While I'll agree that they can definitely make it look better, you are comparing a perfect transformation toy to a model kit. The more appropriate comparison would be the 1/100 toy to the 1/72 kit. The larger scale does make everything easier as there is more room to work with, but adding perfect transformation requirements to the mix, as well as making sure the material is durable enough, then dealing with the tolerances of the material, all make it harder for something that is perfect transformation to look better than a parts swapformer. What you are asking for, is very similar to what Toynami did when they based their MPC Alpha off of the 1/48 Aoshima Legioss model, except the size increase. That was a disaster. Designing a toy is much different than designing a model, so I think what Bandai did, starting from scratch on the toy, rather than using their model as a base, was better.

VF-25 1/100 transformable toy thread
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Toys
The only other reason I can think of, is to incorporate the retractable rear landing gear and the swinging doors, unless Kawamori decided to have changes to areas aside the head, which he requested changes on months back. The new 1/100 definitely looks sleek in fighter mode, no visible gear door hinges or gaps, which is good. It may look the best and move the best of the VF-25 toys set for release. It could be toycrack. That would be cool. Depending on range of motion, a Revoltech version might not even be needed. -
VF-25 1/100 transformable toy thread
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Toys
After some thinking and looking at the pics, I think the 1/100 maybe more accurate and articulated than the 1/60. The swap parts provide what might be a cleaner, sleeker look in fighter and gerwalk modes, and the elbows definitely look double jointed. The knees might be as well. There is a thigh twist on the intake. -
I think the nose section and gullet for the VF-19S/F/Kai models are different than the 19A and YF-19 also. Agreed. I'd like to think, maybe Toynami has scrapped their own 1/100 VF-1 line after the next wave of armored releases, and plans to bring over Tamashii's new 1/100 VF-1, and other valkyries instead. That would be a great way to revitalize the 1/100 line. Plus Bandai has to know that the Aoshima Legioss endeavor was a disaster, so I think they would go forth with their own designs, rather than Toynami's. Qrau and Kamujin's mecha FTW. I think he had a Glaug, I forgot the name. This line is perfect for Destroids too. Man..a mecha diorama stand..like the ones for the gundam SHCMpros...oh man...that would kick ass. Thats true but Bandai can do better, and chances are, they probably will. That's what I think too. Though I don't think every valk will cost the same, maybe the bigger ones, like the Macross Zero and Frontier ones, as well as Plus/7 valkyries will be the price listed, however I cannot see the VF-1 costing as much, as its smaller, unless the full arsenal of weaponry and a display stand is included. I think bandai is steadily straying away from PVC as a dominant component for parts. This is evidenced by the ratio of ABS to PVC and POM used in their upcoming Robot Damashii line, in fact, I think that line was made from scratch so that Bandai could start anew and distance themselves from predominantly PVC figures. As some of you know, Robot Damashii is taking the place of the MSIA line. I think PVC will only be on parts like the head lasers, and maybe ventral fins. HCM, 1/100 Metal FIX, and SHCMpro seem to be the profitable action figure lines from Bandai, and most of these are composed of ABS as opposed to PVC, so I think most of the VF100s line will be predominantly ABS/POM with minimal PVC. If parts for transofrmation cannot be stored on the valk, I at least hope a stand is included that is like a mini-SOC/Soul Spec stand; one that can store all necessary parts. Doubtful. The only ones collectors would stand for would be the VF-19 models, the VF-1 and 2SS are far outdated, even the Toynami 1/100 toys are better than the Bandai 1/100 VF-1 variable kits.

Transformers Super Thread 7
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Looked like metallic bluish aquamarine. I am hoping for metallic navy blue, orange/amber canopy, and black tailfins. -
Okay folks Bandai is supposed to show their Origin Of Valkyrie toys at chara hobby expo this weekend, and yet unsurprisingly, I have found no pictures or news. Instead sites are taking pics of the Frontier lines, and VF100s line. Cool, but...come on now, I want chunky news! Post news, links, and pics here! Anyone can tell a chunky from any other VF-1 toy and model, so its not hard to figure out. The DYRL Max w/super packs was released recently, as well as Hikaru, and it definitely looks like the prototypes were in ultraviolent white, but the actual production toys are in light grey, like the first two Origin of Valkyrie releases. I can deal with this..I need to see it in person, I do like the grey that was used, but ultraviolent purple looks excellent on the DYRL skull chunkies. God I hope a Strike, Super O, VF-1D, and ELINT were shown at Chara hobby as future releases! CHUNKY FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And come on when Macrossworld first started, most of the members here were chunky fans. I still am! I am loyal to the chunkiness!

