I have toys, who said anything about clot-.......LOL True...I am all for Tamashii making a 1/32 DX and calling it a day. THAT would be freaking awesome.
-
You know what? Toynami is already partnered with Tamashii(Bandai), I hope the US market is big enough for them to convince Tamashii to make DX Mospeada toys under the Robotech banner. All Toynami has to do is distribute them, and Aoshima can distribute them under the Mospeada banner in Japan. It can be called MPC Alpha v2.0. Hell I would buy it. Since its Tamashii, certainly the price would be cheaper than CMs, and its good for us because it gives us another option, and variety. In fact, Toynami can delay the Shadow Chronicles MPCs and Betas, if Tamashii makes a Legioss/Tread from scratch, then I can wait!

That is an awesome lego creation. News for SW Transformers fans, the pilots will no longer be included with the toys. This apparently cut costs for Hasbro. To me the pilots were one of the redeeming factors of the toys. Alas, I bought a few months back, to get my Transformers fix, but they don't feel like must-have toys(except Death Star Darth Vader), they are okay, at best, decent. There are so many things that stop them from being great toys. With that said, the Marvel crossovers versions seem to be designed much better. Has anyone picked up the new V-19 Torrent Starfighter? -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development

OH HELL YEA! Very dark gray/purple tint ftw -
If it actually was tough and could take a pounding then I'd be happy, but since it isn't, it doesn't do a thing for me except look nice, but again thats not hard considering it was based on a model kit I hold hope that Toynami fixes up the mold for the MPC Shadow Chronicles toys, but I doubt they will. The Beta looks nice, and I might pick one up, but I'm not counting on my Legioss to survive the connection.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The new 1/60 VF-1 has been reported to be very solid, but there are a few snags with regards to durability, and while a bare minimum, a few breakages. Is Yamato taking the steps necessary to make sure the VF-11 will be just as durable and high in qc like the YF-21? VF-11 is dead sexy, I plan on buying Isamu's. -

I'd love to see Star Saber and a Victory Saber in Universe. Hell we get Blades, Treadbolt, and Drop Shot, no one knows who the hell those guys are, and yet they have toys made. Well okay some fans remember them but not many. Now Star Saber is a jet, headmaster bad ass, swordsman, and looks awesome. Yep I'd buy him even if I didn't know who the hell he was. -
The Toynami/Aoshima MPC looks best but its derived off of a model kit, so if it didn't look good, well something is wrong(the quality of that damn toy is wrong to begin with). With that regard, Toynami did the sculpt right. Something Toynami needs to do, is integrate all the good things from a model/toy that they decide to use as a basis for their own toys. For example, clearly the VF-1 MPC's were based on the chunky monkeys/HCM, but did not have the durability nor the secure connections that the chunkies did. The lack of quality on the Toynami is one of the reasons I like the CMs so much. CMs actually made a toy. I like the artistic license, it not like they made it more kidlike or aimed it at 5 year olds. Certainly much different than the kid-aimed Macross 7 DX toys from 1994. CMs has a better proportioned Armo-soldier mode than the superposeable figure from Toynami. The superposeable has those huge lower legs, and thin arms, and that throws off the appearance for me. CMs went for sleek and slim, Toynami went brutish and chunky, I like both, but wish Toynami and Aoshima at least tried to make their Legioss durable enough to be handled. Looks nice but its fragile, and I usually think toys referred to as fragile really aren't, but in this case, it really is. When a toy is made like that, its no different than buying a prepainted variable resin kit, aside the price. This was touted as the Alpha/Legioss fans have been waiting for, but I am still waiting. I want something I can play with damn it!

