Wow, that's some nice work. But I think the 21 would look better if they finish wasn't so flat. And could you post some info on that modeling group? I want in on it
-
I agree that it can be useful for legit purposes, but it pisses me off when I see people abusing it. So, is there any compromise we can reach? Like maybe enabling it only in the sale/trade forums? Limiting frequency of use allowed? Implementing some sort of punishment for blatent abuse? Anything? And just out of curiosity, is there any way for mods to revert a post back to its original, unedited form?

Those are actually pretty rare Good find!

What you're talking about is a milling machine, not a lathe. Lathes would be utterly useless in making molds I have a small bench lathe, and I'm hopefully going to be getting a mill sometime in the near future. But they're just tools for scratch-building. Making injection molds is still way beyond me. And I really don't need the to do injection stuff, anyway. Everything I need to do, I can do with silicone.

Real sorry to hear that, man.... Best of luck in finding a new job... and I hope you won't have to resort to selling any of your collection to raise funds (that always hurts...)

ewwww... for a 'cartoon-passion' recast, 1/10th that, tops. They're all over ebay, and from what I've heard, thier recasts are total crap.

Wow, that's looking pretty good. Some clever engineering going on in there. The sliders for the boosters look like they should be pretty stable with that design. If they're wobbily, they that just means you have to tighten the tolerances between the parts. As for strength... yea. If they're just plastic pieces glued together, they'll be fragile. But if they were recasted as one piece, they'd be a lot stronger. Only problems that I see are that the boosters are sticking out a bit much when they're extended rearward. And you'll have to hinge the tailfins to the boosters too. And the wing hinges look really good too. It's interesting how you made it both slide and pivot in order to get them in the two positions perfectly. Keep it up! I'll be looking forward to seeing the finished model

Yea, the 3 minute stuff sets up way too fast. Especaially if you're pressure casting. But yea, mix thoroughly but quickly, if you're using SC-300. Also, with some times of resins, it's necessary to shake up the container of each part before pouring and mixing. The suff I'm using now won't cure for crap unless I shake them up real good RIGHT before I pour them. But this obviously introduces a LOT of air into the mix, making de-airing methods all the more necessary.

White Wolf Games Studio sues Sony over copyright

Dude! Don't just hot-link PA's image like that! Edit: Looks like a mod deleted the post. Thanks, whoever that was -
< sigh >... Like Shawn, myself, and several other have already stated in this very thread; It's not about legal rights. It's about respect. Nanashi has posted these and many other rare images on his site as a service to us all. And all he asks of you in return is to not steal those images. Is that really too much to ask?

Hey, that's a really good idea. It'd make a perfect straight edge to use while etching straight lines. And I actually have that set of saws, but I can't find them I've been using one of these to etch panel lines. I've been collecting various scribe tools for a while now (trying to find one that works well), and this one is by far the best I've tried. http://www.hlj.com/cgi-perl/hljpage.cgi?HSGTT-11 It's the second in a series of 2. I need to get the first one, just to see how they're different. But HLJ rarely has either of them in stock Just about any of Hasegawa's TriTool line are great investments. They're pretty pricey, but extremely useful!

Someone up there is taunting me... I finally found a bittorrent link of Yukikaze episode 3.... and it turns out to be another raw But it's a DVD rip, so it'll surely be a better copy that the one I've had on my FTP (which was a pay-per-view TV recording - that's why it had periodic scrolling ads at the bottom of the screen) http://www.saiyaman.info/bt/

I recently was able to get buy originals of two more kits on my wanted list. Retpuu's 1/100 VF-11MAXL battroid and fighter mode kits. And I must say, I'm quite pleased with them. They're quite a bit bigger and better proportioned and detailed than the Bandai 1/144 kits. And what's interesting about them, is that if you have both kits, you can build it in gerwalk mode instead. But if you do that, you won't have the parts left to build it in fighter or battroid mode, making it a rather expensive gerwalk... But the good part is that the fighter mode (which is the one I really wanted) is a very simple kit, with only 8 parts. Making it a pretty simple recast project So I was wondering, how many of you would be interested in getting a recast of it? I'm guessing the cost would be between $20 and $25. Battroid and gerwalk recasts are also a posibility, if interest is high enough. It's about 7 inches long when completed. No decals were included with the originals, but they're really not necessary, since all the painting guide lines are all all engraved (exept the Gubaba thing on the wing, it's raised). But unfortunately, there's no cockpit detail... the canopy is molded to the fuselage.
-
Tell you what, you find me one to recast, and I'll be glad to do it But i REALLY think you people are underestimating just how rare this kit is. There's a reason why Carl is going to great lengths to try to get his hands on one.
-
There was also a plush Gubaba. I know of only one person who owns one, and I've NEVER seen one for sale.... And I've been looking since 1997, when I first saw it...

It was Tect who made the upgrade kits, actually. I should actaully be recasting some of them in the coming months, with the help of Sully, who's agreed to loan them to me. First up is the 1/144 Full Armored VF-11

I'm working on building one of my own VF-4's as a side project right now, and I actually found that it's almost better not to have a perfectly smooth seam between those two parts. I glued mine in place with some gap-filling super glue, then sanded the seam smooth. But when I got aroung to re-etching panel lines, I found that I actually want a panel line at that seam, at the top of the fuselage. So I had to try to etch a line freehand over that convex surface, just behind the glue line, and I'm still not sure how successful I was. But I'll find out when I get around to painting it (prolly a couple months from now <_< )

One of these might help. One of Micro-Mark's many useful modeling tools. http://www.ares-server.com/Ares/Ares.asp?M...roduct&ID=82448

I'd rather not see anything set further out in the future. There's too many gaps that need to be filled first. I'd love see a series about the Delta Wars. Largely cause I wanna know what the hell they ARE And hey, Isamu could be in it

I've gotta go with #1 And I love the head on the fighter

Learning to print my own decals is the next big step I need to take. I'll need them for most of the scratch-build projects I'm planning. I'm planning on getting an Alps printer when I have money again, but I'm not sure where to go from there. Can you recomend a good decal paper source, Anasazi? The only stuff I've tried was from MicroMark (and that was years ago), and that stuff pretty much sucked.

I'm thinking that if you don't want to invest in a good airbrush and a compressor, you should stick with spray paint for large areas like that. In my experience, crappy airbrushes always give crappy results. I had two testors airbrushes, and both frustrated the hell out of me. Then I finally broke down and bought a Badger 150 dual action and a compressor. That was 4 years ago. I still use it to this day.

Sadly, I don't expect to see a domestic release for quite a while, considering that the series won't be finished for almost another year. Because, although 6 month waits between episodes can be commonplace in japan, that kind of thing doesn't fly here in the states. Fans here aren't nearly that patient. Anyone else remember how long Manga kept us waiting between volumes 3 and 4 of Macross Plus? But, of course I shall anxiously await thier domestic release, and I'll be first in line to buy them when they're out. But until then, I'll continue to download the raws and fansubs. Cause I'm an impatient american too

That remains to be seen. Lots of liscensed series are still being subbed. Even Gundam Seed, even though Bandai has threatened legal action (episode 46 was released today, in fact )
