You know I am a freak! Just wait until the MW convention and after a few pints of Tequila in me! Then you will see the real freak! But anyway, I just hope that I can get Milia's face right. The hikaru is easy because all you have to do is get his killer bangs and sideburn bits and then throw in some eyes, nose and mouth lines. For milia, she needs to look sexy. That will be a challenge.

That would be great! Then we could print our own stickers. Soooooo..... Anyone here with a stickersheet please do scan it well in high resolution and post here before getting trigger happy and applying them please. Thanks.

That really freaking sucks! They should really all just come with stickers! Really F***** stupid! Making the stickers exclusive? That is just retarded!

Update on the project... I have soaked Han Solo in Pine sol for 2 weeks and the paint is still just barely coming off. It would have taken me much less time and energy to just sand him down from the beginning. Maybe it is the paint they used for this toy. Probably automotive strength lacquer enamel with depleted uranium. Also, his insides got filled with pinesol which made him impossible to take apart. (I know, I should have taken him apart first!). I am such a noob! Anyway, , , So the stormtrooper is getting primer coats. I did sand one portion of his torso and it was very exhausting (for a lazy ass like me). I just decided to see what happens if I just spray a primer coat on top of his current paint job. Well, I did screw up by not washing him first with soap as some of the paint did some beading. Second or third coat of primer will hopefully correct this or I may sand and then coat again. By the way these motherjumpers are hard as hell to take apart. The torso needs to be cracked in two and they use some sort of nasa grade adhesive inside to hold the two torso halves together. With a thick exacto blade and a flat head screwdriver it can be cracked open but damage was inevitable. Next step for me is to dry out han and then lightly sand him before primer coating. Then finish priming the storm trooper. Then masking and painting. I have decided to do instead of Hikaru in SDFM flightsuit, to do Milia in SDFM flightsuit (for practice) and then the Milia in DYRL Meltraendi flightsuit. I will post my progress here.

Funny! Well it ought to huh? It is ironic how the dreadful catastrophes that we worry about rarely kill us and it is the cozy, comforting or otherwise normal stuff that is often the cause of death. I will tell you though that after that 1/2 pound bacon cheese burger I had the other night I was terrified! I could feel my arteries clogging all night long!

And the silly thing is that I am more likely to have a lethal car accident or heart attack or choke on my food and die before being killed by a interstellar phenomena like this or 2012.

Almost as strange is this story about the US military's new "RAY GUN" http://60minutes.yahoo.com/segment/145/the_ray_gun

I just realized that I spelled "Death" incorrectly in the title! What a dim wit I am!

Well, I am new to the hobby (model, not toy - been doing toys since I was in diapers) and maybe a bit too naive. I actually just tried to apply some tamiya primer coat to my mighty muggs stormtrooper in getting it ready to customize into a milia meltraendi flightsuit custom and even just applying the primer coat I seriously F***** up and got dripps all around! I think I was too impatient thinking, "that really is not covering well enough. I will just spray some more." Instead of thinking about doing several light coats. Now I will have to let it dry, then sand it down and then apply new primer coats. Anyway, I am starting to practice and hopefully by the time the kit arrives I will have learned a bit about how to screw up and not screw up. I have wanted a macross factory since the 1980s when I saw the robotech one in the stores and remember being upset that it was not a toy but a model. Finally I am ready to try the model hobby out as there is so much great stuff available only in model form. I have also been wanting a really good diorama for my yamato 1/48 that I have the Hasegawa 1/48 crew set for. I will give it a shot and hope to do a decent job on it. For now I am just practicing. Once I have completed the kit I will post some pics up here.

Alright! Payment sent! I smell macross factory! Now I need to get all my paints in order!!!

I saw this display for Montana Spray paints in my local art supply store and they had a great selection of colors. They looked pretty good and I was wondering if they would be suitable for model kits or if anyone here has tried them. I wonder how they would compare to Tamiya. Anyone have any experience or heard anything about their paints? The link is http://www.mtncolors.com/s.nl;jsessionid=a...&category=3

Thanks again for this awesome kit! I just PMed you with my (first) order. Look forward to making the kit!

Thanks. but actually I was wondering more about the diorama background than the stand. Turns out that the diorama background is an Ashita M.O.D. model kit base and is available at mecha skunk http://mechaskunk.com/store-stand.htm (Yes, I know it comes up with the bandai action base... just scroll down...) as a non painted kit for a good deal if you ask me. There is a prepainted verion somewhere but I have yet to find someone in US that has that one. Action HQ has some but the shipping is astronomical.

That is looking really bad ass! Great job!

Recasts of 1/100 Armored Factory vehicles - volunteer?
miriya replied to AcroRay's topic in Model kits
I would love to have some in 1/48! Hope that happens some day. -
Thank you so much for adding the 1/48. This actually looks better than I thought it would with this scale. I am definitely in. I just have to figure out exactly how many of each peice I will want. I will try to place my order within a couple of days. Are these going to be limited or is there a deadline? When will you be producing the orders? Thanks again for an awesome project!
-
Ah! I had a feeling that it may be. Nice custom by the way. If you get a chance would it be possible to place a 1/48 fighter in the diorama and take two shots, one from the diagonal side angle that most of your shots are and the second being a birds eye shot? That would help. Thanks.

Thanks for the pics and updates. Very very cool! Is that last photo of a 1/48 in fighter mode?

Solscud007, What is that diorama in the background behind the VF-1D?

Hi there, I am really excited about this project. I am wondering if it would be possible to make an add on accessory to this kit to make it more 1/48 friendly. I know that this is intended for 1/72 - 1/60 scale and that is great, however I am planning to use it with some 1/48 valks that I have been wanting to make a diorama for and I need about 4 more inches of hight on the walls to fit these in battroid mode with the armor on. So what I was thinking was just two extra, non detailed pieces for the back wall and for the side wall that would extend the hight by an extra 4 inches to the walls. Is that something that you could "whip up" so to speak or make as an eventual add on or "conversion kit" ? Or do you think that I could just use some thick styrene sheets cut to the right size to add on myslef? Would that hold? hmmmm.... Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

What a cute nausicaa figurine! Thanks for posting it. I have never seen one like that. Also, thanks for the information about the museum. That is great! I will have to go sometime and bring my son too of course. He loves totoro. -
Thank you for this. I am going to buy some of these parts. I just have to measure things out to figure out how many of each one I want. I will PM you with the order once I figure it out. Thanks.

definitely a slow process!

That is awesome! Thanks for sharing. Being a father is such an incredible thing. It is great to bond with them now when they still think we are great. I have to say that I am not looking forward to when my son is a teenager and will be embarrassed to be seen with me in public and tell me that he hates me. This does not happen with everyone but from what I have seen and heard it is very common. So, yeah, it is so precious to spend quality time and bond while they are still young and pure and still love us. . .
