Oh... THAT photo... It's got me wondering though, all this while the show runners have been saying that Jon snow is dead and dead is dead.... After seeing that shot, perhaps what they were trying to say is that

So the -Generations series will be collector-focused, while the RiD/main AOE line will be kiddie-focused: http://www.bwtf.com/events/toyfair-2014 It's an interesting read! The designs actually look quite decent. And Voyager Grimlock seems like the one to get. The samurai-theme looks good on Grimmy and the other bots!

Yeah, and I think the serial numbers are giveaway clues too: DWG227 -> Ho 227 DDG110 -> Bf 110 DWG262 -> Me 262 DWG109 -> Bf 109 DMB87 "Snooka"-> Ju 87 "Stuka" DBG88 -> Ju 88 Can't place the FWG97 torpedo bomber though... Gotta wait a few more days for mine, getting the GAMILLAS book due end of the month too

Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim'
the_foul_fowl replied to fifbeat's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Thought this would be of interest. The US BluRay is releasing 15 Oct, the Japanese version is only due for release in Dec.... BUT, it's got both English and Japanese tracks, AND English and Japanese subs! http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00F3WXFIE/ref=pe_309492_158123612_pd_re_dt_dt1 Language: 英語, 日本語 Subtitles: 日本語, 英語 Region: All Regions- 1206 replies

Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim'
the_foul_fowl replied to fifbeat's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just watched this today. Really awesome film, it hit all the right notes if you're a anime fan! Props to the art and visual fx department! The angles really gave it a great sense of scale too. I could see this having an anime adaptation really easily. Saw in it regular 2D, but it seems like 3D IMAX is the way to go. Wish I had read the posts here before watching, but didn't want to spoil myself just in case. Oh, and this: Apparently yes, according to Kotaku: http://kotaku.com/pacific-rims-most-emotional-line-was-left-untranslated-789403352 That sounds really awesome. Unfortunately, in my theatre, it was dubbed over, so it looked really weird and out of sync, and totally lost its intended effect. This is a must-buy Blu Ray for me, whatever special edition gets released. I do hope the line above doesn't get dubbed over.. and would it be too hard to wish for a Japanese track too?- 1206 replies

VF-1J from Macross the First?

I recently caught the Rurounin Kenshin live action movie, found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable action flick. I know the anime has been around for quite a while and is really popular, but I've never watched the anime before, so I commenting on this purely on the film. Great fight scenes, minimal use of CG, liked it enough to get it on BluRay if its ever released. Fully recommend to all fans of the genre, found it to be more entertaining than 13 Samurai! Wow! (re)Buy! The MG ver 1 was good for its time, but against the newer releases it looked kinda lacking in detail. Ver2 is great! Also, I just noticed the announcement of a HG Perfect Strike... MG Perfect Strike would make sense too. Was never a fan of the Nu Gundam, but that ver Ka looks amazing...

MG? To be honest, I'm expecting Bandai to release a ver2 of the Aile Striker. Given that all the other GAT models have been released, it should be straightforward for Bandai to make use of exisiting parts, particularly from the Duel Gundam! I've got both MG Aile Strike and Freedom, itching to build them but can't shake off the feeling that the moment I start, Bandai will announce a ver2 Aile or Freedom. Just look at the detail in the Metal Build freedom vs the MG Freedom!

I'm in Tokyo for the weekend, went down to Mandarake Akihabara and scored an unopened VF-171EX for 15k yen and an "opened" YF-29 for 20k yen. Double yay! I'm finally up to date (but very much poorer)! What's interesting was Mandarake's prices for the renewal VF-25. Alto ver unopened: 27-28k jpy Ozma ver unopened: 31k jpy YF-29 unopened 21k jpy. VF-171EX unopened 15k jpy When you consider the RRP for the Alto and Ozma, the markup is incredible, and should be pretty indicative of the secondary mkt demand for these pieces compared to the YF-29 and VF-171EX!

I've never owned a physical copy of macross tv before, really tempted to spring for this set. The deal breaker between regular and complete ed for me would be the Perfect Memory book... any comments on it?

How Does Shoji Kawamori Rate As A Mecha Designer?
the_foul_fowl replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
Kawamori also designed the GP-01 from Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory, though personally I'm not that fond of the design. The Core Fighter is one of the better looking ones though. -
Awesome! Can't wait! By the way, that Engrish on the box is amazing...

Good news From Martin's own blog: http://grrm.livejournal.com/ I have an inkling the 10th episode of Season 3 will be titled "The Rains of Castamere"... If you haven't read A Storm of Swords, don't spoil yourself! Also, from tv co-creader Weiss http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/game-of-thrones-renewed-season-3-306981 There's a lot of material in A Storm of Swords, so Seasons 3/4 then. Seasons 5/6 should be the folded Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons, but reshuffled so that the events are in chronological order rather than keeping with the books. All this means that Martin needs to finish the sixth book A Winds of Winter in at most 4 years, and the final book A Dream of Spring shortly after if the momentum of one tv season a year is kept...

Back in the day, Bandai used to make 1/100 kit versions in their EX series. dalong is my goto place: Comparing it to a mg gundam, using the cig pack An mg gundam is about 12-15cm tall. Using the cig pack, looks like the 1/100 Mave is gonna be around 10-12cm long. I'm mixed about this. While I love how it looks, and the size is larger than expected, the best price of 10000 yen exc shipping is a huge amount of money. Sorely tempted though!

So sold on this. I really love how the vf171 looks like a sleeker version of the vf17d. Will def get upgrade parts for this, and a cf version as well if ever realised. Hope there are enough to go round this time!

Actually, to tell the truth, I always felt the PGs were easier to build, and you'd prob even need less panel lining since the panels really are separate pieces. Anyways, dalong.net is my go-to site for gunpla builds. What's really nice about that site is that they usually show pics of the built up kits as-is without panel-lining or any touchup. Just saw this at a local dept store: http://gundamguy.blogspot.com/2011/12/system-base-001-review-by-gundam-guy.html Looks good, and would prob fit Bandai's 1/100 valks in battroid mode pretty well too.

Hear hear! A stand with that 30th anniversary logo (kinda like the Fire Bomber one for the Bandai VF-19Kai) but in color would be awesome... Still I think the most important thing right now is to keep the price reasonable. I'd rather have the additional parts released separately than including everything with the box and jacking up the price.

Ah... thanks for the explanations guys. Somehow I keep on thinking that M0 occurred before the SDF crash landed. Prob due to the fact that my earliest exposure to Macross was Robotech
-
Great news! Though given how the GA variable fighter master file books have always been delayed I doubt it'll be released as per schedule in feb. A thought came to me the other day. Wasn't it the discovery of the SDF1 and overtech that enabled variable fighter tech? And wasn't the need for battroid primarily to counter the large humanoid zentrans? Was there ever any explanation of how the vf0 and sv51 were possible before the discovery of overtech? And battroid mode?

Max's new ride lol I like to add real-world items to my display to give a better sense of scale. Pleasantly surprised to find out that Tomica has some 1/60 cars, picked this up cos I thought the blue stripes would go with Max. Quite happy that Max figure actually looks like it could go in the car. PS Never knew that VF-1 had that high a wing clearance!
