So we know who will get the Akatsuki if that happens. Poor Meer.

I have not been a big fan at all of the AA in this series primarily during the earlier Orb arc mess. IMO they have made several thing way more chaotic or dragged out than it needed to be. When Cagalli took over again she could have broadcasted to Zaft "Hey I'm back in charge, I arrested Yuna, I want Djibril out of my country too. We will track him down, you guys can watch for escape craft." Even if it didn't work, at least she would have tried. Instead they focused on fighting Zaft back and didn't even try to coordinate Djibril's capture properly. Not that many resources were used to actually find him. Every one of those Orb officers that helped Djibril are complicit and probably BC too. That aside, things as they are, Dullindal still obviously knew about the Requiem and let it fire. Now he has an excuse to crush the entire moon base into nothing. They could completly wipe the base out and it won't cover a fraction of Plant's casualties. How else could those relay points all be set up with no one noticing? Because Dullindal and those in his group are complicit. Rey as well. Dullindal's looking at the officer to his right and then forcing out the "What just happened" is the clearest sign yet. Then look at how content he is in his Palpatine chair. All is as he has forseen. After he crushes the moon base next episode the EA all the real meaningful resistance will be toast, and Dullindal can begin to assert his rule. So look for Zaft to splinter with groups joining the AA once Dullindal gets started. He slipped regarding Lacus, but for now it's still under question which Lacus is real as far as the people are concerned. Orb is still EA, and just finished harboring Djibril, so having another Lacus pop up and say she's the real one will be met with question even if she is the real one. The people already accept Meer as the real one, so the real Lacus still has more to do outside of one speech. Meer has been in constant public eye. The real Lacus hasn't show her face to her own people in 2 years, so she shouldn't be surprized either.

Nice to see the HCM pro line going strong. They really have a great series going there. Hope Legend and I-Justice get HCM Pros too. -
The OTAKON Post-Convention Thread
Anubis replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Otakon's over. It was last Friday-Sunday at the Baltimore Convention Center. The scariest costume I saw was a guy dessed as Cammy complete with fake boobs. I did see a really good Tenjou Tenge group. They were sitting making a puzzle so I didn't bug them. Several Inu Yasha groups. There were a lot of Gothic Lolita girls and Chi cosplayers. Scores of Full Metal Alchemist people. A few of good Winry's too. There some Gundam Seed people scattered around. Saw them from the escalator taking a goup picture but they dispersed before I could get a shot. Few Zaft uniforms, couple Kira and Lacuses. Only saw one Zeon guy. This one girl had a funny mushroom costume. One person had their kid dressed up as the kid from Paranoia Agent, complete with bent bat. I saw a copy of the Miyatake Design Works in one booth. I did not see a single 1/48 valk in there. Saw a couple of 1st version VF-11's. There did seem to be an awful lot of weapon and airsoft dealers. Some of the sword qualities were spotty. -
I just skimmed the episode again, and right before the beam fires they do show the relay shift a little from Yzak group's garrage. They sure expanded on that beam bending tech they introduced with the Forbidden Gundam.

That's true, he even had a nice diagram to show Shinn and Luna. He knew exactly how the damn thing worked, while everyone else was still reeling from the attack. He even showed where all the relays were! He knows way too much on that one. No way he got an intel report that fast either. Heck, Dullindal was still waiting for HIS report. Also note how quickly he tied Djibril's escape to the Archangel. Rey essentially told Shinn and Luna that they failed to capture Djibril because of the AA's intervention, now look what happened. Keep them nice and angry at the AA. That weapon is crazy. It can hit anything. That's also right about the trig, especially with something of that scale. Destroying the one relay point won't solve anything realy, since they'll use the other points.

The OTAKON Post-Convention Thread

The dealer room was kind of disappointing. Only got to get one HCM Pro, the Nemo. HLJ only had a couple types, and no one else had ANY from what I saw, except one small table that had the same one HLJ had. Some of the staff manaing the line to get in there were kind of jerks too. One plus was HLJ had the Bubblegum Crisis figures for $40. Not bad at all. Got a Priss. Probably should have got Linna at that price too, but oh well. The overall selection of stuff at the dealer room was pretty much standard stuff. I got lucky with Priss too because the HLJ people said they didn't have anymore BGC figures, yet I stopped in there again later on and they had two of each. 40 was a good deal though. Got some nice cosplay pics. I'll put them in the mega cosplay thread at AP later on. I forgot my camera on saturday so I missed out on some pics then, but did ok. The only panels I went to were the Macross panel and the "I can't believe..." obscure anime panel on sunday. Other than that I spent my time in the 35mm room fri-sat and saw f91 and otaku no video on sunday. The 35mm room was cool. I didn't know they were giving Howl's Moving Castle on sunday though until it was an hour into it so I missed out. Not a bad experience (first con), if I go next year it depends on what's playing. -
Dullindal's new chair screams Emperor, just in white. Very cool. That fortress sure looks like it has a BFG on it. Anyone else think that missing Aprilius was deliberate? I hesitate to think it missed Aprilius that bad, yet hit Januarius 1-4 so perfectly. Either that or Yzak and co. did a good job knocking that relay off track. Loved Yzak and Dearka's new customs. Next episode looks like it'll be nuts. EA throws the kitchen sink at Zaft to defend the moon base. We get blast impulse again too. Rey get to use his Dragoons finally. Gundamofficial says the PLANT's are all at Lagrange point 5, and there are apporximately 120 of them, split up between the 12 "cities" named after the calendar months. Januarius's specialty is Basic and applied microengineering. December's specialty is Elementary Education.

