Best Anime Fights (by Category) Part 1
mpchi replied to khyronic's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Go check out Karas. You might change your mind on quite a few of the listed categories. Maybe not the girl fights or old dudes. -
Not sure if your math is right on, but you sure made a valid point. There would be far more descendants than what one would think. Like thousands of them. LOL I do find the movie to be pretty decent, while I have not read the book. I don't find it boring or hard to follow. But it does feel like the characters didn't need much time to figure things out right away. Also, some points of the controversy seems interesting, but other times just seem too forced that even made a lot of the audience around me in the theatre laughed, when they are not supposed to. At times, it seems they tried too hard to make the point that everything you read from bible or history books is a big cover-up. Almost feel like watching Megazone 23 Part 1, without the Garland and the Sci-fi elements LOL. While not the best thriller or suspense movie I've seen, its entertaining.

Thats Shibiru from Macross 7.

Just bumped into this one on youtube.com, with the theme song 'Skill', and edited very well together. Pretty cool for those that might like these stuff, but never have the time or a Japanese PS2 to play these games. This particular one is from Super Robot Wars Alpha 3 that came out last year. Enjoy. Even with some Macross actions to boot!

Can't tell you from personally experience since I don't have one. But from what I've heard, its not very good. Trouble to keep the armor stay on especially the pieces on the hip and groin. The GBP for the 1/48 is awesome though, if budget allows. Its really heavy for the 1/48, making it harder to balance. But it has so much inner details and with all the removable missiles(though some a bit loose), while all the parts fit on to the 1/48 very nicely and sturdy.

Just tried to add a tiny bit of super glue to thicken the leg pegs that tend to pop out from the backpack easy in fighter mode. Turned out pretty good. Now I can grip the fighter mode at the intake with no popping. Awesome! Nail polish should work just as well. Just make sure you don't put too much on the peg to make it fatter than it should. Otherwise, the peg would be either too big for the hole, or just too tight that you'll more likely snapping the tiny peg off the leg when pulling the leg peg out of the backpack. Put just a tiny bit and make sure it dries thoroughly before connecting the peg into the backpack hole. Give it a try.

It does work in Macross Plus in terms of getting the viewer in the suspense of trying to find out what really happened between Isamu & Guld. But once its revealed, it made me questioned how thats done. It just seems to me such a shocking event is quite hard to 'forget'. But thanks guys, I'll looking into it when I happen to come across the movie Angel Heart.

That's the best and most accurate description I've read so far regarding the VF-0S's swivel joints. The way some of the people here have described the toy, you'd think it was a big floppy mess, that can't stand by itself or hold any sort of pose, which is simply not correct. Graham 400499 You forget the possibility that you might've been one of the luckier ones. After all QC with yamato is a hit and miss. I have 2 VF-0s with varying degrees of looseness. One of them is a floppy wreck whereas the other one is loose but isn't so bad. It can't do your 2nd picture pose as the bicep joint just falls under the weight of the gunpod. There's no way i could make it hold with one hand. I also can't make a semi-crouch like in your 1st picture either as the knees just swivel off under the battroid's weight at that angle. And in gerwalk mode, needless to say the knees gave way as well. This is just one of the VF-0s i have so i 'm leaving that in fighter mode. The other one is loose but still able to hold the poses you posted so i'm using that one for gerwalk and battroid. So i don't think people here are exagerrating the floppiness. Just that some people are luckier than others. 400519 Agreed. I don't think people are exaggereating in general. All depends on your luck. While one of mine's arm and leg swivel fit the "looser but not too bad" description, the right arm and left leg swivels are bad enough that either the figure can collapse on the leg due to the weight in some pose, or can't held a decent single armed gun firing pose due to the weight of the gunpod. They are all fine now with the help of some dental floss. Its not like people in general are saying the VF-0S is a piece of crap. In fact, its very cool. At least thats what I've heard from most posts. I have been staring at it at work constantly and poses it and transforms it every now and then in the past few days. Loving it, regardless the fixable loose swivels and a few fragile bits. But don't see why we need to get all defensive on Yamato's QC.

If you are not being picky, just use a tiny screw driver of athe size that can just about going through that hole on the gunpod handle tightly. Do some twisting and run it through the hole little by little (pretty much same approach as using a filing tool). Don't overdo it as you may make the hole too big and becomes too loose to hold the gunpod. Works for me. Might save you a few bucks on buying a tool you rarely use. My VF-0S is displayed with the gunpod mounted on the arm as I type right now. Good luck.

My opinion kind of lies in between. While I wouldn't glorify Guld as a heroic figure, I wouldn't see him as a douche bag either. An interesting character that did something terribly wrong, while still has his caring and more human side of him. One thing did bother me all this time though, is how he can blocked off his memory for so long for what he did to Myung, and became all surprised when he got his flashbacks of his wrong doings. I also see the same thing happens to Cloud in FFVII. Is this some sort of common medical syndrome that people can actually forget a traumatic experience just like Guld did? This is one main story elements in the Macross Plus that I find hard to comprehend.

