Which version of the SDF-1? matchbox vintage or new 1/5000 DYRL?
miriya replied to Rhapsodyred99's topic in Toys
I have an old matchbox and LOVE IT! However I am also planning to get the new wave one but am not 100% sure. You will be spending about the same amount of money but with the matchbox you get a nice size TV colored one that is slightly crude in its sculpt but still beautiful whereas with the wave one you get a tiny little DYRL colored one that has a gorgeous sculpt. My Matchbox really stands out in my collection display. I do not have the wave one yet but I have a feeling that it would get lost (visually speaking) in the display unless I showcased it especially (room permitted). Also, when I got the matchbox it was mainly because my parents would never get it for me when I was a kid and getting it myself was very fulfilling. Check out scorched earth toys reviews of both. They have nice photos too. EDIT: in terms of battleship mode, I prefer the Matchbox hands down to the wave in terms of looks but in robot mode the wave one does shine! -
Good points there. I tend to agree but I also am guilty of the fanatical pre-order madness. Yamato does not need to charge this much to make these. Especially now that they are a sucessful toy company that has established itself. The cost for them to make the first 1/72 must have been huge and I am sure it was a gamble for them and likewise with the first gen 1/60s. I am guessing but am rather confident in saying that those probably cost them more to make than the vf-0 line which was double in price. What I am saying is that they are most likely charging WAY MORE than they need to in order to make a profit ONLY because we are willing to dish it out (and then complain). Whatever. . .

I think one of these would look terrific in my living room, just opposite my (not mine yet) Murakami 1:1 Valk Girl (second mission project) set. Of course I would need a living room that was about 3 times the size of my current living room but if I could afford all of the above then a bigger room would be no problem. Everything has a price. Just imagine the shipping alone from China for that SDF-1 (or the shipping from Japan for the Murakami SMP trio)! I can dream though.

These are from his site. The first one is Takatoku but also he shows the matchbox compared to the takatoku.

Scorched earth toys review has the best images of them and I am too lazy (and supposed to be working) to take more photos. So check out this link http://anymoon.com/blog/2006/12/17/matchbo...ku-13000-sdf-1/

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
miriya replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I do not know if you are asking me or Scream Man but for me it is the Ostrich, the Elintseeker, the VF-1D and the Milia 1J. EDIT: wouldn't sell. -
I know, I used to have a Jetfire, like in 1985 or something. Then I got a beat up jetfire to customize, have not gotten around to it yet, but that one does not have the fast packs super armor. I did get a Bandai reissue 1/55 VF-1A CF which I love a lot and would love to have super parts for it but I have not gotten a proper VF-1 Super yet! I am so behind. I did get the 1980s matchbox SDF-1 though and that kicks ass (although not as much as the Takatoku version which costs massive a$$).

Hey solscud007, that is a gorgeous Valk! I am very jealous! Someday I too will have one! Someday....

That is very funny!!!

HOLY FREAKING POO POO BATMAN!!! That almost exactly describes my experiences too. Even the dream! Spooky! EDIT: Minus the MPCs - I went from vintage to Yammies. And I do not have all of the toys that I dreamt about but they do exist now.

I knew that you would like that one MrRyno!

For sure the teeth marks lend themselves to excellent battle wound effects. I am for sure a valkoholik. Unfortunately (?) i have been really (un?)lucky with my yamatos. Even my VF-0A is perfect! I never thought that I would complain about my valks being perfect. Does this mean that I should hope that my Nora has problems? Something just does not jibe with that idea? Now I am confused. I did have that "Crazy" period of wanting almost anything and everything but fortunately(?) I did not have enough money to get it all. I do have to say that after getting my 1/48 Milia last month, I had an uneasy feeling of contentment. I had to browse the forums, yamatos site and HLJ for several hours before I got back the feeling of constantly needing more macross stuff. What a journey!

OK point taken. I am going to edit my posts now. Thanks for the heads up and again, sorry everyone. My mind is a whorrible place!

I got my Rei figure from HLJ and I love it. The second pose I tired was a Rei x Milia scene but the scales did not work and I could not get any poses out of it except for a pose where Rei is pathetically groping Milia. It was not even camera worthy. I am going to get a second Rei so that I can do some Rei on Rei action shots. I will post them. I am going to go for a recreation of my avatar with the two Rei figures.

OK, you are right about that. Now I feel bad. Does it make it better that I am at lest 1 and a half of those things? (leaves it to your imagination). I am not trying to be an ist but it was an analogy for a feeling. Maybe over the top. Sorry everyone.

I know, I feel like a .... at a .......!

Ever since that Yamato advert appeared on the MW forums site I have not been able to spend money on anything except for Yamato macross toys. When I went to write my check for rent I made the mistake of making it out to HLJ. When I went to pay my Car insurance, I unconsiously sent it to Lost and Found Toys. When I went to the supermarket I realized that I was not in the supermarket at all. I was actually in front of my computer buying more Yamato valks from ebay. When I woke up this morning and went to make my breakfast I poured milk all over my 1/60 VT-1 and then after taking that first painful bite, I agonized about cleaning it up. BTW, milk makes for great weathering effects! I have no choice anymore. I have been reprogrammed. I cant stop looking at that yamato ad. I have no choice but to buy buy buy. Someone please help!

Yeah, for sure they are sick, huh? For me, the VF-0 mechs and the VF-25 mechs are on the top 4 mechs for me, actually the top four are really the top one, I cant decide!
-
Oh yeah, well I know a lot of people who did not like the story of Macross Plus! So there! How does that make you feel?! /ImmatureRebuttal> Just kidding!
-
HOLY MOTHER OF SCIENCE! That is a great scheme! Please do that one! That would look great on a VF-0A too but whichever one you put it on, I am sure it will look great! I look forward to seeing it. Just out of curiosity, and I am not in the position to at this moment, but do you offer your customizing services? I am sure that there are some members here that would be happy to have you do a custom for them.

Welcome to the forums Heron!

Hey Ghostkiller, GREAT POSES AND PHOTOS and CUSTOM of course! Your posing and photo skills have developed greatly over the past month or so when you first started posting your custom flaker scheme. Good work! I have to say, I really want a flanker scheme SV-51, be it dobber or ghostkiller or yamato's yet to be revealed dobberkiller flanker scheme. What a great match of color to design! It would be hard to afford another SV-51 (I already bought a Nora - the motherjumper has not arrived yet though - after a month! avoid ebay member jchung! who by the way thinks that macross collectors are rare./rant>) Thanks for the post.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
miriya replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I agree. I am keeping all of my 1/60 vf-1 s. I also have some sort of fetish for die cast. I think it is something to do with my collecting transforming robots in the 1980s when I was a kid, when a lot of them were partially die cast and of course the original takatoku and Bandai valks. I will get some of the new 1/60 to pose in battroid too. -
Yeah, me too. I love Macross Zero. It is a great OVA. One of my favorites in the Macross universe. I love the design, the mecha, the characters, the story, everything. Just fantastic. 1/1 low vis lurker, DYRL is absolutely fabulous too! That is the classic! I love it so much I just cant stop watching it. I get so excited when people say they are going to watch it for the first time. I can think of a good analogy but there are underage people watching this site so I had better not! You have a dirty mind, everyone! I should be ashamed of you!
