Awesome looking.

Awesome detailing on those.

Shashdot linked an early Ep. 3 Synopsis yesterday, pieced together from confirmed stuff, slips of the toungue, and rumors backed by what's being used on the set. Interesting read. If it plays out anything like as it's written it looks like it may come out pretty sweet. One in there kinda caught my eye: possible Yoda/Palpatine. And more Samuel L. Jackson of course. Dooku looks to die pretty quick, too . Here's the Link

Yeah, tearing off the pages is not really something I want to do. I'll cut a few off eventually to save them though. Bear Clips? Is this what you're talking about? Thanks a lot for the info.

That's why I bought the calendar, too. For the images. A regular month display would be nice, but would only serve me to remind me what day of the week it is. That's it, and that's why it will most likely go up anyway. I know the cover and Christmas pic are both going to be framed eventually. Question though since this is the first kind of calendar like this that I have bought: Are you supposed to tear or cut the pages off each month or are you ideally supposed to flip through it every time you wanted to check the date? Also, I saw the nail hole on the back of the binding, am I supposed to put it on the nail as is, or try to bend that piece up straight and do it that way? Maybe a dumb question, but I want to make sure I don't mess up the calendar.

FLCL ran as long as it was meant to. They gave it just enough closure to give it a satisfying ending, and gave us one hell of a batch of 6 episodes. Gainax won't make any more FLCL. I love FLCL, but I think it would cheapen it if they make a sequel. At least the manga is out now. Two volumes. I need to go buy them myself soon.

I t would figure that the only calendar that caught my eye enough for me to buy it would be one of the only ones to use kanji instead of numbers. <_< Not my lucky week. Maybe I should get a Gundam or Masamune Shirow celendar. Don't really want to go the Dilbert route this year again. We'll see. I still kinda want to put this one on the wall.

Very nice, but not for 80 bucks at 1/55 scale.

Unfortunately I assumed the dates would use numbers, and not Kanji. I'll still put it up probably anyway, but I got a little burned on the actual month display. Are all Japanese import calendars like this? I could have sworn I've seen a lot with normal month displays. I guess I have to stick to domestic celendars next year. Probably should have researched that a little more.

Thanks, I've been trying to remember the name all day. Damn, they're more expensive than I thought. Maybe one day, for now I guess I'll settle for a wavemaster bag when I have the space. Or I'll just go attack a tree to practice like a friend of mine that took the class with me used to.

I like. I like it better than smokescreen actually.

I agree with pretty much most of what Hurin has been saying. If the VF-1 had been cooked up now, it would probably list all the stuff mentioned. -
I'm guessing it was staged... I kind of doubt otaku would throw big slumber parties, they most likely prefer private time with their pillows... You'd be surprised what people and especially otaku would do. I remember watching an MTV documentary on people with fetishes for big furry animal costumes. They called each other "furries" and it went as far as describing how "furries" have sex with each other. They would cut holes in the genital regions of their big furry goofy costumes and then do freaky crap with each other while in costume. Funny as hell watching Wally the Moose making it with Daffy Duck. The participants weren't always guy/girl either. Anyone else see this documentary? It was something like "True Life - Furries" or something like that. Anyways, this otaku slumber party seems tame in comparison. Don't believe me? Check this link out (don't worry, it's clean, just a transcript of the MTV doc): http://pressedfur.coolfreepages.com/press/sex2k/ They had an episode of CSI with those guys. Jacked up. The sabrina stuff was at least well done. Strange, but well done. Better than some cosplaying I've seen. They at least put some effort in there. Only question is: are those actually girls under there? Guys would add another notch to the WTF meter. Wouldn't surprize me either.

Which is your favorite Star Wars movie?

