Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models
miriya replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Valkyriepilot, what is the modeling cement and what is the technique for sealing bad seams? Are there any brands/links for the purchase of the right product that you would reccomend and any links for how-to on the seam filling? Thanks. -

Thanks again. I actually did just order that first kit. Good thing I got the action base with it. Thanks for the advice on the tools. I got some of that stuff already. -

Oh, that is a very cute little monster! Only $3 too! The Glaug I am not painting. Panel lining and gundam markering for now. I acutally may just paint the windsheild and maybe even try to repair the seam that goes right down the middle of it! I am considering putting minmei guard decals on it too. Not sure yet. -

Thanks for the reccomendation. I looked at all the kits on that list (long list) and narrowed to these four (that i like best aesthetically): http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN952243 http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN951921 http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN948833 http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN934107 Only one is from HGUC but I like the first one best and may get that one to practice on and because I like the design. Reminds me of Ivanov from mac0.... Thanks for the reassurance. It is appreciated. -
That is really nice. Great sculpt and proportions. I am surprised that I have never seen that before. I would not be able to justify $1,000 - $2,000 for one though. I am sure that others would however.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models

Thank you WM Cheng. I appreciate your comment because the glaug is a bit of a pain. I have already applied the weathering wash and a clear coat on the sprues (turned out decent looking) and began putting the kit together last night. Right about what you said. Also the glaug is not a snap kit and I have discovered the ugliness of bad superglue applications. I will continue with this practice model and will post the terrifyingly ugly results on the boards. But thank you because it is refreshing to know that the messiah will be a better kit. -

Kawamori has owned my life ever since I saw the firs episode of (cringes) Robotech:the macross saga and I saw that VF-1D transform into a robot. -
Yeah, good points. I think the sculpt is nice but the pose does not particularly strike me. I would like the figure but I have my wallet stretched wayyy too thin right now. There are too many great figures available and too many more on the horizon. I still hope they do some more frontier characters though....

Thats it! I am renewing my UK passport! The picture of me at 6 weeks old does not reveal much of my present appearance. My parents are both from USA but I was born in the UK and lived there for the first 4 years of my life. I have been thinking to go back for political, and economic reasons but this... this seals the deal! Vintage Treads and Valks for so cheap?! That is a great reason for emigrating! -

That is a great sculpt! I love the proportions. My wallet is screaming in terror!!! After watching episode 24 of frontier though all I can think about is that new white and gray NUNS VF-171 battroid!!! I sure hope they will make that one too. -
I want to do a reggae version of this. Does anyone have the chord chart?
-
I am having itchy trigger finger on this. Does anyone know how tall she will be? 1/8 is the scale but since she is short does that mean she will be like 4 inches tall? I want to support this so they will make other macross frontier figures but not sure about the price. Who is getting this?

Do you have the shrapnel from the tread blast? I bet the pieces would be worth something. -

I have only completed one model in my life and am generally scared of the hobby (and enamored). But I have gotten some kits lately as there are so many great kits out there. But this one is so nice I figure that I just have to try it even if it will take an eon for me to complete. I have started by practicing on a bandai glaug kit, which is much more simple, just so that I have a tiny bit of practice before starting this one. But for those of you who are not model builders but rather toy collectors, this one is a snap kit and does come with stickers and can be built without, sanding, priming, masking, painting, decaling, and coating. Of course it will look better if it is done like that but those of us that are noob can still probably get away with this kit. I would like to encourage others to try. I am going to try at least. The most major issue for me though is time. And that is major because I work full time job, and freelance on top of that and take care of my toddler son half the week so time is like pure gold. And time away from freelance work is money lost. BUT STILL I will spend the 5 -8 hours that it may take me to build this because it is such a good sculpt and I love the mecha. Of course I would have rather spent $200 for a toy version, which would have "cost" less in terms of time spent building the model, but so far the DX does not cut it for me (I am a battroid lover) and I am impatient. That is my spam/contribution for now. -
We are all here because we love Macross. I would guess that most of us, myself included, are obsessed with macross and inspired with macross, the series, the characters, the mecha, the toys, models, customs, the art and Shoji Kawamori, etc. . . Many of us who are "overly enthusiastic" fans spend a large portion of our lives reading, looking, and commenting on macrossworld even in risky situations where our job or our relationship may be at stake. I have never intentionally spammed but sometimes I get really excited and speak my mind quite a bit here (maybe too much for some people's taste). It makes me sad to think that Ryan's positive influence here including substantial contributions like custom WIP threads, great sales, photo poses, as well as his positive way (I have also never seen him be personally venemous), and his good sense of humor, all be overlooked and disregarded. I personally like Ryan and like to have a little bit of comic relief during my work day, getting a little off topic with him here. I consider him a friend but I have never met him in person. However I also understand the critisms that people have. <insert "opinions" joke here> Anyway, I am sure that my vote does not mean much, but I vote to get him back at some point. EDIT: (for additions)... This whole situation also is making me feel like my posts are not welcome and for the last week I have been more hesitant to post my thoughts thinking that they will be hated and considered spamming. It is probably all in my mind but from my side I feel a bit unwelcome, self-consious, and outcast. And I am not even the one being banned but I have a feeling that I am included in that group of people that "followed Ryan and spammed too". (I know, "Get over it dude! and be a man! you little wuss!" is probably the appropriate response to my comment). Anyway, I probably spend too much time on this forum anyway. But yeah, I feel like now I have to walk on eggshells.

Thanks for the pics again Graham. I am liking the sculpt on this. I think they have done a great job and I will be picking up at least a few of these. So IMO, the 1/100 and the 1/72 are on and the 1/60 is still looking off. oh well, cant win them all. Definitley an exciting time to collect macross figures. -
