Yea, I'm afraid another 1/72 would be a tough sell. The Moscato version has been around for years, and it's still in production. But one scaled to the Yamato 1/60 toys would be pretty badass!

Got mine today. I was pretty impressed with it! But the Hikaru A/S paint job with a VF-1J head was bugging me. So I did something about it But it wasn't until after I finished that I noticed that it has VF-1S head lasers... so now it's bugging me again

I've been trying to get off my lazy ass and start building again the last few days. And coincidentally, it's the same kit as Jefuemon's! I'd started this one a few years ago, but didn't get very far with it. So far, I've just been doing assembly on the main sections, leaving the smaller bits in the box for now. It's already taking some work getting gaps filled (with epoxy putty and surfacer) and adjusting the fit on a few parts. I'm hoping I haven't bitten off more than I can chew with this one, seeing as I haven't finished a kit in years now. I'd hate to end up ruining such an expensive kit. But I feel better knowing that it'll be damn near worthless once the Hasegawa version is out next year

I hadn't heard of them before, but I'm liking the site! They're a bit pricey, but their selection is great. And they're probably just about the only place that sells this stuff these days...

It's been a long time since I built that kit. But from what I remember, battroid mode was ok, but fighter and gerwalk were pretty horrible. It was a pretty pathetic excuse for a transformable kit.

Mr Color lacquer paints are damn near unobtainable in the states these days... I still have a bunch I ordered from Rainbow Ten, back when they still did mail orders. But that was the only way I ever found to get them. Their Aqueos line of acrylics is pretty good too, and I've seen them in some local hobby shops. But the color range is a bit more limited.

Well, I tried. I realized that I have that logo on my Macross Plus LD box. But alas, it's not in the best shape. I can get you a 1200dpi scan, but I fear it'd take a lot of photoshop magic to make it worth printing. I do also have the Sharon Apple version of the logo if you want that for the other side of the cabinet. But the quality wouldn't be any better...

Thanks for the pics! I do kinda regret passing it up... But at the same time, I'd expect cleaner casts from a $230 kit. Though they're certainly not terrible.

All of the guy's kits seem to be non-scale. But the kit measures about 7 1/8" long, which would put it at about 1/9000, based on the length spec in the design sheet.

Oh, fine... It's actually kinda funny, but I didn't notice until last night that it was the TV design! I barely looked at the parts before I got it home, and just assumed that it was the Flashback design. They didn't have a display model of it, and I got the only one that was on their table. I'm guessing that it was left over stock from another event.

I really wanted the MAXL, but I couldn't bring myself to spend Y23,000 on it... I waited and hoped he would drop the price, but he never did. I ended up walking away with: Sheryl's Shuttle Argenics (the ship from Macross M3) SDF-2 Megaroad (the design from Perfect Memory, not Flashback 2012) VF-1X++ Double Plus conversion kit Arcadia 1/60 VF-1 stand And a few other non-Macross kits I didn't get everything I wanted, but it was still a great show!

Well, I tried... I took the first train in, to get in line as early as possible (short of waiting overnight). When I got in, I went straight for that table. I thought there was hope when there was almost no one in front of the table. But alas, they were all gone... But it was still a great show!

I've been wanting to make a VF-1SR conversion kit for years now. But I wouldn't mind at all if someone beat me to it! I'd recommend doing it for the 1/60s also. Partly because the Yamato unassembled kits are perfect for job. White plastic, no stripping necessary, and they come with all the red stripe decals you'll need. Ad if you're going to make them for a toy, you might as well make them transformable! There's not much to making the booster go from fighter to battroid mode.

Those look awesome! I'd love to have a couple of my own. Any chance you'd be willing to share the STL files? My Makerbot hasn't been seeing a lot of action lately As for manufacturing, I'm thinking resin would be the way to go. Print one at max resolution, sand out the steps a bit, and mold it up. The bases can be cast in ordinary resin (I like Smooth-On's SC-321), but the arms would need something stronger. I'd probably go with Task 2 for the job.

I gave the masters back to SSM a while back. Work has been keeping me way too busy for most side work, so I'm pretty out of the casting biz...No idea if SSM has gotten a new caster to take on the project. Couldn't hurt to ask John if you could do it!
