Official Gundam Plamodel Thread

I finally finished my Kampfer. I opted not to paint this one and just do some lines. Great kit. The Chain Mine is huge. The only thing I didn't like was the need to use white stickers for the antenna and shoulder. -
Any episode now after Shinn fights Freedom and is given the Destiny, Rey and Dullindal are sure to start recruiting Shinn for their real program. It'll be set up so that Rey and Shinn will make a nasty combat pair, wth Luna making it a trio in the Impulse (I expect her to be a casualty at some point). Dullindal maybe figures on Athrun joining with Kira again eventually, and thus his plan would involve Shinn and Rey to be paired up against those two. The whole point of the chairman inviting Athrun back into Zaft might have been to keep him and Kira separate for now. Just like Dullindal said it was fortunate that Kira and Lacus were separated, it could be the same idea for Athrun. He's keeping Athrun busy/distracted. The whole upcoming Logos announcement is the one thing that's wierd so far. He going to go out and reveal them, so what his real motivation is hard to see yet. They really do seem to be setting Shinn up to be the principal rival for Kira. In a way it might be like a new Char (the Anakin analogy also works). Shiin may think he's doing the right thing, but is really the bad guy. His little moment with Athrun amounted to Shinn basically telling Athrun he's outlived his usefulness. It's interesting having a title character that's not really stoic and kind of blurring the good/bad line with how he does things.

Can't wait to see that one. Shinn's expression when he told Athrun that "It looks like someone at headquarters understands me" was just...evil. His ego just went through the roof after escaping this incident unscathed. Dude is a walking dark side time bomb now. Who knows what might happen after battling Freedom.

Murrue's in for a surprise. If Neo's group suffers a large enough defeat, it gives him a nice window to be able to stay out of BC sight.

Haven't they been trying to do this since Val Kilmer was in college? Now they have a football field size building to work in, and have spent 5 BILLION dollars.

Scientists are now trying to develop a superlaser. Interesting timing now that our govt wants to open the space weapons field... The goat of the laser is to have a fusion ignition at the target (the same product as an H-bomb).

New Gundam FIX and ZEONOGRAPHY on the way...

Except I had no idea it had anything to do with Blue Destiny. The long alphabetical list is pretty cool. -
Rey's going to be a KILLA with that Gundam.

Owen was rather concerned about Luke running off with Obi-wan. Obi-wan also seemed to know about Owen's reluctance as well. It's possible. All this trying to find new meaning in the OT is pretty funny.

liar! http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/crossdimension/ms-08tx.htm So it was buried in the video game section then. I looked through 0079 and MSV but didn't have time to sift through everything else to find it. -

Any pics of the Efreet, I couldn't find it at Mahq. -
Rey gets Funnels AND Beam Shields!! Sweet. Can't wait to see that one. 2 "spikes" and 8 of the smaller ones. The BFG the freedom has is it's beam rifles, they're supposed to link up kind of like with the Buster Gundam. Hold on, where is this info on Gunota? I don't see it on the main page. Edit: Never mind, the page updated now. That was wierd.

That was great.

I agree totally that the first one should have started with teenage Anakin. I was talkign to my brother last night and somehow ended up descussing Qui-gon a little. Looking back, there was ONE useful thing about having the first one set in the time Anakin was still a kid: It allowed for an easier focus on Master Qui-gon with Apprentice Obi-Wan. It was his show for a while. All the main characters looked up to Qui-gon. Qui-gon was really more what the Jedi were supposed to be like. He actually was selfless, he didn't appear at all arrogant, and was probably more in-tune with the "living force" concept than anyone else. Even Yoda called Qui-gon "defiant" but Qui-gon was probably just outside of the mold the Jedi had become by that point, so they viewed that as troublemaking. Having Qui-gon gives you something to compare the other Jedi against, and it's easily apparrent that much of the others didn't have quite the same traits as Qui-gon. Compare him next to Windu for example and you can see which one fits the "proper" mold the Jedi were actually supposed to be. The majority of the Jedi had become overconfident, and arrogant. However, even starting with teenage Anakin they could have had Qui-gon alive and well and work with Obi-wan and Anakin as well, and still have the contrast between Qui-gon and the others apparrent. I still think ep. 1 was pretty dumb, but Qui-gon was cool. I would have liked to have seen the Qui-gon ghost in ep. 3, but at least Yoda explained enough I guess. "Teach you to commune with him I will." We then see the result of those communions in the OT.

