  1. Man, I want one of those...
  2. Well, I have not seen the film yet, but have read the novel. I will see the movie Friday. But in the novel, Palpatine admits that Plagueis was his master and that he killed him while he slept.
  3. Yep. That's how we end up with Roger Corman crapfests like Battle Beyond the Stars. Corman states this rather blatantly in his commentary on the DVD that he was trying to copy off of the success of the original Star Wars.
  4. Then what do you call the encampment of dead Tusken Raiders on Tatooine? Target practice? Granted, they had a hand in Shmi's death, but Anakin murdered them all (women and children included) just the same. Tuskens versus Dooku is the difference between white hot rage and passion taking over versus a good moment for premeditation and consideration. 2nd ("hot" blooded) versus 1st ("cold" blooded) degree murder. Murder is murder no matter how you try to define it.

  6. Am I sick then, or am I the only one who was awaiting the rise of the Empire? Time to clean house and purge the galaxy of your enemies.
  7. What makes Oprah a "egotistical, liberal-minded elitist?" Egotistical because she is good at what she does? Explain please. I can't explain really. I just don't like her. Never have. She reminds me of a lot of the libber elitists I know here in Maryland who think they know everything because they have money and prestige. And I have watched her show. About the only thing good about her I can say is that I liked her performance in The Color Purple. Shoot me.
  8. Hmmm... I'm pretty sure Oprah wasn't one of the things that is "best in life"... Crom might be angry with such girlie ways, A1. ... Yes, but CROM approves of Beaver. Crom also says that one should know his enemy, especially the egotistical, liberal-minded elitist who can have her way on television by saying anything she wants to. (If she can say blow job and penis on live television without being fined while radio personalities like Howard Stern get fined millions for saying the same things she does, then something is wrong here.) As for me, my girlfriend does not complain at all about the fact I collect anything related to Gunbuster, even at the ridiculous prices they go for because of its rarity. She also puts up with my running my site. She even likes anime. She took me to see Innocence for my birthday and also got me a pre-painted Misato Katsuragi resin statue the same day without my even knowing about it in advance. Then she went through the hell of bidding on a pair of Devil Hunter Yohko art books on Yahoo Japan she knew I wanted and actually won them. I got those for Christmas last year. So, my girlfriend is A-OK in my books. Besides, she can't really harp on my stuff, because she is just as bad, if not worse when it comes to stuff related to medieval times.
  9. I listen mostly to classical and 80's music. I do like some of the new stuff, but not enough to warrant starting new collections. I know this sounds gay, but I also love the Go Go's; I actually got to meet Jane Wiedlin backstage at one of their last concerts together at Irvine Meadows back in '84. She was friggin' beautiful.
  10. Around the year 2245, when the Galactic Core Attack Fleet returns to Earth, Jung is inaugurated as the president of the Earth Federation. It is also during this time that a rescue operation is started by Tatsumi Tashiro to locate the missing Gunbuster and its crew. Both Jung and Tashiro are placed in suspended animation until the mission is ready to go underway. In the year 2289 the mission is delayed, and by 2306 it is scrubbed altogether. I assume that Jung and Tashiro are taken out of stasis when this happens, but it is also conjecture that Jung may have allowed herself to stay in cryosleep until Noriko and Kazumi returned. I'm also assuming that the Next Generation series takes place in 2489, as Top Squadron is reformed under the name S-Top. Most of this is from a timeline I have been able to compile from stuff I have found floating around on the net. It is far from complete and may contain a few errors.
  11. No, I do not have the Cold War Service Medal as it was never approved by the military. I do have the certificate though. As for the KDSM, the medal was passed into law by G.W. Bush back in 2002, to honor veterans who served in Korea. See the links provided to see if you are eligible. http://foxfall.com/csm-common-kdsm.htm http://www.amervets.com/replacement/kdsm.htm The form to fill out if you meet the criteria but have been out of the service for a while is here: https://lnweb1.manpower.usmc.mil/manpower/m...doc?OpenElement Mind you this is for Marine Corps personel only. The Army has their own system which I am unsure of
  12. Sorry to be so way OFF TOPIC, but I am so flabergasted with this I had to share it with you guys, some of you who have served in the military. I just found out that I am going to be awarded the Korean Defense Service Medal for time in country operating near the DMZ in 1983. For those of you vets out there who served during the Cold War years and did not do time in wonderful spots like Nam, Beruit, Grenada, and Panama among others, you probably have the same group of ribbons I do associated with peacetime activity. While this may seem trivial to some, this is exciting news for me, even though I never fired a shot in anger. Sorry to sound like I'm bragging. I'm just excited to have something to add to my piddly overseas service award and good conduct medal. And, if there are any members here who served in Korea near the DMZ, PM me if you would like to find out if you are eligible for the award. Mods, close the thread when its run its course. Thanks!
  13. And the funny thing is that they probably aren't even in the military. From what I've heard, most high school age kids and young adults are encouraged, probably even required to keep firearms such as the ones featured to help protect smaller children going to school. God, if only things were like that here in the states as it used to be, the country would probably be a safer place. No, it's almost certain they're in the military. Everyone in Isreal has to enter the reserves at 18, and they're required to carry their weapons at all times. I sorta wish I lived there.... If I recall correctly from listening to G. Gordon Liddy's show when he visited Israel, there were quite a few people carrying personal sidearms and automatic rifles that were not in the IDF. His military guides said as much when they were escorting him through parts of the areas he was visiting when he asked. This was why I brought that up in my earlier post. And another thing, if you notice, some of the weapons aren't loaded. They just have a magazine attached to the weapon for easy access. If they were military, I would think the weapons would be locked and cocked.

  15. That's really surprising considering that turkeys can see you coming from a mile away with that razor sharp eye sight of theirs.
  16. Sarah Jane Smith asked the Doctor this very question while she was under the drugged influence of Hieronymous in the story "The Masque of Mandragora". While she technically did ask him this, Sarah was not in her own mind. Just a little correction on my part, sorry.
  17. So do I. On my plate. With broccoli. At the Hong Kong Buffet in Edgewater, MD.
  18. Here's another while we are doing monitor screens...
  19. I'll take a guess. Is it from one of the Evil Dead movies? Maybe Evil Dead II or possibly Army of Darkness?
  20. not true. there was the audio only version Not true. I'm sure the paper-only version was black & white... Okay, the George Pal version was in color all the time. Now, are you happy?
  21. This is great! Obi Wan using a blaster! Apparently this weapon was not "clumsy or random" when he needed one.
  22. God, I wish I had a god-like body. I'm built more like the Pillsbury Dough Boy now than my former marine self. (Mentally kicks self in nuts to get off his ass and work out)
  23. Kirk and company. Bones cracked me up. "Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a bricklayer."
  24. And you didn't even invite me. I've been itching to unload my 30 round M16 mags all winter too...
