MASTER REPLICAS - ALIENS MOTION TRACKER
dr_vandermeer replied to dr_vandermeer's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
There is a reason why the Icons only goes for a few hundred dollars. Well-made fan made pulse rifles that are mostly metal or a blend of plastic and metal can cost any where between $1000 to $2500. At a Bay Area prop party in October 2003, I handled a full metal pulse rifle that essentially had working parts like a real rifle. such as a working digital display, one could load a fake grenade (and it would eject when cocked), cock the SPAS 12 cage and extend the stock. A prop builder who basically built his own pulse rifle Images of an Icons pulse rifle Images of a supposedly screen used pulse rifle SD Studios Pulse Rifle Replica eBay auction Icons Aliens Pulse Rifle Just as people on this board can distinguish between the quality of various Valkyrie makers, the same applies with pulse rifle makers. The only thing that I can speak on would the Star Wars props from MR. A lot of the people that I know who are prop collectors proved very pessemestic at first. While MR has had their mistakes, they feel they have delivered solid products. Also one has to remember that all these movie MR items fall under licensing issues under their respective studios. Wow. Thanks for the heads-up Chuey! That one eBay link says that the original SD's went for $4000!!! I also didn't know that SD became Master Replicas. Now I have no doubt that a pulse rifle is coming! The good thing is that it means that the one they make will be pretty damn accurate, based on that SD prop info, and probably with all the same stuff you mentioned in that other prop you handled (working countdown display, removable clip, grenade action, extended stock.) And judging by a lot of MR's other licensed props, my guess is that they'll even add the distinctive firing sound effects from the movie, something that no other previous replica had! Oh yeah, baby! GAME OVER!!! It will be mine!!! -
This is fantastic. VERY much looking forward to this!

Just another voice adding to the praise... Fantastic job Kurt! Looks beautiful.

MASTER REPLICAS - ALIENS MOTION TRACKER
dr_vandermeer replied to dr_vandermeer's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The LOTR stuff is supposed to be a gimick filled line because the proper replicas are already licensed elsewhere. Sting has a metallic looking blade that uses the same electroluminescent technology as their lightsabers to light up blue and the ring is on Saurons severed finger and has the enscription that appears out of nowhere when activated. There used to be a couple of items in the LOTR section but for some reason they've been cancelled. That motion tracker is cool and I'd like to get it, but not for $400. Thankfully most MR stuff can be had for a lot cheaper if you shop around. Ebay? Other sources? Share the love! -

Just my $.02 ... I wouldn't be surprised if much like the MPC VF-1J, these eventually sell out, retail price or otherwise. The only difference will be that THIS MPC is actually worth getting, and people may be kicking themselves later on for good reason, not having picked one up earlier at a decent price like the low-vizes. Overall quality gets a thumbs up from me. Personally, I'll risk waiting just a little bit to see if I can get a better price, but at the end of the day, I'm definitely getting one. -

Yeah the same answer for any question whether "Are you gonna make a Cyclone, or a tread/Beta or Invid?" The answer is "Buy the Alphas and we'll see" I dont think HG has that much money to plan multiple toys at once. They have to consider the 4 alpha variations first and then if the sales are better than the MPC which im sure they will be, then they can entertain more ideas. Yeah, it's kinda like how Bandai scrapped everything else following the not so good sales of the reissues. If the reissues had sold well, we would've gotten destroids and god (or xstoys) knows what else! -

Tom was EXTREMELY nice and personable. And it was very generous of Toynami to have the Alpha at MW4. I hope that he had a good time and if there is anything new to show around the time of next year's MW5 (ahem, I want Ride Armor/Cyclones dammit!), that he will feel comfortable attending and showing that off as well. Despite it's size, I liked what I saw of the Alpha. I handled it briefly only in fighter mode, but had to leave early (crap!) before I saw it in all of the other modes. It was heavier than I thought it would be, due to the die cast content, and it seemed that Toynami was very careful with the details this time around. Also, IMHO, the color of blue that they chose was perfect. I was also worried about the ground clearance of the chest piece after seeing pics online, but seeing it in person, it's not an issue at all. I can absolutely picture it with a Beta and think that these will sell enough to warrant it. Can anyone else who saw it at MW4 talk about the other modes? I wish I could've stuck around longer to see... Oh BTW, the XSToys collection (or the fraction of it that he brought) was RIDONKULOUS. -
Excellent! Fantastic job Jung. Always loved the green scheme best, and your work just make it shine!

