The new generation 2 revoltechs (starting the white Eva) are all bigger. 14cm tall vs 12cm tall on the older ones. I didn't even realize this until I opened my Eva 01 Type F a couple days ago, at least a head taller than all my older revoltech super robots. Feels more like a normal sized action figure now and hides the ball joints better with the bigger body size, though now they don't match up very well with all the smaller generation 1 ones.

Some comparison pics I found at Toysdaily. Just a couple more days before this awesome dog shows up at my doorsteps. The claw looks a lot more robust, lovely diecast goodness. Hope the real toy is as purple as the pics shown. Looks better purple than blue.

http://www.hlj.com/product/TKT75328 Not sure why, but HLJ actually has the newly released 1/18 Rabidrydog on sale 30% off!!! Got my shipping email notice and found the price significantly low at 11760yen instead of the 16800yen. Better hurry before you miss the boat.

Thanks Graham. Hope you didn't have to tear that page out just for the scanning. Ouch! Turbo custom looks good, even though the legs feel a bit heavy (due to Takara's wider feet & leg proportion). Now to think of it, not sure if I want this one heavily weathered, since DMZ 01 & 04 already have that. May not be a bad idea to have a cleaner dog. Though still like it to have painted decals for sure. Based on the OVA, this version of Turbo Custom is a new complete rebuild unit(s) from scrap parts. So its possible for Takara to give it a fresh paint treatment, just like DMZ-03. Really looking forward to these.

Hmm... I wonder if that means the Votoms anime is coming out very very soon. If its good, I guess I'll buy the region 2 DVDs. Hope the price is not too bad.

Though Masterpiece Prime can't really hold his gun very well either. I bet Takara could make it better if they wanted to. They sure made a lot of the tiny parts in the 1/48 Burglary dog fitting just fine. Its just the matter if they think its worthwhile to yet do another redsign on the 1/18 hands. Looks like I'll have to pick up this particular issue of Dengeki Hobby. Always love to read good coverage on Votoms. The last one was something like the April issue with also a pretty decent number of pages.

The trailer looks good and intriguing. But once I found out that 'zombies' are going to be the catch of the movie (Omega Man trailer), I was less excited about the idea. But given the credit of the novel, which actually inspired the many 'zombie' movies that we saw, I might still go watch this one.

Yeah, I was thinking along that direction, more on the panel lines and details but less on the dirt and mud. Think I might do that.

The diecast feet are a bit shiny. Does stick out a little bit. But I doubted I'll use those feet much since the Burglary dog is what I am gonna display for the most part. Just got done weathering my Chirico Red Shoulder Turbo. With my Reeman Squad and the 2 Ground Fattys all weathered, they look mighty sweet together at the corner of my work desk. Still couldn't decide if I should weather the Burglary dog or not. On one hand, its expensive and higher end, so would be good to keep it new looking. But on the other hand, these little 1/48 does look better with some paint. Tough choice.

Totally! Just put together my 1/48 Burglarydog as well. It is very awesome. No QC issue, other than a couple parts not pre-cut as nice as it should. Though I do found the new gun structure not as solid as the older AG. Love the new way the weapons are mounted. Stay in place nicely. Can't imagine if Takara will end up making it in 1/18 scale. Its still heck of pricey, but it feels good owning this little gem. Now, not sure if I should keep this clean or add weathering to it like my other Sunsa ones.

Final Bronze Seiya (not the Appendix) figure had the issue of the red tummy crack on its own, due to weak plastic and faulty design. The belly will have stress marks from the inside, eventually spread out until you see from outside. It may not totally fall apart, but still a jarring effect regardless. Even the ones that were mint in sealed box has this issue, so has nothing to do with playing it rough. Mine just crack on its own on display. This has been a known issue, and happen to a lot of owners. Shiryu doesn't have this issue. Not sure if any 2nd batch Seiya had this problem fixed.
-
The body is very easy to take apart. All there is is a few screws on the back. You won't break thing...except the Final Seiya. His tummy got busted on its own on display LOL. Though looks like he is the only one that cracks on its own. The problem seems to be addressed on later release.

Haha. LOL

Totally. Its such a waste on a well engineered toy, only to have very sloppy paint all over it. I guess Hasbro really care less, since kids don't care as much about paint job, nor the parents that pay for them. Its the adult collector crowd that gets bothered by it, yet they will shell out the money to buy them regardless. I am really enjoying my Leader Prime. Wish the head is a bit more accurate and has longer antennae though. Again, tailored to the kids crowd.

