He didn't just matt the armor. He coated it with a flat mix of some sort. You can see the color difference by the chest armor missile bays.

Yup got mine like a week ago (on the 13th to be precise). I had to pay the additional shipping fee because it was a larger shipment than A.E. originally anticipated.

I got my VF-25S armored today from anime-export. Unfortunately one of the head lasers were bent right from the box with a slight hairline crack. Luckily, I was able to bend it back with minimal damage. Aside from the obvious head/neck changes... the two pegs on either side of the hips which peg into the body of the fighter mode or for gerwalk mode have been upgraded (?) and by meaning upgraded with the (?) it's not for certain that this would be a great long term addition. Bandai has added a metal pin in the middle of the pegs which is visible (sorry no pics atm, mine is back in its box due to the lack of space in my room). I haven't had the chance to further inspect my Armored VF-25S. ***EDIT*** It just seems like my luck with valks hasn't been that great lately. I am glad to say that Tamashii's exclusive Alto armor pack will be my last product from the DX line in the foreseeable future.

@Graham... I noticed your VF-25G already suffered some scratched paint on the left shoulder by the SMS marking (on the yellow border). I guess Bandai still hasn't improved their paint apps. -=\

Are you referring to the Yellow and Green emblem on the side of the fuselage? If so, then yes they are suppose to be a standard tampo.

I just got back from my vacation at the Bahamas. Haven't been on to follow up with much. I apologize if my previous post was too superficial for your focus of the topic. If that's your take from my previous response then all I can say is that since you've only considered it, why don't you try it on some scape styrene? The Krylon fusion black gloss can and does cover in one coat [edit] without runs [/edit]. You never stated in your original post that was what you were looking for from a can of black spray paint. If you're looking for a really nice finish/cover I could recommend Alclad lacquer, however that would require an airbrush, take a good day or two to fully dry and would require a pretty pristine/dustless environment.

Krylon Fusion Gloss Black is pretty nice. It dries in 15 minutes and fully in one hr. It's pretty cheap for the amount you pay in ratio to Testors, Tamiya or Gunze Sangyo. You can grab a bottle for $5.00 at Sears, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. If you're looking for anything other than a total flat or not completely gloss finish... Krylon also has a Satin finish (not matte) in their Fusion line, but I've never worked with it. I've worked with their Fusion Flat and Fusion Gloss. Both turn out pretty well.

Yea... I was pretty surprised too. However, nothing looks broken, cracked, or overly stressed. I was thinking of taking a razor/exacto to it, along with some nail polish remover/thinned out acetone. I just hope my other one didn't suffer the wraith of the same or similar assembler.

Yea I figured it would have the gap since it originates from the molds. It's not a big, big issue. Mine isn't that loose, however the left bay door is a bit looser than the right when fully extended, due to the gap. ***EDIT*** Or otherwise I would send an email to Overdrive to have them order and send me the better parts. XD

The differences between paint and plastic is acceptable in my books, unlike how Bandai molds their valks in two different types/colors of plastic and different shades of paint.

so your VF-22 doesn't have the gap between the left two pieces?

@MacrossJunkie... Nice work with the panel lines and trick for the stickers. The issue/problem/thing with the bay doors flopping around in battroid mode when fully extended is not a single case. It's a problem which all the VF-22S have. It's due to the way the bay doors were designed/engineered. It seems they weren't designed exactly off the YF-21's doors, but entirely from scratch. they even made the middle screw peg on the left bay door (outer) half about two millimeters too long which causes a slight separation/gap (mine was miraculously glued together by the assemblers). Overall... yes my VF-22's bay doors have the same loose jiggle as yours.

The 22 is actually blue-grey. Definitely not green-grey. ***EDIT*** But I definitely agree that the blue/yellow combination is definitely more appealing to the eyes.

Yea... tell me about it. It's a pretty bad eye sore. -=\ I guess I could put up with it. If anything maybe sometime down the road I'll give it another matt finish. XD