Do you have pics of your ICONS rifle? What kind of features did it have? The link to the airsoft one seems like it's got a lot going for it actually. -

I was going to add this to the McFarlane Movie Maniacs 7 thread, but thought this deserved it's own. Check out this bad boy... ALIENS MOTION TRACKER: http://www2.masterreplicas.com/FX/FXProduc...?sItemID=FX-101 There's other stuff from Predator 2 and AVP too, but to be honest Aliens is all I care about. Anyone here have any items from Master Replicas? From what I understand, their quality is top notch, but it's always good to here a firsthand account. And seriously, I am all in if they put out a pulse rifle...

It’s not that. Or atleast that's not how I see it. I'm not the biggest Spiderman fan I know. There are many cases where images of the World Trade Center Towers got pulled after 9/11 and I totally understand families not wanting to see the collapse over and over again. But there is ALOT more history to the World Trade Center Towers then just 9/11. Why does the ugly always have to outweigh the rest? The World Trade Center towers were something American's were proud of once. I still am. So why is it now something to hide? I don't blame the towers. If the issue is the number of people that died then why do we still see images of cars, airplanes, and guns in movies? If those aren’t specific enough how about the Titanic? Spiderman in NO way glorified what happened on 9/11. You are correct that the reason I brought this topic up has to do with the fact that I liked the movies, but even if I didn't I'd still think the World Trade Center Towers were getting the short end of the stick. As a point of contrast... has anyone here seen the Spiderman comic that JMS did about 9/11? Am I to take that to mean it's ok to show the Twin Towers as long as one is talking about 9/11? Wouldn't that be MORE likely to upset the families of those lost? Maybe the best way to put into words what I'm feeling is to ask these questions. What is your first thought when I you hear the word Titanic? How about the Hindenburg? I just think there should be a resistance to giving in and letting the Twin Towers become the embodiment of terrorism. That is what they (the terorists) wanted and I don't want to give it to them. I'd think the families of those lost would agree. I think the big difference is time... I'm sure that in due time, 9/11 will be like those other disasters that you mentioned. Or even a more recent event like Pearl Harbor. Maybe Michael Bay'll make a rock 'em sock 'em big budget action picture revolving around it in a couple years. But for right now, it may be STILL fresh for some people, yes, even after all these years. I can't even begin to fathom what that date means to some people. I personally don't think it has anything to do with political correctness. I've even read recently that the one item that Sam Raimi WON'T sign is the Spider-Man teaser poster with the towers in it. He makes it up in other ways to the people asking, but he has made a personal decision not to do so out of respect. But I do love the trailer, and thanks to EXO, now you and I have it.

The women who dress scantily are not trying to draw attention to themselves? I take what he does as a spoof on those Cosplay Girls...... If he did moon then he does deserve the boot. A7 Were there any ladies showing as much skin? To be honest, the fact that he's cosplaying as Faye is not a big deal to me. Some guys dress up as female characters. Fine. It's the fact that he goes the extra mile by purposefully having the shorts ride so far up into his crack that bothers me. Once is funny, twice is annoying and desperate. I also think any female cosplyer doing that would probably also have been asked to cover up.... ...well, after getting her picture taken by all the fanboy otaku...

Oh great, a little bondo, a saw, and some paint, and >EXO< will have a 1/10 Minmay giving us the bird.

Thanks A7. Can't wait for the next update!
