Vertex Nebula does some incredible work! But all of his are single mode models.
-
I ordered one of these from Chowbrick. It took about a month to arrive, but it got here in good shape, and they did include the box. I haven't had time to build much of it yet. And it's probably going to take me a while, since I'm trying to replace all the transparent green and purple bits with solid blue and white bricks. I think it'll look a lot better that way when it's done.

I would absolutely pay for the files if he were to make them available for sale.

Animeigo Macross Box Set - Black Cases vs Color Cases
Valkyrie replied to CryptCat's topic in Movies and TV Series
Looks like it could be! Kawamori was indeed at AX in 2016. And it looks pretty close to his autograph that I got in 2002. -
Yea, they can't be huge, if they couldn't justify making one more set of molds for this new version. But then again, that beam cannon is a pretty damn complicated part. It probably would have had to get broken down into a few smaller parts for it to be cast-able with silicone molds.

I finally got my Final Sortie Mave yesterday. It looks like it's the same as the Ramjet version, with the obvious addition of the beam cannon and generator turbine parts. But what I didn't expect is that the new parts are 3D printed resin! No real complaint, since the parts still look fantastic, but it's really surprising to see on a retail resin kit.

I remember those photos! It's really a shame that most of them were never released. I have one of their Banshee IV kits, and it's really impressive!

Damn, that's pretty tempting. At least this one won't have another crappy cockpit 😄

If anyone's interested, the "final sortie" version of the Mave is now available at HLJ. And only 4 months late! https://www.hlj.com/1-72-scale-supersylph-yukikaze-ffr-41mr-maeve-yukikaze-final-sortie-form-plzx-17

They're non-transformable, but on Cults3d, Minivalks has models of the VF-3000 in all 3 modes. That guy does incredible work. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/vf-3000-crusader https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/vf-3000-crusader-battroid-mode https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/vf-3000-crusader-gerwalk-mode

Wow! That thing looks incredible! I'd love to have one, but I don't know if I'd even have a place to display something that big.

That's a really impressive build, Indigo! I've been out of the loop for a while, and I was really surprised to see that Platz is producing Yukikaze kits again. They've even got a Mave with its full loadout from episode 5 due out this month! I've got one preordered at HLJ. Though I do also wish they would have given us a better cockpit by now. https://www.hlj.com/1-72-scale-supersylph-yukikaze-ffr-41mr-maeve-yukikaze-final-sortie-form-plzx-17

I found one more Gunbuster kit from Kaiyodo. Looks like they've taken that same soft vinyl kit and made an injection molded version of it. https://www.hlj.com/artpla-sculpture-works-gunbuster-noriko-takaya-kazumi-amano-absolute-defense-battle-of-the-solar-system-kyd19026 It's pretty crazy to see how many new models Gunbuster is getting for this anniversary, after getting next to nothing for the past 35 years!
-
Thanks for letting us know about those kits! It's about time someone made plastic kits of the ships! I don't know anything about that company, Bellfine, but I already ordered a set. That soft vinyl kit is a reissue of a garage kit from the 90s. I actually built one, many years ago. It's a great looking kit, but vinyl is a pain to work with. Eliminating the seams took forever. I also found this one on HLJ. It looks like they took that same kit and scaled it up, making it about 20 inches tall! https://www.hlj.com/mega-sofvi-gunbuster-kyd00107

It's an isolation transformer for the monitor. They're important on old CRT monitors to protect your PCB and prevent electrical shocks. Definitely keep it. Looks like a great project! And I'm glad you were able to find a replacement for that control panel!

1/72 F203 Dragon II Kit Proposal --Moscato Hobby
Valkyrie replied to captain america's topic in Model kits
Oh hell yea! I'm in for one! -
Damn, it looks like most of the parts in the kit aren't resin cast, but 3D printed on an FDM printer. I'm really not a fan of that method of production. FDM printed parts are a pain in the ass to sand to a smooth finish. Definitely not the kind of thing I'd like to see in a kit sold for $300.

I finally got my kit yesterday! This thing is huge!! Overall, it's really impressive. But cleanup is a pain, because the points where the parts connect to the sprues are huge. Especially on the wings. The molding quality is better than I expected, but there's some parts that have sink marks caused by the parts being too thick in some areas. The most serious I've noticed are on the legs, which are new parts to this kit. The back side of them have huge alignment pegs, which caused distortion on the top surface, It'll take some work to repair it, especially where it's distorted surface detail. On the plus side, the backpack looks a lot better in this version. They slimmed it down a lot.

Damn, 4 months! Then it's probably a good thing HLJ didn't get mine shipped before the shutdown. It's back in my private warehouse now, and they gave me the shipping cost back as store credit. I think I'm going to go ahead and have them ship it via fedex instead.

Well... things have changed. I just got an email from HLJ, saying that effective 4/24, Japan Post is suspending shipping to the USA. However, FedEx and DHL are still available for now. So unless they manage to get my kit shipped today, I'll either be paying an extra $50 for FedEx, or waiting for EMS to reopen. https://support.hlj.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000679023-Temporary-Stoppage-of-Japan-Post-services-to-the-USA

I ordered it to my private warehouse, and requested an EMS shipping quote when it came in stock. They replied with those three prices, and they were all cheaper than the prices the automatic system gave me. I think DHL was originally about Y30,000. You should send them a message and ask for an EMS quote. It may come out cheaper for you too, even if they can't ship it with EMS.

HLJ got back to me last night. They gave me these three much more reasonable offers. EMS: Y7,620 FedEx: Y12,223 DHL: 13,177 They asked which one I wanted to go with, and they will be processing the shipment tomorrow.

Thanks again. I submitted a request for an EMS quote over the weekend. Looking forward to hearing back, so I can get started on this thing ASAP!

That sounds great, thanks! Yea, Y9840 for EMS sounds much better. And the box dimensions on HLJ show that the Strike fighter is about half the size and weight of this one. Actually, this page shows that it should only be Y8000 to ship to North America via EMS. I'd pay that in a heartbeat. https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/charge/list/ems_all_en.html

The normal fighter kit is in at HLJ! But damn... the cheapest shipping option is $139 for standard airmail, and that takes 2-6 weeks to get to the US.