Empire Strikes Back. Would have been Return of the Jedi, but the Ewoks knocked it down a notch. The space battle and throne room stuff was sweet though. -
I remember before I found out about my current class checking out one of those Kim's places once, the guy was a salesman, complete with a presentation, and basically guaranteed my parents that I would get my black belt in 3 years. Then gave a free lesson which was ass backwards. Needless to say I did not go back. I had a friend that was on contract, early termination fee, and he had to pay 100+ for each test. Ridiculous. It's a shame that classes like mine are becoming rarer. I would like to try Kendo out. The initial cost doesn't scare me really since I know it's something I would like, but I don't know if I'll have time any time soon working full time and doing college night classes. Someday I will. One thing I do want to buy is one of those wood practice "dummies" to work with. I cannot remember the name (maybe someone can remind me), but its straight up, has a target on the top, and arm pegs scattered around to practice blocking on. Looks similar to a wierd coat rack. Expensive but pretty cool. My time in the Air Force weakend my shins from the lack of sparring and I want to toughen them back up and keep them that way. That's another thing about "americanized" commercial martial arts schools: Pads. They make you suit up with armor basically to spar, and no head attacks. WTF. One of the things we stressed was not to wear pads. It's a hinderance actually. You get used to blocking with gauntlets on in class, then get into a real fight, you block one technique and hurt your forearm or shins because you're not used to the contact. It's better to potentially bruise your shins a little in class because then will toughen, and you will learn how take it a little. Coddling students with GBP armor does them no good on the steeet. They key is to stress control over speed in the earlier belts, to get the mechanics and techniques down, and get used to stringing multiple moves together. then as you advance and get better, you get faster, and by the time you get up to higher browns or black, you can really go at it for a while. Starting with yellow belt you could go to the head. Blue you were allowed open hand blocking and techniques (we had some broken fingers before we implemented that rule). If anyone lives in the DC area (my zip code is 20886 in Montgomery County,MD) you're welcome to come try it out. We always welcome new students. Things have gone a little slower lately because we had a big influx of kids during the summer vs. the usual teens and adults, so we had to adjust our pacing for them, and devote more time to forms especially. PM me for info if interested. You won't be asked to chip for the room until the next quater after you start to give you time to see if you want to stay. We do our belts this way: White Yellow Green Blue 3 levels of Brown Black Expect to spend a long time in each, except maybe white, if you get it together right away, you may hit yellow in a few months. How do you guy's belt structures work?

My sensei does it the right way, too. No contracts or anything. We rent the gym of a local elementary school, and all chip in quarterly. That's it. If you don't want to, don't come. More time for those who do want to learn. And he doesn't test anyone until they show they are ready, no handouts, and the tests take several classes, and he works you. I remember for my Black test, it was an hour or two of straight sparring, a couple of classes worth of forms and technique, and for the finale he broke some boards on me and I had to break successive boards. 4 or 5 hour and a half classes. I think he expanded the tests some, even since then. With school I haven't been able to go to Tae Kwon Do this semester, and my brother just took 3 classes to finish his 3rd brown test. Good class. Took me 5 years to get my black, and my sensei makes sure everyone knows there is much more to go from there, that getting the black belt means you've got the basics down. I keep going to improve more. After all this time I still can barely lay a finger on the man. Good guy. Him and his wife have taught the class for years now. I started in 8th grade, so going on 11 years I guess since I started the class. Eventually I would like to try Kendo or Aikido out, I just don't want to be dragged into the contract crap. I agree it kind of cheapens it when it becomes franchised or commercialized, i.e. Kim's Karate or another of the chains. No offence if any of you have gone to one of those.

I wonder if Kawamori would update the Official VF-1 stats to reflect the extra stuff, if he includes the VF-1 in M0. Maybe listing chaff/flare dispensers and such wasn't something he focused on way back when. -
Anything's possible, but I doubt it. Graham

Any chance of seeing a Hikaru Strike 1/60?

In the intro they showed two updated Cylon Centurions. They kinda had a Terminatrix style gun/hand transformation, and looked pretty cool. Yeah, they had the red light eye still. The cylon fighters had the eye too.

Actually if you read HLJ's faq about part orders, they tell you up front they will charge the card on file when they locate the parts. It's one of the conditions on placing a parts order with them, that way they can get payment right away and process the parts order with the manufacturer while they can.
