awww, why the heck not? They got that Power Ranger thingy on tv forever now. Gotta have a balance. True, but they used americanized casts for those shows. They could try dubbing the japanese cast, but that may end up frightening.

This is why I compressed the VF-1's and VF-0's together in my old valk poll. Even with that, I still had no space for the SV-51 (should have put that instead of the VB-6), VF-3000, VA-3, and VF-2SS. Now I would have given the VF-0 it's own slot too. Of course doing that the VF-1 dominated everything, though the 19 and 21/22 came out strong. Only two people agreed with me on my 17 pick.

I doubt this would see a Region1 release.

Ironic in a sence, but not really surprising. I'm more surprised I haven't seen people with the same avatars yet by accident other than those wierd default smileys.

Colonel Sanders leads Robotech into 2004!
Anubis replied to ComicKaze's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It kind of looks like that, but in fighter you can see the head underneath just like a VF-1. Looking at the battloid mode, it looks like the center/front fuselage comes up and slides back over the rear top of the plane, and then front fuselage folds similar to a VF-11 after that (my guess as there's nowhere else for it to go), head orientating at the same time. The arms look kind of reversed from the VF-4, the front part of the top of the nacelle is the shoulder, and the real half of the top is the rest of the arm. The wings look like they stay with the arm similar looking to how the YF-21's tailfins stay with the arm. They're using the Alpha's trick of not having much wing surface area. -
You would have to really make it worth their while to do so. Even tooling a custom paint job is still a lot of work and money.

The navy uses VF-### to designate fighter squadrons, along with other abbreviations, of which a navy head has to tell you those. Just like the AF uses ###-FS or ###-TFS to designate theirs.

Also from the 1/48 Max and Millia thread.

Positively...awesome. Yeah, Fast Packed Fighter mode would be the best display piece. Superb job on that custom, and at 1/60!

Colonel Sanders leads Robotech into 2004!
Anubis replied to ComicKaze's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Even modified, it still looks like the VF-X-4, which was already fair game for them to use (and already used in the new comic), as long as they didn't copy the actual VF-4 transformation. This is probably what the "battloid" mode in the new HG comic will look as soon as they fix the "transformation malfunction". The nacelles on the vf-14 were much longer, looking more like the ones on the SR-71, and the VF-14 had the triangular nose section, not a streamlined one. -

Well look what we have here...... They tweaked the VF-X-4 and gave it a new transformation after all. VF-4's (or whatever they call it) and Alphas in the same show, huh. © 2001? -

That;s a fugly looking alpha. -
I know that. I'm just saying that if they do that right from the beginning, it'll give away the secrets of the Evas too early in the movie. That was one thing I liked about the show, the question about what they were using to save their lives. I hope that's one secret that is saved in the movie. Very good point as well. They are supposed to look like mecha at first glance. It's not until they start to bleed and/or go berserk that you learn how much more than that they are. In a sense the Eva's themselves are also the enemy. For sake of movie purposes they may explain more explicitly that they are direct copies of what they are fighting right away. I think the two guys said in the interview they wanted to use the monsters masquerading as giant robots aspect. How that will take shape remains to be seen. In the show everyone still knew the Eva's were copies of Adam to begin with, but knew nothing about the armor doubling as restraints until Unit 1 ate Zereul's S2 organ. The movie designs do give more of that away, but I still think the designer's heart is in the right place there at least. One thing I though was wierd: the two guys in the interview were also talking about the casings from the pellet guns and such, and talking about a rain of giant shells crushing cars and stuff. I may be nuts, but I don't remember seeing shell casing from the Eva's guns. May depend on the type of gun, but I would have thought there were caseless rounds in the regular pellet gun. I don't remember seeing shells popping out the sides off hand. A rain of giant ammo shells would be kind of cool to see, though how necessary I don't know.

Finally! Given that Gundamofficial has now updated with a ton of Zeta Gundam stuff, it's certain that Zeta will see the first release in some form or another. Wether it's just the DVD box or box set + broadcast remains to be seen. But it still looks like Zeta is on deck. Those toy sites get info on toy releases, there have been errors in show release info before from those guys before, so I'm still hesitant to believe Bandai bumped Zeta yet in favor of Seed. Official Zeta press releases should not be too far off now either way. That and the news portion on Zeta Gundam's section says this: Zeta still looks to be quite in.

I kind of like the designs so far. It's what the evas are, they're not really mecha in the normal sense, but monsters/angel copies masquerading as mecha. They were not supposed to look friendly either.

Within each squadron, it's possible there are numbers reserved for the J's. Since there were not that many of those they could have went with 101, 202, 303, 404, etc for the J's to make them stand out. Since there would only be one S, each squadron would have a 001 (Red Rose 001, Black Knight 001, Skull 001, Black Widow 001, etc.) The A's would just go staight down the line, probably starting with 002. The TV numbers were never really specified very much, and probably not given that much thought too. Animation budget wouldn't have allowed for numbers on everything. Even M7 has no numbers on anything. Not surprising since they always used stock footage for the VF-11's. DYRL on the other hand went straight down the line in numbering for the A models. The callsigns even matched the numbers on the plane. The lone J that was shown was probably 101, but we'll never know with it's one second of screen time. I doubt they would use aircraft production numbers like we do, as with so many valks being destroyed each sortie, it would be much easier to just cycle a new jet into the Skull 017 slot each time. -
I not sure. The YF-23 was a big plane though.

How hard is it to save the avatar you want to use to your PC, and then upload it directly to the board? If you figure out which one it is, someone should shoot him a PM and remind him.
-
Yes, only minus the Fast Pack armor. Would be nice, but Max's 1S didn't have it anyway, and the 1/60 will be a little more posable without it, so I'm not too worried about it.

This could be more of a debate topic. If they go past 999 they could always jump to 4 digits after that, if that was how they organized it. At Hill AFB we had 76 F-16's ranging from #357 up through 2174, divied up into 3 squadrons. There were batches that were sequential among the 76. But then again, in DYRL, they kind of show that the tail numbers were squadron specific, as they did cycle through 3 different Skull 001's, Roy's, then Max's, then finally Hikaru's 1S's after he became Skull leader. Hikaru also had 2 1A's both 011. It would make it a little easier given the turn-around time of new valks replacing destroyed ones constantly. -

The hory froating head really would go over there and smite them. -
I may be a minority on this, but I like my 1/48 fighter mode best with no armor. Fast Packs for battroid, I like how they look with the FP armor in that mode the best. GBP I only really want on the 1/60 Hikaru 1J. I always preferred Fast Packs over GBP, but I definately want one set at least.

I have a feeling part of that may be answered soon. I would love a Strike Hikaru VF-1S in 1/60. I have wanted that one for a long time. I unfortunately can't bring myself to justifying the cost of buying a Hikaru 1S + another set of Fast Packs in 1/48 when I already have a 1A Hikaru and Strike Roy. A 1/60 Hikaru 1S I wouldn't hesitate on. If only I was a richer man. I certainly hope if there is to be a final 1/60 VF-1, it would be that for the anniversary. As for a Max 1S, I just bought a 1/60 Max 1A from Kevin, and I am doing the usual trick of taking the right wing and head off my old 1/60 non-FP Roy and making my Max 1S. What's left will become a Kakizaki. Then I'll see what I can come up with for them and Millia's Q-rau.