Actually, that's not the balance. Balance isn't brought to the Force until Vader throws the Emperor down the shaft, and then dies. When this happens, there are no Sith left, and the old Jedi Order is no more. There is balance because both extremes have been wiped out. Luke is a new begining, but without the trappings of the past. In many ways, he is the heir to the teachings of Qui Gon, a disciple of the "living Force". Nice, I like that take on it. A clean slate to work with.

I walked away satisfied from that movie. I actually have no real complaints. There were a few things I would have liked to have seen/handled a little different, but overall it was very well done. Lucas actually did this one justice amazingly. I'll probably see it again later this weekend. Every duel was awesome. Greivous rocked. I like how clone wars explained the cough. The damage he suffered from Windu there probably slowed him down some in RotS, but even still that was a great fight too. He got a fair amount of screen time I guess. He did at least rotor the blades like in Clone Wars so I was happy there. I want to see the OT again now too. I think Lucas bridged it all pretty good. I guess we'll forever be limited to Crimson Empire to see what a Royal Guardsman can actually do though. Everybody laughted at that part where Yoda brushed them off. Damn good movie.

I still don't like the gold, or the chest cannon.

If Shinn wasn't an Ace, the Windams would have got him long ago. All mobile suits are wielding beam weaponry now, which PS armor is useless against. Shinn goes against 20:1 odds minumum on a regular basis, which does in fact make him an ace. He may not have done much against Freedom, but he did dodge Freedom's attack this last time around. Aside from Freedom he has fought evenly against the other Gundams so far. He also has Destiny's first V-fin kill so far, taking down the Abyss, and actually a 1/2 kill too for downing the Gaia intact (with Saviour assist). The last fleet engagement he wasn't just downing ships, but fighting Murasames on the decks at the same time while he was dissecting the ships. So far Shinn has justified his red uniform fine. All the red uniform pilots are aces. Luna and Rey haven't been slouches either, the Zakus are very capable too, but without flight capability they've been limited. Remember, the first batch of Gundams and mobile suits in this show are ALL on par with each other. The Zakus were demonstrated as capable as the Gundams in space and capable of fighting evenly with them, especially with pilots like Athrun or Yzak at the controls. The Gundams so far in this show have just been more specialized concept prototypes. transformable land, sea, and air models, and a modular component testbed in the form of the Impulse. They also got the Phase shift, which doesn't mean as much anymore against mobile suits, but very useful against Naval vessels still, and great against CIWS systems. The Freedom, and now the Destiny and whatever else comes will be the uber suits. Freedom is still a class above everything else so far. I think Shinn was right to tell Athrun to pick himself up. Even the crewchiefs were surprised to see the Saviour come back like that. Everyone expected Athrun to perform much better than he has. He's one of the big figures from the last war, so maybe the hero status just raised their expectations too high.

That was Talia in the shower.

Looked like the Alliance was supoosed to focus more on the large powerful second generation mobile armors. I would figure that later in the series mass produced 2nd gen mobile armors would be rolled out. The 2nd Destroy and it's partner might just be the spearheads to that. The EA brass so far seems to have a definate preference toward the big new mobile armors, otherwise they would have had more Gundams of their own. Even the Destroy, while technically a Gundam, is still more mobile armor than mobile suit. Nuclear powered mobile armors with Lohengrins are still a possibility. The Destiny looks like it was designed with that in mind, it looks more suited as a mobile armor destroyer than to fight other gundams. Beam shields, close and long range weaponry, and a really big anti-ship sword that would also apply to engaging mobile armors. Dullindal already has the specs for the Destroy, so he knows a glimpse of the armor that the alliance will be carrying around. Rey's Zaku should be operational soon too. They said it had "moderate" damage, so once they replace the arms it should be fine until Rey gets an upgrade. The Warrior and Saviour are the ones that got totalled.

Where's the option for thursday night? I'm going to the 8:15 show tomorrow, after work.

A Heavy-arms mod... That's gonna suffer some gashapon syndrome quick.

I forsee that hurting a lot after a while. The GBA SP already hurts my hands after a while. I've almost gone and bought the grips for it. I'm still happy with the GBA SP though. The screen is big and looks good, and the screen is nice and protected.