Vintage Original Trilogy Collection. These figures were packed in supposedly resealable plastic cases, and vintage cardbacks. Luckily most VOTC figures are repacked into the regular mainline, or will be in next year's line, its inevitable, as previous VOTC figures have ended up in either the mainline or part of multipacks. For example, ESB Luke is an important character, so I have no doubt that eventually we will see it again. Too bad he looked sleepy on the head sculpt. Legacy wave 1 Darth Vader has a 2 piece helmet, revealed in ROTJ, but the helmet is not very secure. What I do, is put the top part on the face part of the helmet first, and then place the helmet on Vader's head. Not sure if any of you are big on Vader being right handed, but his right hand is an open sculpt, so he won't be holding a saber with that hand. Battle Damaged Vader from the Force Unleashed game manages to be hard to find, but one of my favorites. The worst thing about it(aside from weird proportions for his exposed battle damaged parts), is that is helmet does not fit on right, its skewed to the side. Other than that, its a great rendition of Vader, but marred. Most of the original trilogy ones are. The current X-wing is actually a retooled Power FX X-wing. The original Power FX X-wing was hyped up in 97, as being an up to date, completely redesigned X-wing that was much more accurate and better proportioned than the vintage one. The bad thing, was that a unremovable Luke figure was shoved in place for FX noises and a gimmick. In 2002, this mold was retooled, the figure and FX gimmicks were completely removed, enabling figures to be placed into the cockpit(1st Dagobah Luke version, with black engine intakes and excessive battle damage paint). During 2004, the Red Leader version was sold at TRU. In 2006, another Dagobah X-wing was sold, this time with Dagobah training Luke, a much better looking paint job, a Dagobah swamp monster, and PVC swamp vines to place over the X-wing. The retooled X-wing is definitive, light years ahead of the vintage one, and has never been sold in mass market, its always been a TRU exclusive. There is a battle pack coming out that will have rebel ground crew...and I look forward to this so I can display it near my X-wing and have the ground crew look like they are repairing it. The only original trilogy vehicles that have been sold in mass market these past few years have been the original TIE with small wings, and Vader's Advanced TIE, which they were somehow able to shove into a box...that thing is huge for the box. As far as the Y-wing, there is a new one in Clone Wars that does look better to me, its got a more cleaner, less exposed appearance. I hope a toy of that comes out. Despite how dissapointing some of the prequels were, the vehicles are some of the best. The ARC-170 is excellent, that is coming back out as an exclusive with a Wampa painted on the side. The Republic Gunship will come out during the holidays too, each retailer getting a different paint job, Walmart's will have a twilek painted on the side. The episode 3 starfighter is decent, I got a Darth Vader one that looks awesome. The epII starfighter will be getting a new mold later this year, as the delta 2 variant, and apparently when the nose is pulled, the back wings flip up. I haven't seen this in action but am excited for it. -

A battle pack(should be $19.99 msrp), with the other ANH crew aside Han and Chewie will be coming out soon with gear such as the oxygen masks they used in ESB. No prob man, glad I could help! Seriously this year is a great year to get back into the fold, I tried getting back into the line starting in 04, I got into it more last year, and towards the end a lot of the figures were awesome, but this year a lot of stuff is even better. An interesting fact, is that the Millenium Falcon toy was actually supposed to be bigger....but they had to take costs into account. Modular playsets are the way of the future, in my opinion, its the only way retailers will even budge. Crap, you know, speaking of which, I should have listed which vehicles are the best to get for those of you getting back into Star Wars toy collecting! -Darth Vaders Advanced TIE(will be rereleased very soon for $19.99) -Dagobah X-wing(TRU exclusive from 2006-07, might still be available from your local TRU -Dagger Squadron B-Wing(TRU exclusive, just released) -A-Wing(walmart exclusive, coming in November) -TIE Bomber(Target exclusive from last winter) -Y-Wing(TRU exclusive from last winter) -TIE Interceptor(TRU exclusive from last summer) The Y-wing might be retooled from Clone Wars, its rumored to be, but who knows, maybe it will be all new? -

