In MGS1, Big Boss' clones were used to create Solid Snake and Liquid Snake. But according to Liquid, all of the perfect genes were given to Solid Snake, while he was given the leftovers. SPOILER ALERT! Don't really know why I put that in there, but I guess it could be needed. At the end of MGS1, Ocelot is talking with Solidus and it's discussed that Liquid and Solid were perfect clones of each other, no difference at all between them. All of that garbage about how Solid was getting the dominant genes was just lies told to Liquid, probably to make him hate more.

If they're going to do anything with Venom, it should start off with him as the bad guy. That was the whole thrust of Venom's character: Finding Spider-man and eating his brains from his still-warm skull If they're going to do anything with his character, they need to start with that. That way it'll make any potential alliance (to deal with Carnage, supoose) that much more different. -

And just where are you going to get a better Alpha fighter toy for less? I see no other options for a toy that's readily available. -

Hey, The Ring was cool. -
Dead To Rights was pretty cool. I loved their minigames and the dog. Gotta love that dog

Nor do airplanes that become giant robots, giant humans that don't crush themselves under their own weight, artificial gravity on a spaceship...

I can handle Natale Portman as Asuka. That's one good photochop of her in that pic

The difference is that before Macross 7 was ever thought up, before Zero ever reinforced those issues, waaaaaaay back when SDF was first released, there as no mention of anima spirita at all. Without that idea or concept, it's easy for me to see how Exodol's reaction is mere shock and non-comprehension about the images that he's seeing. Simple cultural shock and nothing more. However, you bring up an excellent point in that with the plots of Mac7 and Zero, that has changed from culture shock to "magic" and "spirita", and again, that's a change I don't like. I preferred it just as it was, thanks. Because it's much easier to swallow if it were Spirita as opposed to some NEW form of ESP/magic powers. And I don't really see how the flowers or stones on the island could be a part of the protoculture ship. The ship being beneath the island, yes, I can see that. But not the crust on top.

this coming from a guy who has a sig saying that there is nothing wrong with robotech. Protoculture anybody? The difference being that all of the psychic phenomena in Robotech were in the show right from the start. Robotech and the powers/effects of Protoculture in that show were a big thing since day one. Same thing with Evangelion, Angel Cop, and a whole host of other shows that I enjoy, because the non-technological bits were planned right from the start and not introduced until several sequels later on, and then we're told "Okay, this is how it's always been and now everything is like this." Unlike in Macross where there's NO mention of "magic" or "anima spirita" until Macross 7, and now it's being further reinforced by Zero. Thank you very much, but I prefer the tone and style Macross Plus (and to a lesser extent) SDF had for the universe. Macross' pure tech story is one of the few things that really attracted me to it, and now that it's being changed I don't like it very much.

I find that Macross Zero is simply plodding along at a snail's pace, the action scenes are too short and far, far too jittery to be properly enjoyed. The camera work alone makes it rather difficult to follow what's going on. Compare that with Plus, where the camera was held in place and everything was clearly visable. The action scenes in Plus simply blow this (and most other shows) out of the water. The lack of character development is also a nasty problem that I find Zero has. The characters are flat, uninteresting, and thus far haven't shown any hints at depth or change. The mecha are sweet and cool... but much too modern in design when compared with the mecha that are supposed to come after them. This is a rather endemic problem with prequels, especially when they're produced many years after the original. The sole exception I find to that is the SV-51 which has the gritty industrial chic look going for it. The SV-51 looks like it was cobbled together with technology that barely fits the function and that makes it perfect for a prequel. The VF-0 is just too reminiscent of Kawamori's later designs to believeably fit into the 2008 timeframe for me. Another point that doesn't really turn my crank is the addition of magic and anima spirta. I dislike both of those in the Macross universe greatly, even though the latter IS a big thing in Mac7 (yet one more reason why I don't like that show much). I dislike how Sara is able to cause flowers to bloom or make stones levitate just by her singing. Nuh-uh, not for me. Unlike Mac+, which had me at the opening combat sequence of the OVAs, I'm going to have to wait to see the last two episodes before I can reccomend Zero to others.

I rank this film up there with Max Payne: Hero and SW: Duality as one of the best fanfilms I've ever seen. You're right in that the fight is too short and too contained in that one set, but considering who and how it's being made, it is nothing short of fantastic. I strongly reccomend everyone to at least take a look at this one.

I love this show. It pokes fun at the glut of english-dubbed Japanese shows in so many ways that it almost rivals old-school Simpsons in terms of sheer comedic nastyness "So what does 'f'n eh' mean, anyway?" "That's New Jersian for 'indeed'." -

I bought #2 of that set and didn't notice any fantastic colour or picture changes, and am horribly upset at the changes they made to the sounds. However, I'm interested to see if they keep those changes consistant from the First Generation to the Second and Third. Any new news about the MPC release dates? Anything confirmed yet? -

Transfans tend to be a neurotic bunch. Have anyone told you about the "Nightbird is/isn't sentient" debate? Pfft. That's nothing compared to the debates we Macross/Robotech fans can get ourselves wrapped up in -
Curses! Now I want to see all the ladies posing next to mecha! Bad Terpfen! No cookie! (at least, not until we start getting those pictures...)
-
While I'm not a big fan of the mecha, you're colouring looks like it's going to be nothing short of fantastic. Hurry up and finish it!

Sweet models, guys! They're all much better than I could ever come up with, though I must admit I really like Brian's -1J head and the Doktor's body. And chance we can get some other mode shots?

And you're proud of this... because? I'm with 1BRD: Time for these petty fanboyisms to end, on both sides. I happen to enjoy both shows and hate it when one is slagged by the other. -
Destroids were phased out because they didn't transform, and every mecha in the Macross universe must transform, regardless of whether it fits the universe or even makes sense. It was probably a producer's decision not to include many Destroids because they were relativly unmarketable as toys and models, lacking the cool factor of a transforming plane. As for in-story reasons, it could be that they were deemed to be too slow to be of much use on the combat field, especially as most of the combat moved towards massive space battles.

Actually, I rather like these. Understated, subtle, and not too busy on the covers and a clear reflection of the original movie posters from '77.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest George Sohn's crotch for not having the goddamned decency to at least TRY and produce a Super Poseable Hovertank or Ajax. Amen to that. I've recently taken a shine to Southern Cross again, and I'd LOVE some VHTs and Ajax toys in Superposable form. Same with the Bioroids. But what'd I really love to see are the various armours for all the 15 armies of the Southern Cross. In super-posable scale, those would rock. Since they have faceplates, there's no need for "lifelike" faces on them, which would make construction and painting easier. -