June 2nd finally came, and I am fortunate to say that the Leader Prime is as good as people said. Kind of fun driving around from store to store hunting for one with a decent paint job (haven't done toy hunt like this locally for a while), and surprisingly, most Targets and Walmarts I visited in the Bay Area don't have a lot of Leader Prime. Mostly just one or two sitting on the shelves, while other movie toys they have a bunch. I already went pretty early in the morning, so not too sure if they just don't have big Prime shipments, or they just ran out of shelf space. And most of the paint job are crap. Luckily, Toys R Us has a lot of it, so I can manage to pick a decent one out of like 10-12 of them there. Guess I was a bit too spoiled by import toys quality. Hasbro is just not quite there... But in terms of the Prime toy, its pretty awesome. Not very pretty looking, but loads of fun. Some very innovative designs on the transforming mechanics (feet, automorph chest, flip out gun...etc.), and the thing is loaded with ratchets. Not all have fancy spring ratchets, but ratchets nonetheless. So Prime is very sturdy in both mode, and transformation is very fun too. Complicated, but not hard. Takes much less time and care compare to transforming MP Megatron. While the aesthetics sacrificed for the sake of playability and durability, the toy still look decent in both modes, and sport some pretty good articulation. Sadly, no waist joint, no wrist joints, and has a swivel only neck joint. But very good movement on others. And since its a cheaper plastic TF, you can have more fun transforming and not worry so much on paint chip. Though not using blue light bulbs for the light effects is weird/cheap, and the sound effect could well be the 'signature transforming sound' instead of what is there. But other than very minor gripes, this thing is very fun. Pretty much the best non MP/BT transformer toy in my collection. In fact, its engineering is quite a bit better than most BT. Fun stuff. And a weird thing about the pricing, Target actually charged $5 more than the MSRP $39.99.

Depends on whose machine we are talking about. But in general, there are very little difference (excluding weapons) other than the side vents on the torso, and the painted Red Shoulder on its right. And of course the chain and extra stuff on the backpack. But if we pick specific machine, like Gregory's, has a 'Strong Bacchus' mask, while the skirt armors have extra tank tread pieces tied to the side and back to give the thing extra armor coverage. Very cool looking. Oh, and while this may not be new news, I just found out that 1/18 Rabidry Dog's claw would be diecast from reading the Dengeki Hobby June issue. Nice! The top 2 'fingers' are supposed to have some action gimmick similar to the arm punch, while the lower 'finger' retracts to expose the hidden gun. All sounds very good.

Looks like there is a new book, the CG they showed for the show is pretty slick. High quality CG models even topping Macross Zero, rather than the cheap Zoids/SRW look. Good news. Also, looks like Bandai's 1/20 sculpt raised the shoulders a tad too high now, as the 3D model's shoulders in the show is not as high as the drawn line art revealed earlier.

In a way, as Bandai's is much cheaper and gear towards modelers. The proportion and the raised shoulders does make it look nice. Not to mention the diecast scope, gun barrels, and etching plates are all nice touches. However, its a bit late in the ball game with just the standard dog, and Takara's is more my cup of tea, a well made toy that I can play and display nicely while still can take it apart if I want to.

Yeah Graham. You are right. It saids clearly in the caption that its The Last Red Shoulder OVA version, meaning very likely no chain and other stuff from Roots of Ambition version. Which makes me wonder if there will be another release (DMZ-06?) for that. But yeah, its possible that this 05 comes with the other weapons that Chirico's buddies used, just to justify the high price. If it comes with enough extra ammo pack, may be I can turn this version into the Roots of Ambition version with just a little work and some nice chain. Seems very doable. Looks like my wallet might bleed some more in October.

I hope you are right, meaning it has those Red Shoulder TC parts that I would love to have as well. With just the normal TC parts, they don't add up to 18880yen. DMZ-01 cost 10000yen, while the RSC parts and Microman like 4800yen. And thats counting 2 micromans, not one. So crossing my fingers on this one.

Just weapon add-ons and the Microman Vanilla figure. http://www.hlj.com/product/TKT77245 On the other hand, the Turbo Custom early bird is up at HLJ. That was quick! Reaching new heights on the DMZ price mark. With that price, it better come with some nifty accessories. Takara sure try to get back into the high end collector market with these high price releases lately.

Well, Yamato did have the upcoming R/C RSTC. Probably a wishful thinking, but really hope the 1/18 comes with some extra chain and ammo boxes to recreate the Roots of Ambition mission pack variation. Would not have enough extra parts to warrant a Weapon Set release, but that version do look mighty cool to not have released. Unless that will be a DMZ-06. But that would suck as I don't think I can afford two Turbo Customs with just minor changes.

EMS from HLJ is very fast. Usually takes 3 days from Japan to California once the package is out of the warehouse. I wouldn't worry about shipping at HLJ. Never had a problem for the past 5-6 years. The only thing is that if you ship SAL, expect to take 3-4 weeks.

Wow, just WOW!. DMZ-05 will be Scoprdog Turbo Custom! However, it doesn't look like its the Red Shoulder version in Roots Ambition with a huge backpack. Its more like the all green version in The Last Red Shoulder.