That site is F^Y&U*I(ing awesome. Thanks for the link. Wow, we can relate man! I regretted passing on Star wars figures during the late 90's/early 2000's, which is weird because during my childhood, I kept wishing for Star Wars toys to come back out, and after buying just a few in 97, didn't buy some for years. Now is a GREAT time for you to get back into it, as I did actively last year and while casual, enjoy it. I no longer regret passing on most of the figures from back then as they are barely articulated. The only things I regret passing on are the vehicles, like that one time Toyworks had AT ATs for $15. Articulation has increased exponentially. Some figures even have ball jointed legs, though this isn't much of an improvement in execution(and I did look forward to these figures with a passion). Most figures now include: -ball jointed heads -ball jointed elbows -ball jointed shoulders -ball jointed knees -ball joint/swivel abdominal or waist joint -ball jointed ankles -swivel wrists -hinged hips These are referred to as being super articulated, now there are a few that are slightly more poseable. These figures include wave 1 08 Anakin, Obi wan, Commander Gree, and Legacy Collection wave 2 Armored Obi-Wan Kenobi. Gree even has ball jointed wrists. Most figures of popular characters, and nearly all current clone/storm troopers are super articulated. If not all joints listed above are present, most of them are. Most of the leads do have super articulated figures out. The VOTC versions of Han, Luke, Vader, Boba Fett, and Chewbacca are super articulated. However VOTC Tatooine Luke is disliked by many due to having a cloth tunic. I am an articulation junky so chances are I probably wouldn't give a shi*. It used to be a rare occurrence to see a super articulated figure in the line, but now most figures in each wave are. For example, legacy collection wave 2 has all super articulated figures. The following are the best versions of the leads to me: -VOTC Luke(ESB version) -Legacy collection wave 1 Darth Vader(due to removable 2 piece helmet, though you may like TAC Wave 3 Vader better, but the helmet on that is 1 piece, and has Hayden Christiansen's head as opposed to David Prowse's). -Legacy Collection wave 1 Chewbacca(looks beat up, but I like the differences). -TAC wave 3 Storm Trooper -VOTC Leia -Evolutions Boba Fett A super articulated(hopefully) Obi Wan is coming in early 09. Now the thing about the big ass millenium falcon, is that it already includes super articulated versions of Chewbacca and Han. Han has swivel angled elbows instead of ball jointed ones though. The Falcon is actually bigger completed than in the box, and the box is freaking huge to begin with. Overall the figures of today are far better than the ones from 97, and even better than the ones from 2005, where super articulation was trickled into the ROTS line. I just got Anakin's modified starfighter from Clone Wars, a repackaged version of his same ride from the previous Clone Wars cartoon. This thing is awesome, uses the episode II starfighter as a base, but has a bunch of unique parts that definitely have an Anakin influence. Arguably the best starfighter he has, and definitely the most unique. One hell of an extensive retool. Worst part, is that the figures can barely see from the cockpit, they sit too low. Best part, is that most Anakin figures can fit in easily. -

For all those posting pictures, can you please make sure they are of either the DX 1/60 toys, the 1/100, or Robot Damashii? Its annoying going to this thread, expecting to see new pics, only to find pics of the 1/72 model kit.
-
Thats for the model kit and thats to be expected. Thus far there haven't been new pics of the DX or 1/100 toys in a month or so, hopefully within the next week we will get new stuff to look at.
-
1/60 has a more balanced appearance in each mode, more TV/lineart accurate, sleeker underside in fighter mode, more articulation, more solid construction, but lacks the removable randome to expose the radar and moving flaps.

I just got the TRu exclusive Dagger Sqn B-Wing. I prefer the ROTJ colors, but I like the EU, and I have wanted a B-wing for years(never bought the previous ones), so I have looked forward to this for a long time. This thing is HUGE! Despite being an old mold with new swappable missle launchers/cannons, this is a fun toy to play with, and the gimmicks are impressive. The cockpit that remains upright no matter what directions the wings are facing, the landing gear activation lever, the twisting engine nozzle to turn the wings, and the new super articulated Dagger sqn leader figure are all good reasons to pick this set up. Rugged, and the scale seems appropriate. It also came with TIE kill marks, and I placed all of them over my B-wing cockpit. I wanted mine to look like a starfighter massacre, a destroyer of anything imperial in its way. The paint deco is okay, bland, but not terrible. Not sure if its accurate to the actual sqn colors, but even if it isn't, I can live with it. The B-wing is one of my favorite starfighters(there aren't many fighter bombers fielded by the rebels), and its unique. Its definitely one of the best starfighter toys out there, if this is the exact same thing released in the 80's except for the new cannons, then this thing is one hell of a toy, and kids back then were very lucky. -

