High Definition Media & Technology Thread

Just noticed American Werewolf in London was on HD. I'm going to have to flag that for clearance too. Anyone have that and can comment? Edit: Geez, and The Thing. Guess there's more to keep an eye on than I thought. -

I'm circling for the Matrix set myself. There might be some others I'll pick up if the clearance price is cheap enough. -
When I bought mine at the end of spring last year, it was in a set off ebay with what I assume was the entire Robocop wave: ED-209, mini Robocop w/destroyed ED-209 legs, Cain MK2, Robocop, Robocop 3(w/jetpack). I think I paid close to $50 for the entire set, that includes a shipping amount. (Edit: I was wrong, there was another figure in the Robocop wave, a Robocop mini "bust".) At the time, I couldn't find it anywhere else online, but I also didn't really ask around either. I just know I wanted it for the ED-209 and Cain. I felt it was worth it. It's about the size I wanted and with a high level of detail. Taking a quick look at ebay, looks like they're selling them for $12 a piece, but I'm not seeing Ed or Cain though, just the low demand items. I did see this though, which was something I almost picked up before finding out about the kotobukiyas. It's the Mez-Itz 3 pack set of Robocop, Lewis and ED-209. Despite the figures being super deformed, Ed still manages to look very nice.

Shocker Toys Pre-Toy Fair sneak images

Am I the only one here excited about the Metalocalypse figures? So metal. So very metal. And brutal. -
Can anyone post some pictures of this issue? Please?

Be ethical and try to fix each item or salvage parts from one to fix another and then throw out the broken carcuses? I'm sure that's what'll happen......

Excellent job on the custom! I've always loved the CAIN MKII design and thought it was underappreciated. I think part of the reason is that it's a complicated design that's undershown in the movie, and when it is shown, it's too kinetic for stop-motion for all the cool details to sink in for the viewer. Contrast that to ED-209's relatively simple design, and even Robo's. I love the kotobukiya Robocop line. It's something I found out existed entirely by happenstance in a transformer picture thread on the Allspark. When the set arrived, I was pretty sure that Cain's outer arms also rotated, since most of the other figures had such joints, and those joints took a little pressure to unstiffen. Heh, so as you can see below, I accidentally pulled Cain's left arm off. Fortunately for me, it popped off the way it was glued on, so I could reconnect the arm peg either to default mode or to something similar to what you did with your custom(which was the exact pose I really wanted him to do too. ). I'd love to see this design in a larger, solid plastic figure. I'd also like to see ED-209 in some type of mid-scale. That HT one that's out is just way too large for my needs, but still a fantastic looking figure.

Classics Cyclonus perhaps?

The targetmaster gimmick never sold me on the set. The gun modes never looked enough like guns to me. I think part of my problem with the set is the same problem I have with the G1 Terrorcons. Apart from the leader, the robot modes look like an afterthought.

I've never really understood the fascination with the mold. Maybe its because its one of the more rare gestalts. I really have no idea, but I do know the fandom's been begging for it for as long as I've been a part of it. At least they did a decent job on the deco. Still not for me though. Octane looks MUCH better in colors. It's kind of funny that the other mode is essentially turn it upside down and turn it around, much like Astrotrain. It works for me, regardless. Btw, I wish TakaraTomy would hurry up and confirm anime-accurate Astrotrain. Prowl's looking a LOT like the animation model. And that's probably the best Onslaught pic I've seen so far, does a really good job of selling the idea.

More pics of movie-accurate leader Prime in box. http://tformers.com/transformers-look-at-m.../8955/news.html Looking much better. I really like the silver. I'll probably get this and ebay my normal one.

I said it before, and I'll say it again, that Sunstreaker looks more like a 1:32 Roadbot than it does Sunstreaker. I tried to find a better comparison picture so I could paste it here without worry, but Ben's site has some excellent pictures. Anyway, G1 Sunstreaker and Alternator Sunstreaker side by side: http://www.bwtf.com/alternators/sunstreaker/g1rm.jpg

Ace Combat 6:Skies of Liberation for XBOX360!
Alpha OTS replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Been following some of the chatter on gamefaqs. Someone translated news from a Japanese site. This post in particular was interesting: --------------- "Heh, the mention of Ace of Aces is barely there. Its mostly talking about an auto-update which will greatly enhance the online features. Introducing more penalties for unsporting behaviour and will take into consideration what weapons you use in calculating scores (You use QAAMs, you get less points for each kill). And finally you will be able to tell who the hell is talking! While all these online enhancements will be free, Ace of Aces may yet be separate and cost a few points. Confirmation though that its a off-line single player mode." --------------- For all the complaints I see about QAAMs on gamefaqs, making them score less points for each kill would probably remedy that. I haven't been online battling much in a long long while though. But the biggest best news for online which I hope is true is an indicator letting you know *who* is talking. And weren't we pretty sure already that Ace of Aces was going to be a single player mode anyway? Supposedly this is all coming some time this month. -
Again, I think that if he were in a smaller scale, we probably wouldn't mind as much.

SaveRobotech, awesome pics. I have to ask: first, how did you get an Aoshima with what looks to be good QC, and second, how did you get that same figure to raise it's gun without the arm falling! I really like the look of the CMS and the scale next to the Toynami. Just to refresh, this is the smallest scale ride armor coming out, right? I have trouble picturing it smaller, but you never know.

Just got an email that BBTS got their shipment in. If my ebay auctions sell for as much as I'm hoping, I'll probably put in an order.

Looking at PowerGlide so far, I'd much prefer it at a smaller scale, not the ultra they have planned. It is nice that they have the signature aesthetics of his G1 design present though. I really need to see Octane in colors so I can better see how well he hides his other modes from his current mode. Prowl and Sunstreaker are what I had hoped/expected. Onslaught still does nothing for me.

I see that a lot for $10 brand new here and there. Is it a ten dollar ride? -
It's not all about for me, but it is most about.

Awesome. And just to remind everyone again about how ecstatic Leonard Nimoy is about this news too! See

Any news on Ace Combat for the ps3? Is it or isn't it coming? -
The new episode was a little formulaic with yet another superhuman, but it was done well. The little touches with the plot were what made it good: ie Megatron's aim to create a new body, and the supersuit's long term effects on the human. I'm sure the kids will love the explanation of where Bumblebee's thrusters came from too.

Ace Combat 6:Skies of Liberation for XBOX360!
Alpha OTS replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
"In an effort to make a few quick bucks, team Namco has plans to release yet another set of semi-overpriced Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation DLC next week." Semi overpriced? SEMI overpriced!? The pricing of the DLC for AC6 is simply obscene.
