It looks like I am going to have to beware of overdraft fees! -
Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
miriya replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well I agree that the ankle extensions are too long. That is my biggest complaint with this latest pic of battroid but not a deal breaker for me. You are right about fighter mode but that does not concern me as I am a battroid kinda guy. Although I would display this in fighter with the super parts or armored parts. But still, I think there are improvements on this version over the last one. And there is still two months left so there may be some more zero hour miracles. -
No, I do not have the diecast one. Only the plastic one. It is playable though, but I have found that a little play makes the limited joints even more limited. It is rather sturdy though. I even let my 3 & 1/2 year old play with it last night and no cracks scratches or breaks. I would have liked cockpits with pilots as an extra feature. That and better joints.

Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread

Battroid all the proportion errors still present? Dude! you trippin! Did you look at the pic? I do not want to start a fight here but I demand satisfaction! Just kidding. But seriously, you do not see any improvements looking at this new battroid pic, next to the old ones? I personally see it being severely improved. Thinner legs, hips, thighs, and calves. Better head sculpt with antenae improved. Shorter crotch piece. Better shoulders. EDIT: I personally do see exactly what i would consider to be zero hour miracles. I was going to cancel it because it sucked so bad, but now I think it looks almost perfect. -
Well after a week of having this and not really playing with it much, the poseability is decreasing. His arms are less able to hold the poses that he did last week. they just kinda fall down. However it is still a very cool toy and I am still happy with it.

Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread

Thanks for the new pics. This does look a lot better to me except that it looks like thier "pant cuffs" (so to speak) are too high (nerds!). Other than that, pretty much FTW. I would still prefer a yamato but that will happen eventually (crosses fingers). EDIT: Glad I kept my preorder for Alto. Now I am excited about this again. -
Also they did make 2 Quedluun Rau s already, milia and max, which I love personally. I want them to do the TV green version though.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models
miriya replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Thanks. That is a good point. And I did experience that very thing on the Glaug I just built up. I am going to do a low coverage wash though and stay away from the sprues as much as possible, mainly just for the panel lines. However I am considering just gundam markering the panel lines instead of the wash, which will take more time but will be more precise. HLJ is being really slow though and my sumire grey marker is taking for ever, even just to request payment. Maybe I will shop elsewehre. -
Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models

Im gonna panel line with weathering wash on the sprues and clear coat over that all before cutting from the sprues. But sticker at the end. Does anyone know if it would be stupid to clear coat again over the stickers? -
Thanks you guys. I appreciate the encouragement. I almost can not wait to build my vf-25. I was going to wait for my graham's flag custom gundam snap kit to arrive to get more practice but the box keeps staring at me, begging to be born.

Thanks. That shows the shot I was asking for! Now I really want one of these suckers! Damn!

Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series
miriya replied to BoBe-Patt's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I watched it last night too. It was interesting. It was not as horrible as I thought it would be. I like the humor, epecilally the funny driods. It is smart of them to make a kids show.- 1217 replies

Best way to "invisibly" remove sprue nubs?
miriya replied to David Hingtgen's topic in The Workshop!
Please excuse my ignorance as I may not know what I am talking about, being a noob at this model stuff. But from some stuff I have been reading, one technique is to use a side cutter Like THIS ONE to cut off the sprue, leaving slack, not cutting all the way to the end, and then once the pices is off the tree then cut the rest of the sprue off using the flat end of the side cutter. There is actually a diagram depicting this technique in the VF-25 instructions. I have not tried it yet myself as HLJ has taken over a week to acknoledge my order and is not sending me a payment request. I may just go to my local hobby shop to see if they have one. -
Nice. i have always noticed that. What brand model is it? I never liked the old matchbox toy version from the 80s.
-
same here. So is the extra stuff not on the animego SDFM box set? I like this opening....
-
Thanks. I added the options.

Totally freakin sweet!!!! So what did you use? Please divulge your secrets here so that we can all do this (instead of asking you to do it for us).

I know that this has been discussed over and over and over again on these forums... However with the 1/60 non-transforming Destroids line (which looks great IMO) it seems like more of a possibility that they would make a non-transforming zentraedi line. I personally would love to have a 1/60 Regult with pilot that comes with the accessories to make both missle types and swapable parts to make the scout version. I would also love to have a 1/60 Glaug with kamjin. I would also love for them to make 1/60 Zentraedi soldiers. I would also love for them to make a 1/60 v.2 Quedluun Rau green TV colored version. With awesome articulating pilot of course. The gnerl would be gigantic but still awesome. Vote and discuss.

Thanks bro. The photos make it look better than it does in person but I am still happy with it. It is the 25th anniversary one that was just reissued recently. I actually bought the kit just for the zentraedi decals but then realized that it would be a good kit to practice on. I guess that I did not realize it was 1/100th but thinking about it does make sense because there is no way my 1/72 kamjin would fit in that cockpit! I was actually never a huge fan of the glaug, more of a regult kinda guy really. But after building this kit I have really grown to love the design. I would love it if Yamato would make one in 1/60 scale in the same line as their non-transforming destroids. Maybe I will start an interest thread about that.

PS. the panel lines on the dark bits are done with a light blue gundam marker and rubbing quickly after application. That is not a weathering wash. Although the dark dirt wash is underneath.
-
Thanks. It is really fun. Quite addictive actually. Thanks to David I am using the pro modelers weathering wash dark dirt colored. I applied it to all the parts while they were still on the sprues. First washed with soap and water. Let dry. Brushed on the weathering wash. Let it dry. Rubbed it off (leaving a generous amount for a dirty look), and then clearcoated with Tamiya clear coat spray. Then I cut off the sprues and assembled using superglue. Thanks. I did not want to paint the model so I did what I thought would look decent with the gundam markers. That is a good point. I was thinking to do a mimei guard gluag as I have the decals. I may do that one sometime. It would be the "cultured glaug". Thanks. Yeah, that is a difficult flag. I was born in the UK so it would be appropo. I could give it a mohak and some doc martins with some sex pistols decals!!! The sundowners was inspired by WickedAce's many sundowners schemes that I have been jealous of for so long. I put the clear coat on after the weathering wash and I am going to apply one more clear coat on top of the gundam markers so I guess it is not actually "completed" yet. I want to try the Testors flat coat this time for the final seal to see what kind of effect it will have.

This is the first injection kit that I have completed. It was a learning process. No primer, no paint, just wash, clearcoat, and gundam markers. It is a bandai glaug kit.
