Ahh yea IPA is high in demand atm. I wanted a resin 3d SLA (or one of the others) printer but also wanted to wait for a larger volume version. There are new ones out there, but still being beta'd. I can't imagine owning a resin 3d printer and not being able to use it during this time because of supply shortage. I was helping out with printing ventilator splitters for the hospitals in NYC just in case the apex topped out and there was an emergency shortage, so I put my potato Anet A8 to work.

Ahaha I know the feeling. I think its cause I'm stuck indoors more now that I find myself shopping for things online to keep myself occupied. I just bought myself a creality3d CR-10 V2 with a BL-Touch sensor to replace my three year old Anet A8. I was eyeing the Prusa MK3S last week but the leadtime went from 5-7 days to 4-5 weeks. I'll wait till next month for that one. XD

I guess I'll find out tonight/tomorrow morning if FJ was able to secure an order for me.

Yea... FJ failed me. I put an order in about 3:15am EST opening night (day in jpn 4:15pm) and found out they cancelled my order yet accepted a friend's order who placed nearly 6+ hrs after mine. I paid as soon as the option was available too. Going to give DJ as try since that's where I have my Nu Funnels.

I can completely see bandai releasing "revised" versions in the future (after they've released one errored ver of each), lol.

Its crack. I even said i didnt want it since i already have the sf soul blue ver. But saw the hlj link and said "ehh why not?" Lol. If anything itll go to one of my friends that wanted it. I know one is trying to secure an order now and the other is prob sleeping, lol. Edit: okay back to dorohedoro... XD

Symmetrical Gundam 00 Quan[T] Metal Build Mod
PsYcHoDyNaMiX replied to Jaustin89's topic in The Workshop!
No problem! Sorry I didn't get more involved earlier. Okay yea thats what I thought regarding the nub, if the outer shell would eventually be cut away. Ahh okay that makes since about the additional feature near the top and the led switch. Yea I can see the issue with the geometry now regarding the radius and the top bar/extension. Yessh. I never ordered from shapeways as of yet, but however I am familiar with their lengthy process. I never read up on their metal printing process. Those variances will definitely be a killer. -
Symmetrical Gundam 00 Quan[T] Metal Build Mod
PsYcHoDyNaMiX replied to Jaustin89's topic in The Workshop!
Okay I printed up the part. The orginal side fits with no problem. The issue with the doubled side is two (maybe three) problems. 1. The distance of the doubled part modeled is too short 2. There's a little nub (feature) on the outside edge that hits the blue backpiece (preventing it from sitting flush) 3. The little indentation (feature) that is on the original side but is missing on the doubled side? It might be needed when the backpack is fitted onto the qant. -
Symmetrical Gundam 00 Quan[T] Metal Build Mod
PsYcHoDyNaMiX replied to Jaustin89's topic in The Workshop!
Okay I tried to fit the part after cleaning it up and the top part of it was a bit too tight (the inner diameter for extrusion 3). I also measured Bandai's metal bracket for the inner and outer diameter, theirs is about 3.65mm Diameter (inner) and 5.40mm D (outter). I believe yours was 3.6mm D (inner) and 2.356mm Radius (4.7mm outer). I adjusted it so the inner is 3.7mm and left the outer the same since the circular extrusion looked to be measured to the outside of the bracket. Currently printing up another one with the slight modifications. I'll post a response after I attempt to test fit. Edit: Okie dokie the 3.7mm Diameter (inner) change seemed to work! Just a hair snug... the unfinished surface is because my printbed was just a wee bit too high to the hot end. Quant Bracket2.00.stlQuant Bracket2.00.ipt -

Symmetrical Gundam 00 Quan[T] Metal Build Mod

Okay I got the file and export it as an .stl. going to give this a few prints with different settings and see how it turns out. Edit: First print about 18 mins (with bed heating); ABS; 0.2mm 60mm/s speed, supports; Now i just need to dig up the mb qant again... lol. -
Symmetrical Gundam 00 Quan[T] Metal Build Mod
PsYcHoDyNaMiX replied to Jaustin89's topic in The Workshop!
I really should've replied to you earlier. I have an Anet A8 (Prusa clone). It's been working well for me on most prints for ABS and great pretty much anything PLA. I do plan on eventually get a better printer (Creality and an SLA of some sort). If you like I could try printing out the part with my Anet A8 and test the fit on my MB Qant. Yea when printing parts through Shapeways there isn't too much of a price difference, just really a wait process. Edit: I guess I could also pull out my MB Qant and (shy of taking it completely apart) cad it up on AD Inventor, XD. -
Symmetrical Gundam 00 Quan[T] Metal Build Mod
PsYcHoDyNaMiX replied to Jaustin89's topic in The Workshop!
Aww damn... sorry to hear. The finish on it looks great and looks pretty close for use too! Edit: Looking at it closer I didn't realize you modeled up the same side. I'm guessing for testing purposes for precision and if it fits you'd flip it symmetrically. Do you have access to a 3d printer? I should've asked after your initial post, but I think I refrained because you stated you ordered the part through shapeways already. -

383! Geezz.. well it seems like the going trend is that once BBTS gets it a premium price like a few days or week later Bluefin makes their announcement. Let's see the next few days.

Thanks, but unfortunately the metal arm is not symmetrical enough to just buy a 2nd qant and reverse the positioning. There's a small metal tab that sits further back (on the bottom) and I'm sure the small detail/pattern isn't repeated on the back side of the metal piece.

@kajnrig: Bandai's version was not a full saber version. Iirc there were two third party makers that made full saber versions. One was Mo Show and the other I couldnt find.

Wow 150 for the qant is a great price! Yea i think the main reason why i didnt do the mod was even if I picked up a 2nd qant and reverse/flip the arm for the shield (and used both left shoulders for symmetry), the metal semi-circular base under the backpack was asymmetrical. Now if i had one of those fancy metal 3d printers then I would've probably attempted it... XD Edit: I guess when I get home I'll see if i can dig it up.

@Jaustin89 I would but mine is already buried... lol. I did look at it extensively (I have access to a 3d printer, cad software, etc.). Iirc it would take an entire rework of the blue plastic housing that the metal arm is connected to and i think it was reinforced by quarter semi metal ring that the base of the metal arm was casted/molded into. It might've been nailed/rivited in as well... lol. So to combine the two would require cutting the blue painted plastic backpack bracket, finding enough room to accommodate the 2nd metal arm. If both metal arms have a semi-circular shape to contour to the qant's backpack (the qant has that gn particle container through its chest and sticks out the back). Or just better off redesigning one from scratch and have it 3d printed. Unless you plan to use the qant's left shoulder for the exia r4. Then this would/might be the opposite.

Received notification from amazonjp that the release of the MB Astray RF Alt Ver is delayed and expect early May. I'm guessing due to delays with manufacturing/distribution from China.
