You became a Macross fan because of ...
miriya replied to Macross007's topic in Movies and TV Series
I used to watch Robotech Religiously when it first aired in the 80s. And out of the three, the Macross Saga won my heart. I still watched the Masters and the New Generation but it was the Macross that I really loved the most. So that is why I voted Robotech.... BUT, it was watching DYRL (some crazy old english dub) that got me interested in Macross and was the catalyst for me to watch the Nippon version of SDFM. And what opened me up to watching Mac+, and Mac0. When it comes right down to the nitty gritty it was Shoji Kawamori's invention/design of the VF-1 that got me into macross. Seeing that VF-1D transform from a Jet Fighter into a Robot, that got me hooked. And of course I was into Transformers mainly becuase of Jetfire. EDIT: By the way, I just have to mention that after watching the original SDFM in Japanese with english subtitles and DYRL too, I was a convert to macross and have for the most part denounced my Robotechism. -
Macross is actually the Japanese Knock off of the American series called "Transformers". Carl Mackek was the designer who invented transforming robots in 1985 for the Transformers company in the USA and some Japanese company called studio nue stole his idea and used it for some thing called macross. It is a very sad story.

Cool! Thank you. Have you bought from them before? Are they a good vendor? I have never seen their site before.

yeah, yeah, me too, me too! -
Yeah, I will post here if I get any news on that. Although this thread may be reaching its limit? Thank you bro. I appreciate your sentiments. It is a very pretty figure and a great sculpt and finish in my opinion. Just not much of a playing toy. I guess I should go to a sex shop for that! Oh, come on. . .

Attack of the clones!!! I just want misa. If you know what I mean! I do personally want an army of Regults (and Regulds) but would always love new sculpts of misa, milia, and other characters from SDFM. I really want a good Misa in Flightsuit. There is one member who did a nice job on scratch building one. He has a site. No time to look it up right now but something like chimera art.

Yeah, it is Revy from black lagoon, Right?

Thank you! That is very helpful. So do the hands have to be destroyed to use the plugs? The attachement I used was flimsy and does not work. It is good that they include that one.

I just got my MH Stick figure. The Joint plug from the Rear Side Cover was not included so I can not attach them to his hips. That is the first thing. I will email LOS and report the problem. Hopefully he will be able to get me two plugs for that. But it is a real drag. So you all have one of these by now and there have been plenty of reviews but just to pitch in on some of my transforming difficulties... Some of the parts were so tight that I could not move them without almost breaking them. The front suspension part was really hard to get off and when I did finally get it off it ended up with stress marks. At almost each step of the way, something came of that was not supposed to come off and things that were supposed to come off wouldnt. I was unable to complete transformation because the plugs for the Rear Side Covers were not included so I can not attach them to his hips. The adapter for the stand, the one that lets you do flying poses, broke immediately and has no traction anyway so it just falls under his weight. If any of you have a Busou Shinki Figure then you can imagine how difficult handling this thing is, just about as painful. Trying to pose one thing makes another thing fall off and so it takes wayyyy too long to get the pose you are trying and then to adjust it, the whole thing is likely to fall apart. However, I am glad that i got this, as long as I can get the plug replacements. The figure looks really cool and I LOVE the flat finish SOOOOOOOO much more than the shiny finish of the CMs. I will probably not be transforming this guy again and since the stand is broken will be very limited in the poses. It does look really cool though. That is my $0.02.....

Oh and I love world music. Everything from traditional Indian Classical music, to all types of African music (including Alla Faka Ture -spelling?), and latin stuff from Flamingo to Cuban and Andean. I absolutely love the Asian underground; Talvin Singh, Karsh Kale, State of Bengal, DJ Cheb I Sabha, etc... Nusrat fateh Ali Khan is probably the most amazing male vocalist ever to live. I had the great fortune to see him live before he passed and was probably the #1 concert of my life (Tied with Bjork). Asha Bholse is incredible. I am not too keen on the Bollywood stuff but her album with Ali Akbar Khan, "Legacy" is absolutely gorgeous and her cameo in "One Giant Leap" is awesome! Also, I dig on the Gyuto Monks of Tibet, with that low sub bass throat chanting. And I love the higher pitched overtone harmonics of the Tuvan stlye throat chanting. Yeah, so world music of course too.
