  1. I got mine of Saturday and all I can say is "Wow!" I absolutely love this thing! It is awesome! It is definitely worth the price paid for it, and it really puts the SHE model to shame, which happens to be way smaller and a couple of hundred dollars more in price. I'm glad I bought both models, but the Chogokin Gunbuster is one that I will be proud to display without having to worry if it is going to get broken.
  2. I got my Chogokin Gunbuster today also and have been playing with it for the better part of an hour. This thing is awesome. And it was definitely worth the price, as this thing is nearly unbreakable. The SHE model, while very pretty and extremely fragile, does not even come close to the quality of this toy. I have both of these models, and I can honestly say the SHE model will stay in the closet where it will not get damaged. I want the Chogokin out there for everyone to see. Then if someone gets out of line, I can konk them on the head with it.
  3. Yay! My Gunbuster is on the way!
  4. Oy! Come on Renato! You do know that there is already a mega Gunbuster thread. Have thou forgotten? It is located here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=20130.
  5. Their server crashed yesterday, but it's now back online. They announced on their front page that order processing would be delayed a bit. For me, this is always the case. Everytime I order something from them, I get a message back saying they can't process orders because of some holiday or event and that it will have to wait.
  6. Thou needest to have thy thread viewing privileges revoked, kind sir. Old news...
  7. Looks like The Gunbuster Index will need a major overhaul once the set is released. All I've had to go on for the last decade is the information provided by the old US Renditions tapes. Now that the series is going to be professionally translated, I may have to go and change some things around. I know some areas are not perfect, but I wonder what did I get wrong? Edit: I wonder if now would be the time to seek official representation of my website? I mean, I have been on the radar for the past few years, and Gainax is aware of me. Hopefully this does not mean I will be shut down...
  8. This is from the Anime News Network:
  9. Heard about the street date release for Gunbuster and I am so excited. This has been a blockbuster year for Top! 1 fans, what with Bandai's license acquisition and all of the new toys and such coming out. My wallet is a lot thinner now, but I'm not complaining. Hope next year is even better!
  10. I'm still trying to get over how big the host's ears are...
  11. Yep, read a couple of books on the landing and found it to be fascinating in terms of how environment and even gravity itself played out in this battle. Those damned neap tides... There were 3000 Marine casualties, while the Japanese suffered 4700, leaving 17 survivors from that lot. As for the film showing the horrors of that battle, they showed it to us while I was in boot camp as part of our military history course. I do not know if they still show it or not, but it definitely made you open your eyes.
  12. I'm still waiting for someone to make a movie about the battle for Betio Island, otherwise known as Tarawa. Perhaps one of the most brutal battles of the Pacific campaign.
  13. My K-Bar is plenty enough for me. Better than that POS M9 bayonette used by the Army. Any decent Marine with an average knowledge of Corps history will tell you the history of this famous knife. So John Cena can play with his girly knife because he ain't no jarhead.
  14. The only thing missing from the films credits is Uwe Boll's name. This sounds exactly like something he would do.
  15. I've kinda been thinking about this one. When Lark pulls Earth out of orbit, shouldn't have Earth's eco system been destroyed? I mean, pulling the planet out of orbit would have been cataclysmic on a Biblical scale. There would have been tremendous gravitational stress on the continents, and the sudden drop in temperature would have killed off what plant and animal life remained on the planet. The atmosphere probably would have been torn away too. Then there are other things that would go wrong. But here we have Lark ten years later standing on the surface watching birds fly by and grasses blowing in the wind. Granted, mankind probably has the ability to terraform, but they would have to get Earth back into its original orbit, not to mention tilting it back on its proper axis. That would take longer than ten years. I realize that a lot of you out there like this series, but it's like a slap in the face to the hardcore Gunbuster fan. Ugh! The more I think about it, the more I realize that I do not like this show. But that's me. And now they are going to tie the two series together by having Noriko and Lark speak? Argh! I am now going to go outside and play in traffic.
  16. Thought I would share this image with you from Gainax's front page. A Gunbuster related image not featuring the women, but the men, of the series. And I must say, this drawing has to be one of the best I have seen submitted to Gainax. I just wish I could blow the image up to 1600 x 1200 without any distortion. Enjoy!
  17. Yeah, what he said. Actually, I did not hate it as much as I did when I first saw episode 1. But to me I feel the series was missing a lot of what the first one had going for it. While the artwork was fine, I feel that Diebuster would have been more believable as a sequel if someone had at least asked Mikimoto to consider doing this series. His characterizations lent more plausability and emotion to the original story than the current series. And God no, I do not want to see another sequel. Gainax would be dangerously treading the ground that the evil dark lord George Lucas has...
  18. I got 2 on preorder through HLJ. One to play with, the other to store.
  19. I love my N64 and will probably never part with it. Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is perhaps one of my favorite games of all time, with GoldenEye and Perfect Dark counted in among them. Until it blows up, I'm keeping mine.
  20. I think I just had a happy ending...
  21. Well, I have finally got my Studio HalfEye Gunbuster model and all I have to say is "?" I knew it was small, but jeez... Fellow member Gunbuster is right. Half of me wants to cry, but the other half is extremely ecstatic over owning one of these. I have a piece of Gunbuster memorabilia that is really expensive, extremely rare, and which I may never be able to sell in the future should I ever decided to get rid of it. On the upside, the model is very nice to look at, despite its size. And very detailed also. A lot of effort went into designing the model. Mind you, because of its fragile state, I will not be transforming it. Ever! It looks as if you goof just one time, "SNAP!", and it's all over with. Bye-bye $500. smackers or whatever coinage you paid for it. The accessories are cool also. As soon as I can find a quiet area to unpack the entire box without distraction, I'll try to lay them out and snap photos. So, I guess I can rightfully say that I am now an uber fan of Gunbuster and that my title will remain unchallenged. Although Gunbuster did come awfully close as he also owns one of these kits.
  22. Dude, when Bandai/Honneamise decides to inform us of the release date, rest assured it will be posted here http://www.bandaivisual.us/gunbuster/ as well as other places. And stay away from that bootleg.
  23. Not to mention how George Takei's voice has changed over the years...
  24. Yep, and if you read the text closely on the ad, you will notice that it will be released as a PVC statue. Still though, the original kit was pretty impressive as it was quite large. Seeing as how I will never get around to putting mine together, I will probably buy this one. Edit: By the way, larger image:
