So, rambling thoughts after my initial viewing of episode 1: Style. There are no bright colours in this universe, it's all dark and gloomy and lots of rain. Appropriate for the style of show they seem to be aiming for. Too much shaky-cam. Seriously, stop hiring drunk and/or stoned camera operators. Please, for the love of whatever is holy, just stop. I have no idea whom these actors are, but they're pretty good. I'm willing to give it more viewings, but I thought Affleck's performance was pretty decent and that's my benchmark. Foggy just can't hold a candle to Jon Faverau's version. The fight choreography looked neat, but was difficult to follow at times. Not much different from a Michael Bay film, with whipping cameras and quick cuts to add tension. The impacts seemed pretty brutal, and the rain fight in the first episode was nice. It was nice seeing a hero as tired and winded during the fight, and not some invicible rock of muscle with a health bar slowly dropping. The one thing I'd like to see more of is consequences to said fights. Matt woke up with a bruise along his chest and so far that's it. 2003's Daredevil had massive scars along his back, he lost a tooth after a fight, big cuts and pretty brutal injuries. The shower scene in '03 just drove home how much it must *suck* to be a vigilante hero without any sort of healing factor or plot armour to heal all wounds by the next scene. As a fan of the '03 film (you may tar and feather at your leisure ) this one has some pretty big glasses to fill. I love the style and dripping atmosphere, but so far I'm not ready to hoist this version as the better one. But there's still 12 hours of film to go, so I'm off to episode 2 (Attack of the Clones? Wrong franchise???)

This is great news! I love Tron Legacy more every time I watch it, so I think I'll love this one, too. But I agree: more Tron, more Daft Punk, more Olivia Wilde

Me, too I'm just glad my mom was around to receive the package, otherwise it'd be headed back to Michigan as we speak... Hoo boy, do I ever have a lot of snipping, gluing, sanding, painting in my future

And yet, I can't help but feel that if PB/ND went with fewer parts count and fewer details, people would be skewering them for not going far enough, not caring enough, etc etc etc.

All Things Videogame Related: EXTREME VS!!

So it goes like this: 1) I'm not gonna buy DAI. Love the other games (yes, even DAII. Suck it, haters!), but my pc can't run it. 2) a)Keep on top of developments. b)Troll TV Tropes for updates after release. c)Quit after reading spoilers. 3) Watch post-release videos of game on YouTube. Consider how cool the game looks. 4) Decide there's juuuuust enough time to go to the store and buy it. Have to check two stores, since first Best Buy is all sold out of PS3 copies. 5) Get home and install onto PS3 gleefully (stopping for some mini-doughnuts on the way home. I'm only human, people...) 6) Twiddle thumbs as install. Install. Instal- oh, hey. There's that Keep thingy. Guess that could pass the time. 7) Three hours after beginning install, still mucking around with the Keep and agonizing over the decisions to import into the game. Don't want to be too cruel, but can't be all goody-goody; this is Thedas after all! Seriously, people. As much as Mass Effect was a save-importer's dream, I'm loving his Keep system. It's just that damned great ... oh, yeah. Play game all night long!- 6831 replies

Looking at that smexy beast of a craft reminds me why I spent some very long night shifts dreaming up a Robotech / Firefly fusion, where the mecha-driving anti heroes flew around in beaten up Horizont... *happy sigh*.- 419 replies

Why do all these VR videos have a split-screen or window showing us the players face? Ugh, I want to see the GAME, not your mug. It's annoying enough to listen to their commentary at times.- 216 replies

Marie is awesome because she and Dana duke it out like one of the boys. No real high school drama club, they take their men and get them into a ruckus of a bar brawl And then they get in their mecha and blow the crap out of the bad guys. Their rivalry really did make for a neat side story in Robotech.

Bah! Colour me surprised that we'll have duelling Abominus' now... On the plus side, it looks like UT Abominus has better elbow joints than just the limb robots' legs pegged together.- 9240 replies

And I think that's a big problem. The most appealing part of 3P toys was they were focusing on obscure characters that just wouldn't otherwise get the love from HasTak. Now, they've all developed a case of follow the leader and only working on the most popular figures, while swiping the designs of other companies.- 9240 replies

Welcome to the joys of international business. Situations like that are why my factory can survive on this side of the world; when our customers need their product NOW and not in three weeks. As for the Gen Con crap, I couldn't care less. Just send me my damn minis when you get them. I've waiting this long, another few weeks isn't going to kill me.

I think the most disappointing thing about Warbatron is that even at this larger scale they haven't found a way to get a viable Bruticus elbow joint that isn't the arm-robot pulled open at the waist and legs pegged together.- 9240 replies
