You can't start a poll and then decide on your own... we own you now buddy! People are always asking what they should spend their money on... heh... I just made the tying vote towards the VF-1S Bandai... I was looking for some input to hep decide, then you guys go and be split right down the middle! At this time 11 Yamato 1S, 11 Bandai 1S, and 7 Bandai 1J. I am actually quite surprized the love is split evenly. I ordered a Yamato tonight for him. Decided to go with the detail. I do like seeing all the varying opinions on the gift choices though.

Return of the King Extended dvd preview

Yeah, about the same size, that way they can act as "bookends" 5"W x 4/5"H x 5.5"D -
Once the EA builds more Windams. They're kind of out right now.
-
I look at these 4 gundams more like technical concept protoypes really, with phase shift thrown in, and extra weapons. Different transformation concepts for each stolen Gundam and in the Impulse's case designed to work with the sillouette packs. The actual performance between the Zakus and Gundams are comparable it seems. The Zakus are still top of the line suits, and use the Strike Pack-style setup, with either the booster, or Gunner packs. Watching Yzak and Dearka in Ep. 9, you know those Zakus are excellent mobile suits. One shot from the Gunner Zaku to destroy a cap ship for instance. The only thing those two lost from their old Gundams was Phase Shift, and again, Phase Shift don't mean much at all anymore now that everyone uses beam weaponry.

And the Eva manga will then end different on top of that.

hmm... I'd have to rewatch it... but I didn't mind the ending... it wasn't an ending perse but what happned minutes before the first game. Skeith was too powerful so they all abondened the field and logged out... and so Aura was still needing to run away from Skeith, which you see at the start of the first game... and I can't remember how they fixed it so that Tsukasa could go back to this body. Maybe the forced reboot of the characters in that dropped field kicked Tsukasa back to her body. Getting kicked out would be a different setup than dying in a game set up to respawn. Kind of lucky, she could have just died for real (think pulling the plug while in Matrix). No other option given Skeith, so Helba pulled the switch. I wouldn't touch the damn game again that's for sure, but then in Unison there (s)he is logged in after an absence. Never played the games so I don't know the rest of the story.

Wow, I didn't expect the vote to be almost a tie still after several hours.

Return of the King Extended dvd preview

Just bought the Extended Return of the King today. No time to pop the disc in unfortunately, but at least the Minas Tirith polystone is slick looking. Nice bonus. I skipped the other two giftsets, but got this one for sure. The symphony disc might be interesting too. One bummer when I looked at the Minas Morgul polystone order form, is that Minas Morgul has a price tag of $75 dollars!!! That kinda sucks, cause the Minas Morgul display looks uber sweet too. It's still kind of tempting though, but for 75 bucks I doubt it. -
Bio weapons may not work. http://www.gundamofficial.com/worlds/ce/ba...tml#coordinator Coordinators carry resistance to diseases so biological weapons would be hard to use. Chemical weapons would probably be more effective since they are move of toxins and agents that no biological life has any resistance to. I forgot all about that, coordinators are immune to most diseases, so yeah, Biological weapons may not work. Chemical weapons are always another story. No matter how good your immune system is, a strong enough nerve or blood agent will kill you damn quick.

Yeah, I've just finished watching SEED and I also seem to recall a few times where Kira did the multi-target thing in Freedom without being in SEED mode. It seems to be more a function/ability of Freedom rather than part of Kira's abilities IMO. Graham And then with the meteor it hit something like 50 targets simultaneous instead of the 10 or so.

Very cool, but way too steep.

Maybe the region coding will be based on developer's preference wether it goes R2 only or not?
-
Ah, the Macross equivalent of Coal in the Stocking.

A matter of personal preference. Metroid looks pretty cool. The stylus could have an advantage in a number of games. Likewise the PSP (a working one ) has it's own advantages. Doesn't matter to me personally though since I'm not buying either in the forseeable future. (I still keep up on the news though.)