I'll be getting the HCm Pro Acguy. I wasn't going too, but it's so cute in the meditation position. I'll look for HCM Pros in the Dealer room at Otakon along with some other stuff probably, but no Master Grades. I can't fit anymore Master Grades in my cabinets. To fit the PG Zaku in I'll have to put my 1/48 Hikaru -1A in battroid and move Roy to the same shelf. -

The detail on the Acguy is insane. Even has Water stream parts for the display stand, and the 3 kids to put on top of it's head from when they walked on it by accident. Lots of internal detail as well. Nice. -
1) YF-19/VF-19A (didn't like the shortened wings on the F/S as much as the original wings) 2)VF-1S 3)VF-17 (almost a tie with #2) 4)SV-51

The quick bath scene was VERY appreciated. While the uniforms don't actually reveal much they are very nicely form-fitting and work well. Some of my favoite uniform designs in fact. Anyway, yeah, the different spellings were real hard to pronounce. Much different than the Bandai subs. No Spoor in this one for the Spoor lovers out there, but most of the crew was there in different roles. Nice to see where the others ended up too. The series was always highly character driven, so seeing more of them too was nice. I like how Jinto gave Samson a job. Thankfully they showed some more progression in Lafiel and Jinto's relationship too. They're more relaxed with each other and even shared a hug. Not bad for a 2-parter. As always I'd like to see more from this series, but they ended things satisfactorily enough.

The ANBU version is out! 97% completed. Good seeds. I'll watch it tonight.
-
More Lafiel can only be a good thing.

I loved how all the rich and pampered people were totally unequipped to defend themselves. Definately preserved the feel of the other Romero zombie movies.

That is quite true actually. When did the show derail: When they brought Kira and the AA back in, and instantly thrust them into being main characters again as well. When it was just Cagalli and Athrun it was fine, in fact it rocked. Cameo appearances from the GS cast would have been preferred, and let the show stay with the Minerva. Having to share the spotlight with the AA took a lot out of the show, and mandated dragging the Orb arcs too far, where there was potential to do much more. If they had left Freedom destroyed and gave Kira a lesser role other things could have fleshed out better. Athrun as the recurring main character of this show was all it needed. But oh well, it's still a good show. Could have been better, but the same could be said for the first show. This show at least has gotten more done in it's timespan than GS did. I just hope they tie up enough loose ends this time before it finishes, which I'm afraid might not happen again given the current pattern and how much has to be done still.

My thing for the last episode is Zaft had to have known that there was a chance Djibril would hav escaped Orb during the attack, so why wasn't anything in orbit waiting just in case. They could have intercepted the shuttle easily. That was kind of boneheaded. Also, the Chairman could go on TV and still explain Meer. It's easy, he could use the same excuse he gave Athrun. It would still be a PR mess, but a recoverable one. Lacus has a very wide appeal to the people. He needed Lacus's voice to help calm the people after the nuclear assault on Plant, and since she was nowhere to be seen, and no way to reach her, he called on Meer to lend support. He could apologize for the deception, and note the good that she did for general morale. He could also again point out the the REAL Lacus was NOWHERE to be seen as if abandoning them. That could also send a ripple through Plant if in the wake of that crisis their beloved Lacus abandoned them. Which she in fact did. Going to Plant to help did not even register as an idea. It won't happen, but it would be an interesting twist would be to have the colony drop staged by her to begin with, and now she's in a position to snatch up what Dullindal is taking through his own game. No one said yet for sure that Dullindal did it, but the assumption is there since Dullindal is pulling a Palpatine. It would be interesting, but she's the primary heroine of the show, so no. I am a bit peeved at how Mwu will simply be forgiven. He may have some moral regrets about some of the stuff he did but he'll settle right into his new good guy role with no repurcussions it seems. There's no time to go through a big moral dilemma though anyway I guess. I do like how he reached out to the Murrue though. Some support and a couple sorties might get him back fully. I don't think Cagalli should go into space this time. She shouldn't since she just resolidified her power and has to work at Orb to get everything back to where it should be. It would suck for Mwu not to get Dragoons again, but if he takes the Akatsuki he could at least put it to far better use than Cagalli was able to. He could even use the same from when he told her he was going to pilot the Strike. The Akatsuki should have very nice defense against Dragoons as well so he could help fight Rey effectively.

I was going to try to paint some of the runners today, ut it was way too hot in the garage to mess with it. So in two weeks I'll try again (going to Otakon this weekend) I'm going to go with the Char scheme. I picked up my paint cans on Saturday. I picked up Metallic Black x 3, Metallic Red x 2, Maroon x 1 (they didn't have Burgundy, but this should work good as well), and Gloss aluminum for the engine parts. -

At least dry transfers would be nice.
