Robotech and HG license debates
Noriko Takaya replied to Roy Focker's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'm too lazy to search through this thread, but has anyone heard about Takara's takeover of Tatsunoko Productions? -
"classic" Movies That You Piss On
Noriko Takaya replied to Agent ONE's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Add The Music Man, Doctor Zhivago, and the Sound Of Music to that list of movies I hate. And while we are at it, put down The Wizard Of Oz. Yeah, it may be blasphemous, but after growing up watching it every year, the movie blows. -

Dude, I'm a huge fan, and even I am not blinded like some to the travesty that is this film. -
The Official Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread

Most of you out there already know how I feel about this series, but I'm reserving my final judgement on it until after I see the final episode and see how they are supposed to tie this series in with the first one. I for one do not believe the alien Uchuu Seijin are the same as the Uchuu Kaijuu in the original Top 1. However, this story gets weirder and weirder as it goes by, which is why I would like to wait until the end. A lot of you do make some interesting points though, and it will be exciting to see how things pan out. -
Well, considering your order totals about $316 at todays current exchange rate, weight and the amount of packages sent to you comes into play. If you can afford it, go with EMS. You are more apt to get your order. If you're worried about cost, you should be. The shipping alone on the Aliens dropship is $35 by itself. Then figure your other stuff in. HLJ may help you with a total, though.

Bloodrayne Statues Now On Sale! (update)
Noriko Takaya replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Okay, I finally got my BloodRayne statue from Martian Factory today and the first thing I found was that her right arm was broken, despite the fact that they used an ammo dump's worth of styrofoam peanuts and other insulation to pack her. Easy enough to fix, and it doesn't even show. However, while I think this model is excellently detailed, the person who painted it must have been cross-eyed. I mean, come on... For the price they charged for these things, you'd think they could pay a professional figure painter. I've seen one-coin figures with better paint jobs. There are spots where the painter just ran over the lines, like a 2 year-old with a coloring book. And then there is the kit itself. It could have used a little putty here and there to fill in the seams, but Martian Factory was rushed to get these things out, so they cut back a little it seems (No pun intended). With this said, the best thing about this model is the base. While the thought of a dismembered victim lying at Rayne's feet with the gore in all its glory showing turns some people off, this is really well done. The stuff they used to imitate the blood looks positively real, and I had to touch it to see if it is wet. The images below do not do this justice. It really does look like Rayne just cut this thing open. In finishing, I would give this resin statue a 7 out of ten. It is a decent enough figure, but a professional builder and painter would have boosted this to a 10. And the fact that there are only 200 of them being produced, the price would have been justified by a good paint job. Images are below. Sorry about the file sizes, but I wanted them large enough for you to see. -

Well... I've just finished rewatching all four of the currently released fansubs, and while my take on it for the moment is still bordering on the "okay" side of things, this series may gradually be somewhat to my liking. I still hate the mecha designs and the whole special powers thing though... -

Well, I currently own the Noriko Takaya 1/6 doll from Takara, but it has never been out of it's case. And I currently have on order these two Evangelion figures by Medicom.

You mean this one? This is one I scratch built about ten years ago. I even have the commlock communicator device. You know, I also had that same toy set-up. It came with three figures, Koenig, Bergman, and Russell, and had the stunguns and a laser rifle. There was also a winch where you could lift stuff, and the command module separated from the main body and linked with the rear engines. I had that thing for years up until I went into the Corps and then it mysteriously disappeared...

Fag! I'm kidding! I actually have that awful movie on VHS around here somewhere! I liked it when I was a kid because I was in love with Olivia Newton-John. I secretly like Grease also... God, I am so gay...

"classic" Movies That You Piss On
Noriko Takaya replied to Agent ONE's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You want classics? I positively think that "The Ten Commandments" is way overrated and "El Cid" blows chunks. Although, I did like the soundtrack to "El Cid". As for BR, I am so glad I still have my Criterion laserdisc of the original version of the movie. I really hate the crap that is for sale now. -
I am probably one of the biggest fans of that dilapidated 70's era Star Trek rip-off that you will ever know, and the Eagle Transporter is probably one of my most favorite of science fiction space craft. I wish I had known about these posters before now. Just look at some of the detail that was put into these. Has anyone out there who is a fan of the show have them? If so, what are they like up close?

Well some one called it the Zeros on t.v last night but some are still calling it the naughties. kinda sounds a bit sauded to me on par with swinging sixties. I dont know you decide. 356794 I think we should call it the "Double Ought" decade.

The closest one to me is just under 200 miles in New Brunswick. 318173 Are you talking about New Brunswick Canada? If you are which part of the province? 318878 Damn, someone dug up this thread... No, I meant New Brunswick, New Jersey. I live in Maryland, halfway down the eastern coast of the United States. As for the White Castle trip, my girlfriend and some other buddies took me to the Mutter Museum in Philly for my birthday, and on the way we took a detour (a big one at that!) to a White Castle. Seems they all wanted to go to the damned place because of the movie. I finally got them to watch it. We were supposed to go to the WC in New Brunswick, but had to get off at an exit to get gas just over the Jersey state line, and came across one which had just been built and was not even listed on their site. And you know what? I felt just like those two idiots did when I got there. It was friggin' great! Here's a pic:

What the hell you talkin' about? I have Comcast and I am watching the SciFi Channel right now.

Is anyone going to catch UNDERWORLD?
Noriko Takaya replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
My girlfriend loved Underworld, and is forcing me to go see the sequel with her when it is released. While I didn't care for the first one, I do want to see more of Kate Bekinsdale. She is hot. -
Happy New Year everybody. Off to the range to pop some caps and then have dinner with the ball and chain. Hope everyone has a great day!

The Official Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread
Noriko Takaya replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hey, thanks! Here's an image of that trio together. I think they should have made something this in a larger size, possibly 1/5 or 1/6 scale, in resin. God, it would be expensive, but nice also. -

I've already ordered it now that you've shown me. I've also got the new one coin figures ordered and have the old one coin figures as well. I'm thinking the trio you mentioned is the original set of Gunbuster one coin figures. -
Film Remake Question
Noriko Takaya replied to the white drew carey's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, the only movie I can come up with right now is Ben Hur. The first time it was shot on film was in 1907, and the people who made the film were successfully sued for copyright infringement because the writer of the book never authorized it. There was another version shot in 1925 and even though it was a silent movie, the naval battle and the chariot race are pretty damn good to watch. Then of course is the version we all love with Chuck Heston, William Wyler's classic 1959 remake of Ben Hur. Edit: Mispelled successfully. -
Actually, the newbie has been referring to Macross and Macross Plus as Robotech since he started posting.

Af-3 Bat - Anyone Make This Model?
Noriko Takaya replied to Rrotz's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Shouldn't that be a Northrup Grumman ALQ-250(V) active sensor jammer? Westinghouse hasn't existed as a defense contractor for some time now. Ugh! I can't believe that I'm contributing to glorified Robocrap statistics... -

Yeah, that's it, but this one will be mine and not Martian Factory's. Plus, I'll get close-ups.
