Poll: Is your v.2 1/60 VF-1S broken or perfect?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to miriya's topic in Toys
Its actually extremely easy to do. Pull on the back, this will make the swing bar bend at an angle(notice that there is a joint immediately before the hip bar which it is attached to). Then swing both legs forward simultaneously. At this point, the nose latch should pop open and all you need to do is push the bar forward to release. -
Poll: Is your v.2 1/60 VF-1S broken or perfect?

I guessed right then! I mainly thought it was because so far, the 1A with looser shoulders has had no reported breakages. Thanks for the diagram man! Therefore, it is in our best interested(1S owners), to find a way to get the shoulder armor off, and loosen the screws. -

Doubt it, the only difference on the Ride Armors they imported was a sticker on the box, nothing else. This guy FTW Now...George Sohn said on collectiondx's SDCC pod cast that the Robotech chunkies will be made depending on demand. Well....just showing the VF-1D will not drive up demand, showing that and the DYRL trio would have(Strike, ELINT, Super O). It may not seem like it, but there is a good number of collectors that still want chunkies, aside myself. I'd be all over the Robotech versions, provided we get a TV Max type 1A, the VF-1D shown, and other interesting choices. I wouldn't care much for Kakizaki's 1A. I'd love to see an Angel Birds 1A. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
One is historic, the other is a copy, take your pick. Not to mention the former was designed more than 20 years ago, the other one was more recent, the latter has no excuse. While I think the MPC is a better toy than the first 1/60, the new 1/60 blows both away. The 1st 1/60 was an ambitious design but flawed. The new one is excellent, except for the shoulder hinge. I definitely like the new 1/60 far more than my 1st edition 1/60 VF-1A Hikaru from way back, and my 1/48 VF-1S Hikaru. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0

Honestly, since the part is easy to remove and install, unlike the shoulder hinge, I would just wait for the replacement part. -

Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Its not so much fear of breakage, its taking the initiative to reduce chances of breakage. I play with my toys quite often and unlike model kits, they survive my handling. Case in point, all of my plamo are broken; my 1/48 is still going strong 5 years later. My new 1/60 is still in one piece after numerous transformations, frequent posing, et al. So yea I'm having fun posing too! I just hate the hinge tension but all of you know my stance on that. -
YES, especially after seeing the VF-171X in episode 22, I'd buy Alto's!

Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I don't think its silly to loosen the shoulders up, Yamato did it with the 1A, and so far no breakages have been reported on that. No its trolling, you troll here and at toyboxdx, popping out of nowhere to post some images of new Macross toys from Yamato or randomly saying how bandai valks suck. Oh and everyone who bought the Yamato valk knows the risks, theres nothing wrong with pointing out problem prone areas on a toy for the sake of trying to help everyone out. -

The shoulders have loosened up considerably ever since I got the toy, because I do pose it often. Has anyone found a way to get the shoulder armor off? -

25th Anniversary G.I. Joes, Wave II
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Mog's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hey man, we got news the other day at HissTank, and G.I. Joe toys will be released in Australia next year. Not sure if its just the movie figures, or if it includes the anniversary/Modern era figures. The accurate parts for that Storm Shadow have actually been tooled, so I would not be surprised if an accurate one in those colors comes out next year. These new parts include new lower arms, new lower legs, and the backpack/weapons. The wave 12 Storm Shadow has all of these(I think the backpack too), but is in a v1 color scheme(white with cobra symbol on chest). Knowing Hasbro, and how they like to retool/repaint everything at least once, and that Storm Shadow has high brand recognition, chances are an accurate one will see release next year. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
There is a point where we have to see whether or not what we post is brutally honest, or apologetic. Those of us that have the new 1/60 VF-1S for the most part, agree that it is one of the most solid, durable releases Yamato has made, except for the shoulder hinge. The owners of the VF-1A so far have had no reported breakages. This is good. The culprit from my own deductions is the shoulders on the 1S being screwed in too tight at the factory. This is not a decision error nor user error. This is a factory error. Obviously if you have something that tight, the hinge it is on should be secure. This is not the case. Maybe the shoulders weren't supposed to be that tight? Who knows, that lends itself to being a factory error. It is what it is. No company improves if everyone just accepts what's given to them and blames themselves for breaking the toy. Yes there are some fans that inevitably will break something and it is their fault. Yet there are times that are unforseen, when a product will break. Some of the members here, who have had broken hinges are ones that had a ton of Yamato valkyries before, and knew what they were doing. Luckily only very few had the hinge break. Those of us that have the 1S know that if something were to break, it will probably be that. There are problematic areas that should be pointed out, that way the company is aware, and will try to rectify the areas as to eliminate the problem. Graham is going to talk to Yamato about the hinge. Yamato has eased tension on the hinge for the 1A. Maybe after Graham talks to them, and brings light of the situation to Yamato, they will make further improvements. Some may ask why we are so irritated about that hinge. Why dissapointed when the toy is so good in all other areas. Thats just it though; why can't it be good in all areas? Fix the shoulder hinge somehow, and you pretty much eliminate the most fragile area of the toy. The hip bar going from battroid back to fighter mode? HAH. Easy to remove. The shoulder hinge not breaking when you are posing the 1S in battroid mode? F%^uck! Good luck. Having to secure the hinge each time you want to pose the 1S, as a precaution is a pain in the ass. It dampers my delight at handling this toy. This is coming from someone that was all for the new 1/60 when most of you were dedicated to the 1/48 with its chicken hands and out of balanced proportions in gerwalk and battroid modes. This is coming from someone that looked forward to the new double jointed elbows with much delight. This is coming from someone that has Yamato, Bandai, and Toynami valkyries of all kinds. These are not porcelain toys, or variable resin kits. What you say applies to those. The Yamato's are not all that fragile. I can man handle the 1/48 and to an extent the new 1/60. The 1/48 had bp8. On the new 1/60, its the shoulder hinge, but so far its just on the VF-1S. Sure they don't have the durability of transformers, but even then you have to ask, well "which ones?". There are a good number of alternator transformers that will break long before the 1/48, or new 1/60 will break. This comes from a guy that has Masterpiece, Alternators, and Binaltechs. In my experience, the new 1/60 is much more durable than some Alternators. With Yamato, there are problematic areas, which if you can see early on, are easy to avoid. With the 1/60 VF-1S, that hinge did not need to be that fragile. Thats where a lot of the disappointment stems from. I'd love to recommend the new 1/60 without any recommendations on what to avoid, but I simply can't. Most of all, I do not want mine breaking. Yes I take the steps to prevent the hinge from breaking but I really shouldn't have to. This is not laziness, this is common sense. We aren't handling display items or variable garage kits, we are handling a toy meant to be transformed and posed. Some way, somehow, Yamato always has somethings that stop themselves short of perfection. The shoulder hinge is one of them. -

