  1. Let's see... Wave made a sound booster version of their 1/72 Fire Valkyrie. And also their 1/100 VF-17T Kai has a sound booster. And someone... Tect, I think, made a 1/100 VF-11MAXL with sound boosters. I think that one's fixed pose though. Also, there was a Wonderfest kit of a 1/72 sound booster add-on for the Hasegawa YF-19. Seemed kinda pointless to me though, as the YF-19 and VF-19A are very different from the F, S, and Kai types.
  2. There's already battroid kits of all of those in 1/100 scale. And 1/72 also, for the VF-17 and Fire Valkyrie.
  3. Wow, you've got some pretty good stuff there! The best of the lot are probably the Monsters. I sold a 1/200 for $90 not too long ago. Not sure of the going rate for the 1/160, but probably in the neighborhood of $150 The 1/72 destroids, Glaug, and Regult are up there too. Dunno exactly, but I'd say at least $50 each. The 1/100 stuff probably isn't worth much. I'd say about $10 - $20each. With the exception of the Armored Valkyries, most of the 1/72 valks probably aren't worth a whole lot, since the Hasegawas really are much better. But the Imai kits were great for thier time, so I'm sure they've still got some collectability going for them. As for the other boxes you mentioned.... BRING ON THE RESIN!!
  4. Very cool, Honneamise! You sure work fast But where are all the replies at? Does no one care about these anymore?
  5. Alright, took a few pics of the truck mocked up a bit. The metal plates and bumper are glued down now, but the entire driver's compartment is temporarily held in place with clay. The figure I've got in there is temorary, obviously. And the seat and cushions need more work. I may end up shortening the seat too, if the legs on the final figure are too short, like Hikaru's. I found lenses for the rear brake lights too. They're some of Wave's rivets. These will probably be made seperate pieces to make painting easier. And they'll be plastic Wave parts, not resin casts. In the pic with the wheels, the front wheel is the one I plan on using. The rear ones are just mock-ups. They're the closest I could find in terms of size, but still a bit too small. Next up, I get to work on the tie-downs on the hood. I'm still not sure if they'll be seperate parts, or part of the main cast. But we'll see. And I really should get started on the driver figure... I have a feeling it'll be the last thing done, no matter when I start it...
  6. It's coming along quite well. I'd put the total progress at about 80% right now. No new pics at the moment. It'd look damn close to the last ones anyway. Except now the bumper is in place (with the diagonal lines scribed in) I've still got a bit more detailing to do. And I've still gotta build the '5th wheel' for the top. And the tow bar for the back. And devise a way for it to link to the VF-1's landing gear. And (the part that worries me the most) modify a driver figure into something that looks like it MIGHT have come out of Macross I think I finally found a set of front wheels that'll work well. They're from an Arii/Bandai 1/100 variable VF-1 kit. But the ones I have aren't in that great of shape. Anyone got a set of them they could send my way? Oh, and I found the perfect clear headlights for it too, in one of Wave's 'H-Eyes' sets. The final kit will include solid cast ones, but you can replace them with the Wave ones for that extra bit of detail. I've been working on designing my GU-11 gunpod loading cart a bit too. And one of the first things I noticed was that the stock VF-11 kit sits far too low for a cart w/ gunpod to fit under it. So it looks like I'll be modifying the stock landing gear so its cylinders are extended further, raising it up. And if all goes well, I'll be able to cast them in metal when the time comes The original plan was to sell the tow tractor and gunpod cart as a set... But it's looking like I'll have one done long before the other, so I may just scrap that plan and sell them seperately.
  7. No Mave-Chan, but no big loss there. It sucks. And too many time jumps? There was only one... ... well, two if you count the bit after the credits Personally, I understood episode 5 almost entirely when I watched the DVD today. I had watched the fansub version a few times, and a few points had confused me. But the Bandai translations makes some things a lot clearer. My only disapointment was that there weren't more special features to make up for it being only one episode. The director's interview had a bit of insight though.
  8. It's worth mentioning that a few years ago, I was talking with a couple Manga reps at Anime Central (back when they were still insisting that a DVD release was in the works), and they told me that they never owned an english language liscense to Gunbuster. That's why they never did a dubbed version, even back in the VHS days. It was the only thing that came out of their mouthes that I believed
  9. Well, first of all, there are two 1/72 fold boosters out there. The first comes with the Club-M 1/72 YF-19 resin kit. It's pretty decent, but the clear 'window' parts are cast in a foggy clear resin, and fit rather poorly (I had one, but recently sold it). The Club-M kit will run you about $100 The other (which is the one you have pictured) was a limited run kit by UN・BALANCE, sold in limited quantities at Wonderfest It looks pretty good, but it's cast solid. No clear windows or inner detail. It's pretty rare, but I've seen them on Yahoo Japan Auctions from time to time, selling for about Y6000 (around $55) But to answer your question... if I were to make one from scratch, I'd start by drawing a side profile of it, then I'd transfer the curves to a piece of sheet styrene. Then I'd start machining a plastic rod to shape on a lathe, using the styene piece as a template. It'd take a lot of rough cuts at first, then a lot more fine-tuning to get the shape right. There'd still be a lot of detailing to add, but it'd be a good starting point. That's just how I would do it tho... mainly 'cause I have a lathe at my disposal
  10. Got mine today from Twin Moons. Only transformed it once so far, but I've had no problems with it. But then again, I ended up loosening the screws on the metal arms a little. They seemed pretty stiff, and it was making me nervous I got my VF-0S along with it, which I had pre-ordered them both at the same time. When I didn't get the VF-0 when it was released, I assumed they ran out before they could fill my order. But it seems that instead they were just waiting to fill my complete order. But oh well, it's all good.
