I use custom waterslide decals made by Anasazi.

Hello again. I just finished another custom. A 1A in standard cannon fodder paint with a few changes to accomodate the Sundowners insignias. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
-
Thanks. I am not sure what you are refering too. I did not added any features to the neck area, so it must be included in the kit.
-
Sorry, it's already packed up. I did not take any images up close of the cockpit.

Can I ask how you do the panel lines? Is that a wash? Your panel lining job appears "just right", not too dark, not too light. I'm having trouble achieving line consistency and that "just right" look. Thanks everyone for the compliments. For the panel lines I use a combination of pre/post shading and an oil wash. I use raw umber oil paint thinned with turpenoid and flow that into the panel lines.

I would say it took me about 5 weeks. I had to deal with the gummy canopy and all of the other parts were "soft" so I had to spend the time to cure those some more. This is just a busy time of year for everyone, so I know I can do them quicker than 5 weeks. As for the black arm bands. All I had to go by was Hasegawa's painting guide and Yamatos 1/60. Neither of these show black arm bands. Thanks everyone!

Here is the first 1D that I have completed for a customer. Let me know what you think and I will answer any questions you have. Thanks!

John, I am missing this part in the kit for The Lone Wolf. Kurt

I would have done panel lines if the customer requested it. The "cockpit housing"? Are you refering to the gray piece behind the canopy? I was just following Hasegawa's painting guide, and it shows that piece gray.

I just put the finishing touches on a 1/72 Hasegawa YF-19. This is the first one of these that I have built. It was a nice kit to work on. A nice change of pace from all of the 1/48 customs. Customer wanted a nice clean paint job with no weathering. Let me know what you think.

That can be arranged. Let me know if you are interested. Capt - I am going to try and cure the canopy in the oven this weekend. I hope it works.

Hi Kurt. Yes, the clear resin has a tendancy to be quite tempermental, and I've had words with Smooth-On over this very issue. You can cook the canopy in the oven at 150f (not higher!) for about 4 hours and let cool. This helps to harden the resin and increase it's physical properties. According to Smooth On, even when the parts come out soft like that, they WILL eventually firm up, but because the material is very fickle when mixing, some batches will simply take longer to harden. 341013 Captain, The canopy in the one sent for fearyaks is gummy as well. I will place it in the oven to try and cure it. While in the oven, will it soften even more? Should I support it while it is baking? Thanks. 341579 Yes it will. You'll need to place the part on a cookie tray, and preferably a sheet of wax paper between them. I cannot stress how important temperature control is in this instance. The oven should be set to exactly 150f, not higher. For what it's worth, this technique does work in the long-term: I have a clear cockpit half from my Regult kit which I had never shipped-out, because it suffered from Gummy syndrome, so I baked it for 4 hours as suggested by Smooth On. THe effect was not immediate honestly, it took about 2 months, but the part is now completely cured and as stiff as it should be. This is the only reason I shipped-out the first few models with soft canopies: I knew that they'd harden with time, otherwise I would have simply replaced the parts before shipping 'em. 341582 Any suggestions on how to paint something so flexable? Any way to get it replaced with a rigid one?

Does anyone know where I could find a painting guide for the VF-1D. I would prefer the Hasegawa one. With these 1/48 conversions coming I would like a good guide to go by. The 1D is one kit that I don't have. Thanks for your help.
-
For those of you interested in me doing the conversion, PM me and I can give you an accurate quote now. Thanks.
-
Just a reminder for everyone that I am willing to do the conversions and re-paints. I don't want to quote a price yet till I see the actual parts involved. Keep it mind for those of you that are unsure about doing it yourself.

It does not bother me one bit that the creator does not get the prize. I did the YF-19 that Goldenboy Forever entered. He paid for the work that I did, that is all I expect. Once I ship a custom to a customer, it is thiers to do with as they wish. I would ask that they give credit to the person who actually created it though, which was the case at this convention. It may generate interest in my work from people viewing the contest. More business is always good!

I need help! I am looking for a Yamato YF-19 part. I need the left side main fuselage fin. This is the one directly behind the canopy. Any color will do as long as it is in good shape. Will pay just about any price. Please elt me know.
