  1. Came across this one while searching around for whatever... It's Keiko Kitagawa, that hot chick who played Rei in the live action Sailor Moon TV show. Since she does some serious modelling and acting, you would figure she'd know what she's wearing.
  2. You cannot lump Gunbuster in with these others as it was not adapted for the American market. US Renditions, which was owned by a Japanese firm, provided the translations for the series in an attempt to provide faithful and accurate translations of Japanese anime for fans of the genre. While done poorly, Gunbuster was not Americanized like a lot of the series listed here. Those others were done to appeal to a more broad base of viewer than actual fans.
  3. My opinion, you'd get better enjoyment out of watching Battlestar Galactica.
  4. Sorry, this is a joke, but I couldn't resist this when I came across it.
  5. Full auto, of course, being an M16 variant. Speaking of which, Bushmaster makes these in semi-auto, and they are fun to fire. They are also loud as hell.
  6. So, is Darryl Hannah going to be in this one too?
  7. Heaven's gonna need a bigger boat. So long, Roy...
  8. Well, I haven't seen anyone else mention this yet, but over at the Anime News Network they announced today that Gurren Lagann has been removed from ADV Film's website, as well as a few other series. Looks like it may not be coming to the States after all if this news is true. I wonder what happened...
  9. I picked a 1000 years. I want to live in a world ruled by damn dirty apes.
  10. Hey there! It's been a long while since I have posted anything on these boards, but I just wanted to let you know I got my copy of the Gunbuster vs Diebuster Aim for the Top! The GATTAI!! Movie today and I'm pretty excited about it. Yeah, I know I'm not that big a fan of Diebuster, but the cards which came with the set are great. New artwork for my site! And I like the little figurines too!
  11. God, that sucks! And why would you mess with the theme song. It was horrible.
  12. He actually should have showed up before the Bionic Woman. In the original, it was Steve Austin's influence that got Oscar Goldman to approve Jamie Sommers surgery. I saw the first episode and while it was okay, it was not enough to make me devote an hour of my life each Wednesday.
  13. Anime: Gunbuster (But you already knew that.) TV Series: Space: 1999 (Past) Firefly (Semi-Current) Stargate Atlantis (Present) Movies: Logan's Run (Past. Star Wars is too much of a cliche because of its popularity.) Robocop (Old, but it's still better than some of the crap out there now.)
  14. Just saw on ANN that a British distributor will be releasing this series in February 2008, with plans on releasing it in North America shortly thereafter. This is good news for fans of the show like myself, as it has never been available for release here in the States.
  15. And I was a grunt who wanted to re-enlist to get into tanks, because I was tired of humping everywhere. I even took the required courses provided by the Marine Corps Institute to learn how to become part of a tank crew. Mind you, the tank the Corps still used at the time was the M60A1, with its piddly little 105mm main gun. The one good thing about the classes I took were the hands on stuff. Part of the requirements for passing were learning to drive the thing and understanding the operations of the weapons systems. My platoon commander was pissed I missed field training because I had to go to Las Pulgas to do these things. However, when I decided not to re-enlist because of a shortage of grunts, I got out.
  16. Steve Buscemi as "Exedore". The wood-chipper man is heinous enough to be a deformed Zentraedi.
  17. Just to let you know, these cards were also issued with the Carddass Masters Gunbuster card set a few years back. Below you will see them in their original Japanese and coloring. The hair coloring is the same on the originals as it is on the ones released with the R1 DVD set.
  18. Loved this movie when I was a kid, and I still love it. It is a lot more faithful to the original comic than this new series which is playing on Sci Fi. However, despite the lack of extras on the R1 release, I decided to go for the R2 release instead. Why they won't release discs here in the States with all the extras everyone else seems to get is beyond me...
  19. As promised from earlier, here is a scan of my badge from Otakon 2007.
  20. As much as Noriko is my favorite character, I really would like to see Kazumi and Jung figures also. I will be getting this one also. My collection grows.
  21. Finally! I can now ditch that crappy Criterion laserdisc for a fresh version of the original cut.
  22. While not an anime, don't forget about Keita Amemiya's film Zeiram. Media Blasters has re-released the film under their Tokyo Shock label and there is finally a subtitled version. The crappy dubbed version from before is still there though.
