Wow, where does that Radamantis come from? Is it a custom? Or a new Bandai release with the old body? Oh, and about the Bronze Saints, they are nice, but nothing close to the Gold Saints, especially for its price. They are the main characters though, so its something good to have, especially when swapping the Cloths. But when your budget is limited, and you are more for the Gold Saints, the Bronzes can be passed.

PURTY!

Barbies!? And our Macross collection would be... "Gobots with a bigger price tag"? LOL.

Finally got my Camus! So here is the run down: Awesome design in the locking mechanism on the torso armor pieces. While the belt piece of Aiolia is separated from the chest armor, and may occasionally loosen up with you twisting the figure's waist too much, Camus' is rock solid! The belt piece & chest armor lock with each other with both pegs front & back, making this the best locking mechanism design I've seen in all Seiya Myths releases. Genius! However, because of the tight waist design of the cloth itself, it doesn't leave much room for Camus' waist to twist much under the armor...unlike Aiolia. The overall look of the Cloth is very pretty, has a lighter light Gold shade than Aiolia's, and feels a bit heavier than Aiolia's as well. Though disappointingly, the shoulder armor pieces are not diecast this time. But the bigger size of some of the pieces add to its weight regardless. Head articulation is really bad this time. The two hair bands that drape down in front is actually very flexible, but its the piece of hair thats right behind the ears that gets in the way. Its not flexible at all, and gets in the way of the shoulder armor even when you try to turn it slightly, leaving you only like 5-10 degree, which is terrible. Camus' eyes aren't too cool looking either. I think they separate the brow from the eyes too far, leaving a lot of gap. Seiya characters are always drawn with their eyebrows touching the top of their eyes. Don't know why they sculpt Camus like this. But he still looks pretty cool, especially without the mask on with the hair piece on the forehead. Also, it comes with an extra Hyoga head with different hair design that fit the Aquarius head mask. Some of Camus' extra open hands look a bit big too, but the fists ones look fine. Leg armors fits very well this time without coming loose at all. So overall, a figure with some improvement in design, but the poseability really takes a hit on the neck & waist, making Camus a bit stiff compare to Aiolia. There is still some minor QC hiccups, like I got a very loose toe on one leg, and a couple spots having the orange shade painted too thin. Camus definitely look slimmer than Aiolia too, but he's still very cool & pretty nonetheless. Now give me my Shaka!

I don't know. Regardless its not so accurate transformation, the sculpt can still be significantly better than that. That head just look really weird, and the overall proportion is still off. Torso too short, upper legs too long, hip too high, shoulder too wide, claws for arms, weird head...etc. If Yamato can find such a fine balance in all 3 modes of VF-1, they can do better than this if they try. Like I said previously, even the transforming Lego one looks better proportion-wise.
-
I actually like the lego one better, in the sense of proportion & robot stance. I think Yamato can do better than that if they really try. Robot mode looks much compromised, with a weird stance & look. Not close to the line art at all. Sometimes, I wonder why Yamato have been making unnecessary design decisions that takes away the aesthetics of the toy. Like the 1/60 GBP's big shoulder pad, big hands & wide hips. Now the Monster's weird robot mode. I mean some parts still look nice, just not together as a whole.

I feel sorry for you too. I would prefer to be someone that can both appreciate 'realistic' rendition pieces & fun, crappy looking toys that I can really play with. Yup. More power to me!

From what I get out of watching the series a few times, I believe Vash could either be either some genetically engineered humans that human on earth created & exploited as a power source, or a member of an alien race that Earth discovered/captured, and experimented with. Those living things that appeared in the core of the Plants is obviously his kind, as he is the only one that can communicate with them. And they always show some form of a human figure within those core. Rem did mentioned Vash & Knives were angels given to them, which could mean that humans really found them somewhere (in space?), and have beening using them as power source. But other than that, not much else were mentioned in the TV series. Unless they revealed more in the manga.

It looks like a tekkaman figure to me. That is a Super Robot Wars video game original design. One of the earlier designs that first showed up in the Super Famicom days. If I remember correctly, its called ValsionR, piloted by Ryune, who is the girl friend of Masaki Ando(Cybuster). She totally look like the Gundam girls, as the design IS a cute girly humonoid with add-on armor pieces.

Man. So jealous of you getting it that cheap. I had to pay big bucks getting mine a few years back, but didn't regret it one bit though, especially now that I have a decent income, a couple hundred bucks is no longer a big deal. The GBP valk has always been my most favorite toy, and gave me such joy owning it once again almost 2 decades later. And its so true, the 1/55 VF-1A head shape does fit the look of Takatoku GBP better, though 1J's red head stripe does have better matching color, and looks more 'meant to be'. I love these toys!

Wow, Thai Moves Have Come A Long Way, Ong Bak....

Man. A co worker of mine just gaved me a copy of this DVD, which is a HK release I believe. But to my surprise, it doesn't play in all DVD players that I have. Turned out its a region 3. Now makes me itch about watching it even more. -
No female. Though Aphrodite of Pisces looks very much like a girl, cause he's supposedly one of the prettiest man ever... more like the most girly man ever.

