That would look great in my livingroom! Im sold! I was just looking at my collection and wondering where the VF-0D was. Oh yeah, it hasnt been made yet. They had better do so. I bet that it would be very popular. Thank you for calling me crazy. I actually do take it as a compliment. An insult would be to call me normal but nobody has ever dared do that! You are crazy too my macross loving friend!

That would make a very cool and very large diorama! Ill take it. Then we can throw in a couple of VF-0s and some SV-51s in the mix. I will need a seperate room for this but it would earn it's rent Im sure.

Agreed! That really does suck. Now I want the Michael too so I can have the speakers and Ranka chan. I could pose next to my Bretai and Kyron matchbox figs which are close to 1/60 scale IIRC. -

Are there any pics of the 1/60 Michael and Luca Supers in fighter mode? I dont recall seeing them in fighter mode with the super parts. Does anyone know? -
I was thinking about this statement last night while working on my VF-25 model and was thinking that the Yamato valks are a bit like models although a bit more sturdy, yet not as sturdy as a toy (as most toys). However even if they were considered to be models, or especially if they are considered to be models then I would have to say they are underpriced if you consider the amount of time/money it takes to complete a model. Now for me, I have some freelance clients lined up waiting for me to do work for them so when I am working on a model I am not spending that time making money. Sure, the VF-25 cost me about $50 but I am going to spend probably about 9 hours on this puppy which at the lower of my two freelance rates would be the equivalent of $360. Or if I were to commission a model maker to build the model for me it would still cost me well over $150. So when I look at it that way, I am thinking that I am getting a great deal paying $200 for an SV-51 by Yamato or a 1/48 VF-1J Milia with super parts. It is model quality, a bit sturdier and costs me less money/time than a model. But still I wish they cost less money so that I could buy more.

That is a good Point Eugimon. Strangely, I work for a non-profit that does not pay into unemployment so if I lost my job here then I would not be able to collect unemployment. But yeah, the economy is really bad and it is effecting us all.

I wonder if they ever charged me for mine? I have not been able to get any replies from them.

I cancelled mine too. But now I am ready to sell organs to get one or three of these gorgous little mecha tarts!

Just too sexy!!!

Thanks for the heads up. I just youtubed the ending sequence. It was worth watching for sure but I am glad I did not pay another $4 to rent the flick again for that 45 seconds. Very cool. I look forward to where that is going....

Ditto.

I am glad that you asked how we felt because I would love to share my first.... When I got my first 1/48 yamato valk it was a VF-1J Hikaru version. When I bought it I really could not afford it but bought it anyway and did not tell my son's mother who was still living with me so I had it delivered to my workplace which is where the rest of my collection was hiding. So the whole thing was quite naughty and illicit and I felt very dirty about the whole situation. I opened it and was impressed by the size and perfect sculpt. I transformed it once into battroid mode and had it on my desk for a day. But I could not get over the guiltiness feeling and packaged it up and sold it on ebay. . . The problem then was that I had gotten a taste of honey which is worse than none at all and so then I spent hours obssesing here on MacrossWorld until I realized that it was inevitible to just give in. So I bought a 1/48 VF-1S Roy with Stealth FastPacks, and then a VF-0A shin with booster, and then some more 1/60 (v.1) VF-1 like the ostrich and elintseeker and VF-1D, and then a 1/48 VF-1J milia and tons of other macross figures. For some reason the first $150 made me feel guilty and extravegant but the following $$$$ did not bother me much at all. . . Now I just live with a guilty consceince. . . and without my sons mother... which means that I have it all on display at home instead of hidden at work... and another ironic thing is that I could not find a VF-1J hikaru last month when I really wanted to get it again. . . This hobby is addictive and expensive, luxurious and irresponsible but it feels so good. I have often wondered if Kawamori san's design of the VF-1 holds some kind of magical powers. The lure and seduction is irresistable.

That is a damn good solution!

I did not watch past the credits. Is it worth it to rent again for that?

From this angle I like the head even though it does look a bit narrow. I would like to see more angles of it to get a better 3D information. The only gripe I have is that the green visor sensors are too dark for my liking. I would want to make them almost florescent lime green but still have some transparency.

Sorry. I have not read through this thread but... I can say one thing for sure.... I wish the macross collectable figures (Yamato, Bandai, etc...) did not cost so much. A transformer at Toys R Us may cost $10 and be a pretty cool toy but the detail, features and beauty of a 1/48 Yamato valk is at least 10 times cooler and I know that it is not the economic reason, yet it is at least 10 times more money. Economies of scale and demographics of course are probably major factors in the prices. Regardless of the "too expensive (for my wallet)" cost of the Macross collectibles, I am thrilled that there are so many fantastic macross itmes being made. Macross is not mainstream and I am glad that there is even this much and more in the horizon. As a macross fan who's major involvment in macross obsession is figure collecting (for display and play), and who's income is laughable, I do wish that I could afford more of these items. Price has kept me from purchasing dozens upon dozens of figures that I wolud have otherwise (smaller cost) bought. So maybe the questions should be weather the prices are becoming prohibitive for us collectors, enough for it to make an impact on demand? And at what threshold of price lowering would demand hit a significant enough increase to outweigh the lower costs?

The Macross Quarter. DX Chogokin
miriya replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I just realized a MAJOR problem about the Macross Quarter... I will need two of them! I love this design so much in both modes that I will need to have two of them and that is going to kill me financially! It is a hard life being a macross collector! (not really. Just annoying when I cant afford most of these great artworks). And I have come to consider my macross "toy" collection, an art collection. People collect sculptures and it is considered to be sophisticated. But when people see my "toys" often times they dont get it and think it is a waste of time and money and a hobby for children. Only a few have been able to see it as art and appreciate the beauty of it.