True, but this is Bandai...I wouldn't be surprised if they make the Blazer valkyries. God those things looked awesome. Hey wait...this is actually a great opportunity for me, I liked the sculpt of the old variable Macross 7 models from bandai and just realized those were 1/100 too! That kicks ass...if these VF19's look as good as those models..I'll be able to play away with no worries!(My fire valkyrie broke rather quick....nice model...definitely not to be played with, as I found out in 7th grade)

I think Ozma's armor will come both seperately, and in a giftset with his valk during spring. The seperate pack could have stickers for Alto's, as his has red highlights instead of yellow, and vice versa for the super armor that will be released seperately. Since undoubtedly the GPB will be expensive to tool, I would not be surprised if Bandai tries making the most money from it by offering it in bundles and seperately.

Most of the time. He did blow them off in episode 2 before proceeding to kick the poo out of a vajra. Then we did see it unarmored in a hangar during one episode. Then the one where Basara was singing, he blew the armor off and killed ass when fighting the vajra. I think his armor is inevitable, and will be sold seperately, because Alto does use that armor too, eventually(episode 16 I think). The GBP is much bigger than the Super parts, and I think due to that, tooling/sculpting/engineering is taking significantly longer.

I have no doubt in my mind that Bandai's 1/100 VF-1 will completely destroy the Toynami version with regard to which one is better. It's like the master pushing an apprentice aside and saying "watch boy, this is how its done". Still...VF-19S? HOLY SHIET. Yea the S isn't listed but come on...if VF-19 tooling will be made, it can't just be for Basara, especially if tooling can be shared with minimal retool. Oh man kick ass. So the numbers covered up a while back on their blog may have actually been "VF100s" as opposed to "VF-19S" as I originally thought. Its awesome that no one saw this coming too. Now I hope each part has storage somewhere in each mode, I can reluctantly deal with a partsformer so long as each swap part has a place to go on the toy, I hate losing parts!

VF-25 1/100 transformable toy thread
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Toys
Thanks man, that actually reminds me of the 1/100 Macross 7 variable model kits they made years back. If all the parts have some place to store on the body in each mode, then I will pick these up, if not, maybe I won't. -
VF-25 1/100 transformable toy thread
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Toys
Argg....damn!!! Well...it was a possibility given the size, but dissapointing to me nonetheless. Seems like a nice size to play with, price for us seems to be $46 or so +shipping. For now, I am dissapointed with the sculpt of the battroid mode. I want to see the final prototype images, its in resin now so that might be way it can't be posed very well in those shots. Something seems off to me, like the shoulders seem too high. The vertical stabilizers might fold the same way the ventral fins on Yamato's new 1/60 fold; pulling the fin out a centimeter or so and then folding. That would explain the lack of a visible hinge. I think it depends...if its as durable as the chunkies, my head will not only explode, but we will have an awesome, highly playable toy. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Guys, again, look at the source of the rumor, a newbie who posted and misread something on another BBS. I think if this were an exclusive, Save, Renato, or someone else would have beat that guy to the punch and told us already. No offense to the new guy, but speculation tends to drive people nuts in these parts. This guy FTGDW. Salute! -
Interesting, Thanks Roger.

Looks like the Max type is in grey.

VF-25 1/100 transformable toy thread
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Toys
Especially because they are made of resin, which is heavier than the production plastic. I don't want to speculate too much, but if the vertical stabilizer section has to be swapped out, that might mean extensive parts swapping. These toys remind me of the Eureka 7 figures Bandai made a few years ago. -
Ah yes...the spring loaded gun that actually fires projectiles very far....damn speaking of which, after losing a couple of missles after shooting them off, I decided to not even use the ones from my Origin of Valkyrie VF-1J! I kept them on the sprue. Too much risk. That gun works damn well though.

KICK ASS! See that people? News that actually has to do with the damn toy. Thats what I'm talking about. Thanks for the translation man. For this thread, I think all irrelevant(as in, model kit) posts/pics could be deleted, and all newsworthy images/blurbs be posted on the 1st page, as well as the page they were posted on initially. That way one need not post on the 1st page to get all the news, but could, as an option. I am anxious to see more 1/55 Origin of Valkyrie releases, the new 1/100s, and the extent of their parts swapping(please just be the landing gears....!), and especially the DX's.

Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
You know, we should all stop worrying, we are going off of a rumor perpetuated by a guy that just signed up and may have misread a blurb in the BBS he saw the scan at. No offense guy. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The magazine that the scan is from is for Yamato fans club only/japanese fanbase. The VF-1D will be available all over japan, so that means the etailers that we normally go to will be carrying it, its just a matter of when. -
For me, I am in VA, used EMS, and from the date of shipping confirmation, it took 6 days.