My Ears, my ears, please someone stop the pain
mpchi replied to Knight26's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Totally agreed. Many of you guys seem to take William Hung's singing a bit too serious. I have a co-worker bought his CD, and played it out loud occasionally when a bunch of guys working late. I have to say not many singers can generate as much laughter in the hallway than his. Good music? Heck no! Fun music? Kind of. Rocket Ma~~~n!! *tone deaf* -
Shura looks sweet, with the optional mask/helmet! Wish the shoulder armor is slightly higher. The rest looks really good. Nice

Cool pics! My Camus just got shipped from HLJ, but I won't be getting it until a couple weeks later. Shaka looks pretty good with the eyes closed and no helmet. They even give you the beats & a little stool for him to sit on. Nice touch! Hope to see some pics of Aioros soon.

I might get this set if the price is right. I do like the movies, though not my all time favorites. And they included the Animatrix as well, which is a big plus for me. And I don't own any of the previous DVD releases. Guess its good to have waited. Just hope I can get some good deal from Best Buy or stores alike when its out.

LOL I too think that a kid with such attitude should not be rewarded in anyway at all! Be it Robotech or not. Imagine how much more appreciation they would get if they fall into the hands of a nice but poor kid who might have watched a couple episodes before, but was too poor to have his parents get him one of those. Even the super poseable are pretty cool! Reminded me of my neighbor's kid. My neighbor doesn't even say hi when he sees me and looked at me funny when I said hi to him. But his kid one day came over to my garage when I was working on my car. He saw all the MG Gundams and some Eva model kits boxes piled up on the shelves and right away, he asked if he can have them. And this was the first time this kid talked to me. He then saw my razor scooter in the garage and ask me if he can have that too. He might as well ask me to give him my $18000 car! LOL. Didn't give him anything of course, except a short ride on my scooter. On the other hand, one of my co-worker's 10 year old son often came to work with her when he was off school. He liked to hang out with me and ask me questions of Final Fantasy, anime, toys, Gundams, Dragonballs...etc. (This is before they aired anything on cartoon network). He asked me a lot of things, and asked me to show him stuff sometimes, but he never asked me if he could keep them. In that case, I voluntarily drove him to local Japanese toy stores that no one he knew had heard of, and even bought him a 8" Bandai God Gundam action figure to brag about in front of his peers, when Gundam was still an unknown series to the U.S. kids. Now THAT makes me feel good about giving away stuff, yet help make a nice kid happy at the same time. I guess more and more parents failed to teach kids manners, as they are just as bad themselves if not worse. As for those parents giving lame excuses if their kids raid my place and break my toys, I would literally yell at them to GET OUT OF MY HOUSE. Yes, the parents included. I don't care if its my aunt or what not. If you don't respect me, I wouldn't need to respect you. If they sincerely apologize, then thats a different story. "You are too old to play with your toys anyway...". "What kind of parents ARE YOU?!....Now get out. NOW!!!" would be my reply.

Man, I didn't even have a clue what AMDrivers were until I read this thread a couple days ago, and now I have to order at least one of these bad boys. Looks really cool and fun to play with. But I'll refrain from getting any heavy armor sets as it seemed like the character's joints are not strong enough to support them, base on the posts I read from ToyboxDX. Its a shame to have flaws like this, especially thats where the toy line is supposed to shine. Hope Konami will fix/improve that on the Neo AMDrivers coming out in a couple months. They do look like they have new sculpt even on the base figure parts, so hopefully they'll tighten the joints with better design. The Neo red dude got me. Preorder on its way!

Looks pretty gorey to me. People being decapitated, limbs & torsos flying off, people being killed for fun... Watched up to the 3rd episodes. I think the animation is excellent, especially compared to all the other Getter series. Smooth, dynamic, and dramatic. The character design is very close to Ken's(forgot his last name) manga style, while the personalities of the characters are wilder than ever. Interesting to see how this series will turn into towards the end.
-
Yeah! Shaka does have 2 faces! But I have to say the open eye face doesn't look too hot though. Hope the final product looks better.
-
Doesn't worth it IMHO. Not even close. We are talking about mostly old videogame hardware that doesn't worth much nowadays, not some vintage gokin toys that has a huge collector market. There are some very rare pieces, which is very impressive. But if I have $100,000 to spend, I'll go for a down payment on a house, and be very content with the PS2, GBA, SNES, NES...I already own. Interesting auction nonetheless.

I think its basically too big of a project to be localized that doesn't guarantee much profit. Licensing, very long scripts, tons of voice overs, 2D...etc. Since even the much simpler gameboy versions were never translated either, I think Banpresto just didn't think its worth the effort to enter uncharted waters, especially when the process can get very complicated.
-
It is a strategy game that plays very similar with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, but with a lot more stats, upgrades, 2D eye candy, and tons and tons of anime goodness. Those scenes in the trailer shows the attack sequences after you move your unit on the gridded map & attacks an enemy unit. It is an awesome game But do need quite a bit knowledge of Japanese & Kanji to fully enjoy the fun, as it heavily rely on dialogues between characters for story telling, and has tons of menus to go through.

Its kind of strange that the faces always comes with a number of different versions before the final release. In Figure Oh's pics, the upper left big pic has Camus looking very cool, but have "kind" looking eyes. Then the face in the close up here showing the hair piece looks kind of weird with angry eyes. The pics shown in Tamashi Website has a slightly different looking face. Also, the faces shown on the box cover in previous figure releases is always different from the actual figure. Wonder what Bandai is trying to do here, especially when the final products' face sculpts is not necessary improved in most case...

Shaka looks pretty good, but the head looks like it need some work. The helmet causes the head to look big again, and Shaka looks sleepy rather than menacing. But still pretty good overall, especially for a half finished proto. I especially like the hair flaring out wide at the back. Really hope it comes with a head with eyes open as well. Cool Pics!
