Just wait until any Southern Cross mecha get produced. At that scale, the Hovertank would max out at roughly 110mm or so One of the things I like about Robotech as a whole is the difference in mecha sizes makes it easier to headcanon reasons why they exist (beyond the Rule of Cool).

It tried to copy the feel and character aesthetic of EVA, and it had some genuinely good ideas. But, like EVA before it, the good ideas got swallowed under a mess of attempted introspection and too much complication. The mecha designs remain some of my favourite, though. I love how having an onboard AI to handle most of the movement, and the pilot really only picks a route from the options the computer gives, is an actual plot point instead of just being glossed over.

I'm a passionate hater of needlessly sexualized female characters in my media. I like my tough-as-nails Ashley in ME1 compared to the bimbo we got in ME3. I prefer my leader Leia from ESB to the gold bikini from ROTJ. I haven't played Overwatch, but I hate the design and marketing of their female characters. And yet this Nicee toy looks absolutely fantastic! I love the design, and I love how it crosses my personal line once and then crosses it several more times The colours, what I've seen of the transformation... everything has my interest.- 9240 replies

On this, we agree. Duel of the Fates struck the right cord, and everything else has been trying to copy and improve on it but failing at it.

I hope it gets a serious upgrade. Yes, the version presented is a "more realistic" duel, where it's more posturing than showy... But that ain't Star Wars duels. There needs to be a certain amount of twirls, flares, dramatic pauses to glare at each other, etc. to be a Star Wars duel.

What would be examples of really great engineering choices in 3P figures? I finally got a Smart Robin from FansProject and the way the wings become the legs and the chest compression is sublime. I adore Peru-Kill for having such a drastically sleek robot mode without a chunk of car on his back. What other figures out there have amazing design choices like those?- 9240 replies

So what's the Star Wars Story film coming out next year? I haven't heard of anything.

An idiot? Naw, you're not an idiot. Questionable taste in films and media, perhaps, but not an idiot. But then again, I like Robotech so who am I to judge things like that? I think deep down, my attitude towards the sequels is one of extreme disappointment. They could have been so good, with a new slate of characters and new settings and new ideas... and what I saw was one piece of horrible fanfic after another. I'm exactly the same way! I think that's part of the reason I like Robotech so much, is that my brother and our friends spent so many weekends playing the RPG and making up our own plots. The cartoon itself is best left in memory

So I have to be positive, eh? Well the best thing I have to say about Rise of Skywalker, and the sequels in general, is that it really makes me appreciate what Lucas did with the prequels all the more. While the finished product wasn't very polished, at least the prequels had a solid story arc, original ideas, and the benefits of a strong vision coming from one person. The sequels are just a jumbled mess of conflicting ideas and tastes.

I gotta admit it, but I like this trailer. It looks absurdly cute, especially with Bumblebee cringing in the corner.

The first teaser made me hopeful. This trailer... doesn't. It looks bad.

Bah to all the naysayers about this. It looks fun, and that's enough for me. -
That's not a big endorsement since she obviously already said "yes" to you at one point in her life, so she's already predisposed to do it again

So I picked up the Gipsy Avenger HG kit from Bandai. The last model kit I built was an Eva kit, also from Bandai (about 18 years ago ). I'm really blown away by the skill and engineering that went into this kit. The parts are teeny, tiny, and the tolerances are just so amazing. Most of the parts pop off the sprue with little or no clean-up required. Everything is snapping together tightly, and it just looks neat. I'll probably finish it up tomorrow and have Obsidian Fury on deck for after

After the steaming pile of turd that was The Last Jedi, I'd sworn off of film Star Wars for good. I'll not see Episode IX, and I said I wasn't doing to see Solo. This trailer reversed that last one for me. It looks really, really good. Fun, in-jokes, and a great background story. I'm sold, and I'll try to get an opening night ticket. -

I like the fact that Jaeger tech didn't just disappear, or get shoved into a box somewhere. There are consequences to these robots, in that everyone keeps trying to make them. They're like the new nukes, and once that genie was out of the bottle there is no putting it back. I also liked how the tech kept advancing, and that the new ones are far more capable than the ones from PR1 were.
