It's listed in the book. I also had the honor of firing one of the last remaining launchers still in stock with the Corps back in '83 while in Infantry Training School. Yep, the Corps is old school when it comes to weapons. I think the Army got rid of theirs before we did. The damned thing had the loudest report of any rocket I fired, and I thought the ground based TOW and Dragon launchers were bad. -

HAHA... Awesome. You need some moon shaped ones too. Like a crescent. How's this? Sorry if I stole the work. -
Yummy! I'd definitely hit that a few hundred times! Grace is a babe. [drooling]

Get out the pitchforks and molotov cocktails! We've got some burning and pillaging to do! Yeeeehhaaawww! Seriously, I'm glad for once I have a modem. You can't download doo doo on them things nowadays. (By the way, I don't have one because they don't provide service where I live, which is bum-fukked-egypt.) So I am safe.

Thinking about working in Japan
Noriko Takaya replied to Pat Payne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Answer a little question for me. If you are a US citizen working in another country, does the IRS expect you to pay taxes on income earned in the mentioned country, even though that country may be pulling out taxes of their own? Always wanted to know this. -

You got one of those too? I got one off of eBay a few years back and the head was rolling off to the side. Then I had a tantrum, bought some crazy glue, and put her back together. I also have a nude Rei, but I do not know where she is, the little tramp.

Ah, but then I lose the joy of blowing a hole through them with my trusty H&K USP 45. However, I will change the swords around as you suggest and try them out. Second thought, why don't I just wear them?

If any of you are interested in what Yahoo Japan is offering for the classic Battlestar Galactica fan, go here: http://search.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/sear...cale=0jp&acc=jp. There is a really wonderful looking resin kit of the Colonial Viper there that I am thinking of getting. This kit actually looks pretty accurate as models go. If you look at the back of the Viper's engines, you'll notice that those are the ones used on the studio models used for filming. Monogram's old kit had engines based off of the full scale mock-up of the fighter.

Actually it's a Colt M16A2 with M203 grenade launcher, but you're right on it being a Tokyo Marui. I like airsoft as well as anime. Here is my real rifle below. Sorry to detract from the thread. C'mon guys, let's see some other collections!
-
Well, here is my pitiful collection. Please don't laugh too much. Since Ali was kind enough to share his, I figured I'd give him a laugh.
-
Crap, maybe we ought to have a thread dedicated to everyones' collections, so we can brag. I'd be at the bottom. I only have a few EVA, Gunbuster, and Final Fantasy X figures set out, as I hate to take all others out of the box. Those are packed away. Anyways, I like your collection. Where the hell do you sleep?

The Official Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread
Noriko Takaya replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
You got that right! The only import games I have ever bought were the PC Engine Gunbuster games when I still had a working system and Typing Gunbuster for the PC, but this new game has prompted me to buy it, and a compatible system to go with it. I can't wait until I get it! -
Well, if Hollywood is making a product of which 90% (as you say) is all crap, then why don't you write something and submit it yourself? With your expressive and fluent use of the English language, I'd say that you'd make a wonderful product. As for analog clocks not being sci-fi, you're wrong. They have long been a staple in science fiction, even when digital technology was around. NASA uses the hell out of them. And they are a space agency. And for someone who hates the show, you sure are watching it a lot.

It's sold. But the book seems to be shrinked wrapped; they may have more of it. To think I couldn't find it for so long that I jumped at a chance to buy it for US$40. Yeah, that was me who bought the book. I saw it, and when I got my first few answers I decided to buy it. The eBay auction was the cheapest I've seen this book anywhere, and it is brand new too. And yes, I was interested in it because of the Gunbuster artwork. Thanks guys for your help.

OFFICIAL dumbest looking toy
Noriko Takaya replied to Montarvillois's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Oh SHEE-IT! My brother had one of those! Jeezus, it was the freakiest thing ever. My brother never played with it because it scared the crap out of him. My mom ended up dumping it off at a Goodwill station or something if I remember right... -
The book whose image I have supplied at the bottom looks intriguing to me since I am a big fan of Mikimoto's work. I do not see this book on MW anywhere, so this is why I am asking. Is this book (titled My Time) the same one released by US Renditions as Haruhiko Mikimoto Illustrations? I know the titles are different, but the illustrations for some of the art inside look the same. If anyone has these books, let me know.
