Latest completed build: VF-25S Messiah
funkymonkeyjavajunky replied to Jefuemon's topic in Model kits
Loving the missiles. Too bad the VF-25 toy series doesn't include hardpoints and missiles. -
Snagged one (a reasonable $148). It looks like waiting saved me around $40

I have managed to transform (carefully) my toy to gerwalk. The crappy/breakable parts bent a little, but I adjusted the arms downward to remove as much pressure as possible. I have no doubt that if I fiddle with the arms too much the parts in question will break.

Yes, we get that the price raised to retail. Our main complaint is that NY changes prices on preorders constantly. I guess they are the only company that acquires third-party sources, and that may justify the fluctuations. But, considering everyone is purchasing the same toy, it rather sucks to be the guy who pays $20-40 more.

Given that this is the fourth variation with the same mold, and NY raised the price $25, I'll wait. I get the impression that these valks will be available after release, and at a better price.

Have Macross become out of reach for collectors
funkymonkeyjavajunky replied to slaginpit's topic in Toys
If collecting these toys was easy then we wouldn't derive nearly as much satisfaction when we acquire a particularly hard to find piece (or at a reasonable cost). A lot of the fun is in the hunt. -
Received my SAL shipped RVF-25 Super Parts from NY. Love the detailing on the ghosts. Also, I like how these sets have an extra outer shipping box containing the product box. It provides a bit of extra protection during transit. I managed to fit the entire squadron into one section of my Detolf unit.

Finally, a complete squadron (couldn't fit the VF-25A into the shot). Just waiting on armor for the RVF-25.

My VF-25G super parts finally arrived. The package shipped on 11/01 by SAL and took 15 days to arrive in Seattle, WA.

I'm guessing that most of us on this forum collect Macross toys; but, do we all have a house with a basement or storage to put all the boxes (considering what we pay for the toys we don't throw them away)? I live in a one-bedroom condo with little/no storage so all my boxes are carefully stacked in a closet. I pulled everything out of the closet and reorganized, freeing up a little more space (for more valk boxes ). Any feedback as to what you do to store toy boxes?

Mine also shipped from NY. Very slow processing. They must be using turtles.

Did anyone ever figure out how to (safely) mount a gunpod to this bird?

Well, what would would we do with all that extra money if we had no Macross toys to buy next year?
-
Drat, I spoke too soon. Upon careful examination, one of my NUNS parts has begun to deform after I transformed it to gerwalk. It's only a matter of time before it splits entirely.

I finally bit the bullet and decided to transform to gerwalk Fortunately, nothing broke, but I hate those shoulders. Too many delicate parts.

Wait a sec. I thought my Macross Airforce dominated North Seattle?
-
I agree. No hurry to pay for this item until a couple days before release.
-
Now the waiting begins.
-
Same for me. It's been a while since I purchased a toy for under $150 shipped.

HLJ screwed up an order (no longer in stock and gave me a 10% coupon to smooth things over). I did lose a little money (aka service fee) when my PayPal funds were returned.

Preordered at HLJ for 26,568 yen (I had a coupon).