I'm only getting a 1/60 for him not a 1/48. Still enough to catch the bug. I started with a 1/60 Roy 1S after all. Before everyone got spoiled on the 1/48's we all thought the 1/60's kicked ass. Even now, they're still not bad. I still might get a Super O for myself eventually. After Christmas I'll see if the Bandai's interest him too and help him track one down if he wants one, or more Yammies.

Doesn't someone here actually have a Virtual Boy? Anyway, good article. Makes fun of the DS a little much though.
-
That might well be a possibility later on.
-
And that's my reasoning for considering giving him the 1J. A classic, a reissue of something he probably remembers from when he was younger. And I already have one on hand.
-
As long as he's spending his own money, right? He's on his own after this one though. I may act as a medium for ebay purposes though. He seems pretty decent with his money. He saves most of his money (for now) so he can pay school and he doesn't have much space anyway.

Actually my girlfriend stated that as a small worry about my getting him one, then he'll start buying stuff like I do. I'm thinking I'll spurge the little extra and go with the Yamato Roy 1S. It is christmas after all, and I'm thinking "Which would I rather get for a first valk" and come back with the one that's more visually impressive. Nostalgia was second compared to having an accuate sculpt. My girlfriend put it in an easier wording earlier: "Which would he be more excited about finding." Guess I better order a Yamato today so it'll arrive in time. I'm poor, so he's lucky he's getting a 1/60. I only have 2 1/48's.

And the problem reports start rolling in: from slashdot "Dead pixels, as many as 3 per screen with the problem." Remember their no return for X dead pixels business? Here you go. I think Nintendo just scored an Ace in the hole with their own worry free release compared to this.

Already posted (a couple threads down) actually. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...opic=12342&st=0

Already in the super science thread.

My girlfriend's brother (26) asked for a "Macross Figure" on his christmas list. He probably saw pics of my collection (I sent my gf a spread of shots of my house she could show some of her family) and he remembers and liked Macross. So I decided to give him the valk figure, which will be from me and my gf together. We don't ask specific which color sceme he would like because that would tip him off. She remembers he did say white at some point, so based off of tv means either a 1J or a 1S ruling out a CF. Now, the Xmas budget only allows for one of the 3 above. If money wasn't a problem I'd have bought a Strike VF-1S already. She asked about the really big one that I had, and I told her how much the 1/48 cost, and she said stick with the smaller one. I also showed her the Bandai reissue in case he was looking for the more nostalgic one. She's not sure either now after I explained the differences. I already have a MIB Bandai 1J I could give him in storage, but I could get either of the others easy. Since it's for christmas I should automatically give him an MIB. He has no Macross figures, no anime merchandise at all actually. I don't know how delicate he is with stuff either. What do you guys think would be better to give him?

The treaty was just thrown out the window the moment the EA launched a nuclear attack in the first sortie. It's safe to say all the mid series new suits will have nuclear power again. As for this "beam recharge" system, they haven't used it yet. They've made several references already to the Impulse and Zaku's running low on power, and needing to return. Probably one of the top secret features they haven't highlighted yet. Shinn has actually performed quite well in the impulse, I agree. He fought all 3 stolen Gundams off with the sword package, he did a decent job against Neo's funnels (Rey did better there since he's a newtype). Line him up with Athrun or Yzak and he still has a way to go by comparison to the vets, but he still does quite good given his level of experience. Shinn's a little too bitter right now, but it's still much better to see him filled with anger and bottled angst, than the alternative of seeing the main piot cry constantly. Kira filled the crying quota in the first series. After he and Kira beat the crap out of each other they'll probably make up and be friends. After ORB is attacked again, he'll probably be nicer to Cagalli as well, since she's the only one in ORB trying to keep them from making a big mistake. They'll proably sit down an talk and come to an understanding, kind of like when Athrun and Kira finally teamed up again, and talked in the Archangel's hangar in the first show. I must take screencaps later of a favorite part of ep. 9: Yzak's beam gatlings dicing up a Dagger. Beautiful. I should figuire out how to make an animated .gif of that.