I actually like how Kojima purposely make a point out of it to try to prove that Raiden can be very cool as well, especially when a lot of fans(U.S. fans) disliked Raiden. While a bit disappointed not playing Snake whole way through in MGS2, it didn't make me dislike Raiden. He may not be the coolest character in MGS series (Frank Jaegar would be on the top of my list), but not too bad. And when I saw the trailer at E3, Raiden really kicked some serious butt, and his ninja suit looks mighty cool. I wouldn't be surprised if you actually play quite a bite of him in MGS4.

I like the 1/48 proportion way better than the 1/60, regardless the details or how the toy was built. But thats just me. Oh, and the 1S looked really good on the with the GBP too in the pics! Too bad I don't have a lot of extra 1/48 to put armors on. Those look great, even the 1A with a No.3 GBP marking. Nice.
-
Wonder if there will be a VF-0D. The 0A is almost a sure thing since its just minor changes on the head and paint job. As I rewatch the OVA, the 0D turns out pretty good looking too, and a bit different fome the 0S. Guess we have to wait patiently.

Man, I am doing the exact same thing. Brought my VF-0S to work after finish applying stickers and displayed it on my desk in fighter mode, right next to the Bandai 1/55 VF-1S Focker. Titled "20 years of toy engineering"

Front is better. Its still somewhat tight, but tow bar is much stronger this time around and doesn't come off. No tools needed to get it out. The rear ones are tougher however. I have trouble especially with one of the legs. Its so tight that I made a dent on my nail tip try lifting it, and still failed. Needed a tiny screw driver instead.
-
Haha . That happened to me too when transforming it the first time. Good that all those pieces were metal, so no stress mark or anything. And like you said, you can just push it back in and it should be fine.
-
Awwww Yeeeeah!!!! It just can't get any better than this. My recent favorite anime show's main character, sculpted by one of my favorite sculptor Kenji Ando, releasing an action figure in one of my favorite toyline S.I.C. (or more likely Movie Realization in this case). This is really really great news wolfx!

Sounds good to me. SHWOOOOOOOOOOOOOSHHHH! BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM!!!

Graham, I think he meant the legs(peg) popping off from the back pack, not the intakes popping. Since you hold at the knee or lower towards the lower legs(where the fast pack sits), its less likely to have the popping. But if you grip it at the intakes(which I do that normally too), those leg pegs pop right off, since there is no hook on that leg peg to lock onto the backpack.
-
Don't think its the loose knee. Mind does exactly the same, even when I fixed my loose swivel (also the knee ratchets are tight). Its just the way its built, with the leg pegs not strong enough to hold onto the backpack. You just need to get used to holding it on the legs (clamping the backpack) more towards the back then the intakes. Maybe thickening the pegs would help, but haven't tried. I also found that without having the gunpod attached in fighter mode, the leg pegs are less likely to pop off. The locks in general on the zero is just less secure. Though last night when I transform it back to fighter mode, the shoulder hinges is a pain to put it all the way in in the middle (so that gunpod doesn't sag and touch the ground). There was barely any room for the square shoulder hinge to go pass the leg metal sway bar (metal doesn't bend like the plastic) and go all the way down. I have to push so hard that I can snap any parts with that force. Now that its in fighter mode, I wonder how hard I need to pull those shoulders back out when I transform it next time.
-
Think its possible to sag overtime, but not likely for something so small and light. Have a bunch of gundam figures, SIC, MaK kubricks all have PVC antanna of some sort. They hold up very well. The much longer & heavier MIA gundam beam sabers on the other hand sags pretty bad.
-
Nose antanna is removable. Just put it away if you worry breaking it. You'll remove it in battroid mode anyway. No worries.
-
Its removable, so just keep it in a tiny ziploc bag to keep from losing this tiny piece when you don't need it. But I really wished Yamato would be considerate enough to make this antanna by PVC or any bendable material rather than hard plastic. All they need is to package it separately to avoid the gashapon disease. It really made this fragile toy seems even more fragile.
-
Wow, thats fast. I'm a bit slower. Probably more like 5 seconds with both hands, but blind folded. Realistically, I can probably do it in 5-10 mins. Not really something I can brag about. Only transform my valks once in a while.

Yeah. Karas is not hard to understand at all. Just that the first time you watch episode 1, you might not remember all the hints and scenes you were being shown for the first time. I think they did that on purpose, to add some suspense to the story. For folks that don't quite get whats going on, just do yourself a favor and rewatch it one more time. The story will become so very clear, now that you know exactly what they are showing in episode 1, after watching up to episode 3 previously. You can even see a lot of stuff they hinted you here and there through out the series. Very very good stuff.
