Mangle completely bent us over on the Macross Plus movie edition. Not only was it a VHS dump, with NO remastering whatsoever, but also with the VHS's hard subtitles still etched in. A complete lack of effort on Mangle's part. I would be very wary of Mangle is handling the actual production of SAC. I normally don't advocate this but may want to hold onto the fansubs this time just in case. I olny have through ep 3 so I'm SOL at the moment. Hopefully Bandai makes sure it's done right.

You thought of it while I was typing about a test shot. Yeah, 1 looks a lot better. Side note, would 3 work as a top image? It's dimensions look about right. What do you guys think? Hasegawa Valk or image 3 possibly? Is there a scan even available to use with that either?

I'm still going with choice 1. We already have little valks on one of the sides, and that image goes with better with the sides IMO. As said before, it is also very easy to extend the space background to fit the dimensions of the box. Much more difficult to do with the take off shot, although it is a nice image. I wouldn't mind seeing a test workup though for comparison purposes. I would still like to see -1S on the top of the box though. If not then I can deal with the -1A or -1J. I do kind of agree with the argument against using the DYRL -1A for the top though. The two DYRL images from the sides are enough for that, leaving the back and top for Macross TV.

Surprisingly, he doesn't. I forgot to mention that the OAV has so many plot loopholes, it's ridiculous. SPOILER ALERT! Ah, screw it! No one's gonna watch this, anyway. During the final battle between Shishimaru and Ginnai, Shishimaru has his right forearm chopped off. He then slices Ginnai in half, rupturing his hydrogen fuel cell and setting off an explosion that decimates at least 30 city blocks. The next scene has Shishimaru, Momoji and Hayabusa lying on the ground. Shishimaru wakes up and sees faint, ghost-like images. The images tell him they saved him and his comrades from the explosion, and that there are more battles to come. The larger apparition mentions his name as "Black Lion" before disappearing. Shishimaru then sees a giant spaceship hovering over the sky. He then tries to reach out for it with his right hand. That's when the narrator says, "At this point, Shishimaru did not notice that his right arm, which was severed by Ginnai in the battle, was reattached." Sequel!!