Why bother? Anyways I hope we see the Strike before the end of the year. Bandai showed off a vintage one at a show earlier this year, and the only reason I think they would do that is to show things to come. If they bring back the Strike they will come. By they I mean the fans that have waited for one since the 80's, and either had one but something happened to it, or never had one. I am in the latter category. -

I think mine is like that too. These are actually strong on the 1S, but it seems the shoulders are looser on the 1A, and judging from what you said, are less likely to break. -

Styrofoam over the plastic tray? More like other way around. Good, I am all for it. The more license holders, the more variety, the higher the competition, the prices go down too. -

Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
More articulation is better for us, but if it leads to breakage, then it cancels out. Extra articulation is redundant if there is breakage; you can't move what is no longer on the toy. No one here is against the extra articulation, they simply don't think its worth it at the cost of potential breakage. There we go That would still mean that the Focker version is more prone to breaking due to the shoulders being tight. When its all said and done, I think thats the actual culprit in all of this. The 1A's shoulders are looser, the 1S are very tight. There have been reported breakages for the 1S, but none for the 1A. Some of the fans who bought the 1A bought the 1S previously. So I am leaning more on the shoulders being too tight at the factory rather than user error. This is the very same reason I am trying to figure out how to remove the shoulder armor in an effort to loosen the shoulder screws. That way I can see for myself if easing the tension really helps or not. I am all for the extra articulation, I just don't want mine breaking in the future. Honestly I think its better for all of us to be brutally honest when it comes to stuff like this, if it makes Yamato aware, and they rectify the problem, then thats better for all of us. If anyone thinks I have an anti-Yamato bias, read my comments on the Aoshima Legioss I picked up last month. -
Poll: Is your v.2 1/60 VF-1S broken or perfect?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to miriya's topic in Toys
Because its the only thing keeping the hinge/shoulders in place in gerwalk, and battroid modes. If its filed down, the hinge will immediately swing downwards in battroid mode, making the shoulders lower than the chest. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Same here man! As much as Yamato improves, something always stops them short of greatness. It's like "hey look at this new articulation, awesome! Wait a minute.....damn...having to brace these things each time just to prevent potential breakages is a chore....". I can definitely see why that damn hinge dampers enjoyment of the toy. I think what they were aiming for was more sideways articulation, which it definitely has, but forgot that it might be a very fragile piece that can break if not supported. The 1/48 shoulder hinge is far more durable but lacks the sideways articulation, it just remains secured in place. For me, it doesn't make me avoid it, but it makes me a lot more cautious when handling it, which sucks because its such a solid toy that begs to be played with;except for that god damn hinge -

Thats the thing though, none of us know how to install the part in question. To make things easier you'd have to remove the entire hinge assembly, so that you have more room to hammer in the pin. However none of us have figured out how to remove the assembly. -

It's a wonderful release, I love mine. I had a lot of fun taking the time to sticker it up. The only thing I don't like is that one of the wings is a little loose. It ratchets fine sweeping back and forth, but in battroid mode, when its swept all the way back, if you lean it towards the side, it moves a few centimeters or so. No big deal though. The heat shield makes more difference than I thought, I'm glad this version has it.
