You know, I always thought that Kamjin sounded a lot like a bad James Mason impersonator.

You can also buy the series Macross Plus as well as Macross II here in the US subtitled as well. As for Macross 7 and its offspring as well as Macross Zero, it will probably be a cold day in hell before they make their way over here. And if you are looking for a Japanese DVD that has English subtitles, then I wish you good luck. While there are a few, the vast majority of anime titles officially released in Japan do not include English subtitles.

My birthday was on the 6th. I'm officially an old fart now. Hit the big 4-OH.

Jeez, if you were up here in Maryland, USA, I could point you to a model shop in Laurel that has three of them in stock. It comes in a huge ass box. Shipping would be a killer.

This part of the story really appealed to me!

Show off your coolest non-Macross toys & models
Noriko Takaya replied to danth's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Here is the only completed science fiction related model I have of a vehicle. Although it is not Japanese made, the series itself is still very popular in Japan. Five cookies to the person who can identify the ship and the show it is from. And no cheating!- 80 replies

There's no school like the old school. If these so-called new anime fans want to know anything about true anime, then they need to watch some of the classic stuff. Most of the writing back then was a lot better, and there was more of a sense of adventure. Some of the new stuff that comes out these days just doesn't affect me the way some of the older shows did. Anyways, I'm glad you like Macross at your age. I only know of one other person who does and she is my best friend's 16 year-old daughter. She even has the AnimEigo DVD set, which goes to show you she has class. And if you want to try some other old school stuff, watch Gatchaman.

The Official Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread

Well, I think it was not meant to be played with but left in the box. It does say adult collectable on the box. And I had no problem getting my figure to pose. I did have to glue the damned plasma cloud or whatever it is to the foot though. -
Street Fighter could have been made better...I was disapointed with Blanka the most. Raul Julia did do a superb job as Bison. And the chick that played Kami was hot. 336335[/snapback] I liked the chick who played Chun Li better. Ming Na is a babe. Then again, I've had yellow fever forever, even though I love all women. Damn girlfriend to burning hell for forcing me to see Joy Luck Club, but I got revenge because I slobbered over Ming Na.

That's strange. When I click on the link, I get this: I had to copy and paste the URL to see the picture.

It seems that Top! 2 is following in the footsteps of its big sister by going the route of the radio drama. You can access the show by clicking this link http://onsen.ag/meta/buster1004.asx or just simply go the the page it is listed on HERE. -
New game law in California........
Noriko Takaya replied to MGREXX's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hey, games are political. It sucks saying that, but it's true. Just another hobby of ours that is in danger of being restricted. Just thinking, the holodeck on the Enterprise as used in Star Trek:TNG. I realize that this is fictitious, but you could do anything on that game deck. Sex, violence, what-have-you... And there were kids on that ship. How do you think something like that would be affected by today's standards? I think it never would have been created. -
New game law in California........
Noriko Takaya replied to MGREXX's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
If you want to look at it this way, I consider the ESRB rating system to be a kind of law in itself. But I guess it should be taken more as a "I bear no responsibility for what your kids do because I rated the game" label. This is where I'm coming up with the whole law thing. To me, the rating label is just another form of censorship. I still say parents should do the right thing and police their children. Research the shit before you actually buy it. -
Film comics have been around for a long time here in the States. I remember buying a couple of Star Trek related ones when I was kid. By the way, I have 2 of them myself. Care to guess what series they are from? What! You already know! Damn...

New game law in California........
Noriko Takaya replied to MGREXX's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You know, I agree with what you say with the first part of this statement. Children should be kept out of those liberal places. But why add on to a law that is already established? Either you uphold it or you don't. That is the trouble with making new laws. It's a touchy feely kind of approach to make everyone think something is going to get done, but never does. Why not start adhering to the first law, send out scouts to buy games, and then nail the suckers breaking the law in the first place? The tobacco and alcohol industries have been doing this for years. And to top it off, nail the idiot trying to buy the game also with some kind of penalty. Parents will think twice about what their kids are doing if they bring home a ticket with a $200 fine attached. -
New game law in California........

First of all, why is a retailer selling a 9 year-old one of these games in the first place when there are already laws on the books regarding the sale of said games to minors in the first place. Of course the retailer should get burned for it if he gets caught. Then again, we get parents who listen to the adolescent urges of their children on how they must have these games because they are so cool and so trendy, but fail to do any research on the background of those games. A parent should be involved in every aspect of what their child is doing, even bordering on the grounds of actual spying to make sure their kids are doing the right thing. That is their job. Parents are not there to be best buddies with their children. That "Okay, I'll get them that INSERT HERE and he and his friends will think I'm the coolest parent on the block!" mentality is what's wrong with youth today. Parents no longer take responsibility for what their children do. Before long game designers are going to start getting sued because of what idiots do with their products. You watch. It will be coming. You have been warned. On a lighter note, I find it quite funny that the country the United States fought for so long during the cold war get more and more freedom by the day, while the US seems to be losing more and more each day. Why did we need another law when there is already one in place? More money taken from the taxpayer by a bureaucratic idiot (sorry Arnold) to fund something utterly useless which will do absolutely nothing. It's just like the gun industry. Soon we will have a two week waiting period to buy Mario Cart because the police need to do a background check. Yeah, laugh it up. It's coming... -
Here's one I made. Sorry about the size.

My lame attempt at finding these gifs since no one has posted from this series.

Peter Jackson to exec produce HALO movie
Noriko Takaya replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Turok. Seeds of Evil. Yeah, the game would be my kind of movie. Bad-assed Injun with a cerebral bore. Hell, it was the only N64 game I liked next to GoldenEye and its copycat, Perfect Dark. As for the Halo project, yeah... Good news. -

One other thing, the Japanese are an odd lot sometimes. I found these pictures over at a fan site devoted to Miyuu Sawai, and it seems that at even at a young age (below 18), photobooks and DVD's featuring teen stars scantilly clad are all over the place. Try doing that here in the US and you may have the federal government banging your door down. Example below:

Well, from what I could find out, the chick who played Sailor Venus, Ayaka Komatsu is doing something close to light porn (see images), while the babe who played Sailor Saturn, Mew Azama has currently wrapped up shooting a 2006 calendar. I don't know about Chisaki Hama as her website blocks all attempts to visit her homepage outside of Japan. Either she just doesn't want the foreign attention, or she is scared to death of gaijin fanboys. Miyuu Sawai seems to have a part in the Full Metal Alchemist movie which came out in July of this year, and she is also appearing in a television drama on October 20th at 8:00 p.m. on Asahi National Broadcasting Co. Someone record it and let us know what it's like.