  11. One more quick update. I've been working on the diamond plate the past couple days. And after a bit of trial and error, I think I've about got it. My knurling tool should arive tomorrow, so once this and the front bumper are done, I'll be starting on the wheels.
  12. Thanks for the ideas. I may end up doing something like that. As for the wheels, I may end up scratchbuiding them after all. Last night I finally found the ones I had started on a year or so ago. But that was before I revised the drawings, and made the rear tires bigger. So they probably won't be used anyway :/ But the biggest problem I had with them last time was that I wasn't able to get a halfway decent tread pattern scribed in them. But I think I've got that solved... I ordered a knurling tool for my lathe
  13. Quick update. I've been trying to do both detailing, and fine-tuning the overall shape at the same time. And I'm realising that it's not a great way to go about doing things. But it's working so far. I think. I finished the circle-bar tie-downs in the rear bumper today, and drilled out the holes for the headlights and tail lights. I still need to either find or fabricate lenses for them though. I started doing the diamond plate surfaces too. I think the photo-etch I've got for it is just about right. I cut it roughly to shape for the two smaller surfaces, but I've still gotta build a frame around it. And I've only got a place holder for the 'hood' so far. It's definitely proving to be an interesting project. Especially considering that I have to plan for casting every step of the way. I have to make sure I'll be able to make an effective, durable mold of the final piece.
  14. That would be the Dragon II. Tanmen made a kit of it in 1/72, and a lucky few people here own one. I've been wanting to get my hands on one for quite a while now... Anyone out there want to sell theirs?
  15. So as to not further hijack Honneamise's Ghost thread, here's one for Macross vehicle models. To kick it off, here's my progress on my model of the day. I started over again on my 1/72 tow tractor scratchbuild. The first attempt I gave up on because stuff wasn't coming out straight. The second was looking a lot better, but when I pulled it out today, I found that a several areas were severely warped due to shrinkage of the polyester putty that I used. So it was back to square one. So once again, working off my CAD drawings, I cut out the shapes on styrene and started gluing and filling (with Apoxie Sculpt this time around). I worked on it on and off for about 7 hours tonight, and this is as far as I've gotten. All the basic shapes are in place at this point. It just needs some fine-tuning and a lot of detail work. It still needs lights, streering wheel, pedals, seat cushion, etc, etc. And I'm still not quite sure what I'm going to do for the wheels. Scratch building them is probably out of the question, so I've gotta dig through my parts box and see if I have anything close. But anyway, I don't want this thread to just be about my project. So post all your wants and ideas here. And if anyone else is inspired to take up a vehicle scratchbuild, then by all means, post pics here!
  16. I started on a 1/72 tow tractor a while back... even managed to recover my old CAD drawings of it not too long ago. Maybe I should start that project up again... (it's the one next to the cherry picker in that pic) I was planning on selling it as a kit along with a GU-11 gunpod transport/loading cart. There's no design art of it in any book, but the partial side view of it in episode 1 shoud be enough to go on.
  17. Nope, not mine. I just collect tons of model pics from yahoo japan auctions
  18. Ya know, that's not even RSB's biggest VF-1...
  19. I'm on the way to Wonderfest at this very moment. Looking forward to meeting all you! I've got the target drone with me And a couple VF-11 kits, if you can find me in time
  20. Heh. It's on hold for a bit, while I work on my Wonderfest project (which may or may not be entirely in vein -- I've got 4 days left to finish it). I'm building a resin kit of the Starblade, a space fighter from a Namco arcade game of the same name. I should be pretty damn cool, if I can finish it
  21. Wow, it IS transformable... And rather pricey at Y18,900. Honestly, I'd rather have a cheaper, non-transformable one. The Buster Machine modes look like ass. It takes way too many compromises to make a transformable Gunbuster. Makes me want to build my 1/500 resin kits of the Gunbuster and Buster Machines. Now THEY look good! I think that'll be my project for next year's Wonderfest, in fact...
  22. Goddamn... a kit just like that one just sold on Yahoo Japan Auctions for Y63,500 http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/86149630
  23. Heh! Lately, its progress hasn't been moving at the brisk pace that it once was. I'm going to be spending a good chunk of the day working on it in between casting VF-11s today tho. Planning on building the rear of the plane, fine-tuning the nose, and hopefully fix the shape of the engine pod so I don't have to rebuild it (I'm not too happy with how the shape has turned out)
  24. Valkyrie

    Low Viz 3.0

Looks good. But I think it'd look better if you paint the feet either black or gunmetal. A little bit of an oil wash for the panel lines wouldn't hurt either.
  25. Aves Apoxie Sculpt. Excelent stuff. http://www.starshipmodeler.com/cfstore/ind...&category_id=75