That sucks. Me too, red is necessary for Cobra, at least it is for me. The white makes the HISS look boring. I haven't actively looked yet(more or less stumbled upon the remnants of 1 case on the pegs yesterday), but if they are 1 for 1 that is great news, I want the black helmet since it looks better and sets it apart from my wave 5 IG Destro. I got the Storm Shadow/Firefly comic pack this week and I am surprised. The gear for both are excellent. After reading the comic and handling the figure, I still wish the shirt was painted on, but don't mind it. With that said, its a great Storm Shadow figure, except for the fit of the lower legs, they are tricky to move. The prototype had Firefly's head sculpt painted in white with a red cobra symbol, since that is accurate to that costume, but the final production figure has the regular Storm Shadow head with cobra symbol, and I can see why now, as the dividing line down the middle also works to divide the painted cobra symbol. The new swords are a welcome addition, as well as the new set of claws. Firefly is excellent, I like it better than the single packed wave 3 version. This one has better weapons and accessories. I like the comic(which is surprising since I don't like most of the comics in the new comic packs). Most of the gear and weapons that both of the figures come with are used in the comic(except Storm Shadow's claws), even Storm Shadow's uzi. The way Storm Shadow is written is familiar with how Hama wrote him into the solo book from last year, and the Marvel run. He is one of Hama's favorite characters so maybe I shouldn't be surprised. Basically the circles of revenge start coming to a close. I also bought Ninja Ku, so I can have a generic ninja, and, well, he is a Storm Shadow figure.... Picked up a Snow Serpent, not bad, I like how the missle can be attached to the backpack, a bit big though, some of you may like the slimmer, DTC Snow Serpent better. Found General Hawk, who unfortunately suffers from Duke arm. Found the Tripwire vs Cobra Commander comic pack. I love the Crimson Guard mold, and this Cobra Commander uses that, with new accessories like a gun/bandolier/holster/cape/sword and scabbard, and is now my favorite Cobra Commander. The comic it came with was corny though, unfortunately(and vastly different from the Storm Shadow comic pack, so what I said about Storm Shadow being one of Hama's favorites may explain things here). Tripwire turned out quite well, his mines fit snug in his backpack, and range of motion is great since its a retool of the Flash mold. -

For the price, you get a lot of stuff, especially compared to a Revoltech, which you pay $3 more for. Quality is decent, the toy is predominantly comprised of ABS plastic. The main things to worry about are the sockets for the bicep and thigh swivels, as these are prone to cracking. Even if they do crack, the biceps/thighs remain attached but are looser at the swivels. If they do crack, you may not even realize it, as this happened to me. The first 3 releases have ball joint polycaps for the stand, that are prone to cracking. Other than that, the main things that bothered me are that the series 1 versions are significantly looser, for example in gerwalk mode the swing bars for the legs are not secure at all, if you lift it up by the wings, the legs will come down, this is far different from series 2 where everything is significantly tighter. Aesthetically, the backpack is too narrow, which leads to the vertical stabilizers looking too close in fighter mode, but this might just be my tastes. Articulation is great, and unlike most other valkyrie toys, the battroid mode is definitely emphasized, and the best mode to play with. If you are used to revoltechs and the accessories that can be swapped out, you might like the 1/100 valkyries. If anything, they are far more durable alternatives than buying a 1/100 variable model kit(which feature swap transformation, the 1/100 toynami valkyries can be pretty much transformed with no parts removal needed). By all means not perfect but decent. -
Alright so to avoid breaking the ventral fins on the sides of the legs, they need to be pulled out a bit before folding. For removing the swing bar from the nosecone to transform from battroid to fighter, follow the technique shown in Yamato's video, grab the nose, gently push both legs down while holding with one hand, and the bar should be released.

Don't have Silverbolt yet, but Powerglide is the most dissapointing of the new Ultras. The robot mode, though I've said doesn't look as bad as I thought it would, suffers from a huge torso and skinny limbs. His fighter mode could have been close to a spot on A-10 if not for the intakes molded on the sides. The landing gear cannot make the fighter sit up right without modification. Silverbolt has a chunky underside, but it gets away with that by being an homage to the g1 toy, and for not ruining the look of the fighter from the top, unlike Powerglide. Its a lot less obvious than Powerglide, with Powerglide, looking from the top, you can tell, "oh, its that way because if not, the legs would have been even more skinnier in robot mode". The small bad things on Powerglide add up, whereas with Silverbolt, its really just 2 things, the chunky bottom, and transformation that does not incorporate much involved transformation with the alt mode pieces. Onslaught is awesome, just like I thought he would be. Wish he had a rifle though. The sides in vehicle mode attached to the legs are easily dislodged, and his shield is secure in robot mode but easily knocked off in vehicle mode. For robot mode, there is a notch for the tab to fit into, which secures it well on mine. -
If I am not mistaken, Save said the prototype was 1/100 in his reports, and the one shown was definitely smaller than the 1/72 plamo, so I think it will come out, I trust him.
