  1. The 1/48 is definitely lighter but not by much. Right now my 1/60 is near my Hasbro MP Starscream which is bright white, and my origin of valkyrie VF-1J which is definitely grey, and my 1/60 is darker than the former, but lighter than the latter.
  2. You're welcome! I have a 1/48 and while it was good for its time, and still a great toy, the new 1/60 overall has tighter joints, and looks much better in poses. It looks very reminiscent of how it appears when moving onscreen, and the 1/48 never looked as good with its more skeletal proportions. Also, is it me, or is Yamato actually molding their 1/60 VF-1's in a greyish white? At first I thought mine was bone white, with a hint of yellow, then bright white, now, the more I look at it, it has a dimmer tint. If there really is a grey additive, then I am happy since this thing will not yellow! Plus..grey>white
  3. I took this shot yesterday and one thing that has never changed about the 1/55, is that its a great subject for pics. I love this thing!
  4. To show the poseability...check out the ability to recreate this oft used pose from the TV show Also, after 2 days of performing the shoulder fix, I have found no problems and I have not needed to brace the shoulders much at all, yet the arms still hold their poses. The FAST pack arm armors are light, so it shouldn't weigh the arms down too much, I just put them on and felt barely any difference. Now if you put the GPS-1 arm armor on....yep, that will be the true test.
  5. For David and others that wanted the pics to show which parts to grab to lift the shoulder armor off...
  6. It is one of the black buttons near the torso.
  7. Its not the dealer's fault if the toy(s) in question are defective.
  8. I wouldn't buy GNU fighters. I wasn't a fan of the Doyushas either. See, with me, I don't mind buying a non transforming robot figure of a transforming mecha. A figure is articulated and can be put into poses, and with the respective lines such as Revoltech and the current GNU-Do, those figures have consistency with all the other figures. The VF100 line from Bandai looks like it might have better articulation than Revoltech/GNU, and at that, are variable albeit parts swapping. So for me, though I dislike parts swapping, I would rather have a VF100 over a GNU fighter. Chances are both would be just as accurate over the other, but the former would still be able to transform. Thats just me though.
  9. I know of a few guys that have that many, but I haven't even seen these in person yet!
  10. I think people want the Rattler more because Wild Weasel is a more popular and recognizable character, and the Rattler was one of the first Cobra vehicles. It is also the first Cobra jet. The Conquest was not the first gijoe jet, and Slipstream is nowhere near as popular as Ace or Wild Weasel. Plus, as a toy, the Rattler's got a lot more going for it. Its a VTOL A-10, has a rear gunner canopy, its the most creative cobra jet ever concieved.
  11. Wasn't it a lot more than 20?
  12. To me its a stupid idea because you would be wasting money on account of being impatient. Just save up for the 1J. Hopefully it has even more improvements than the 1A. The 1A Hikaru is beautiful and surprisingly hard to resist but thats if one of your favorite characters is Hikaru. DYRL made the 1A look bad ASS. In the show, the 1A looked so bloated. Then you get the scene in DYRL before Hikaru blows his armor off and tells off Misa. THAT scene showed an incredible drawing of the 1A. It went beyond from cannon fodder to GOD DAMN AWESOME LOOKING. In conclusion just save up for the 1J. Its just 2 months.
  13. I WANT THEM ALL DAMN IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Collecting the Chunkies makes me feel like a kid again. God damn it FTW
  14. They've already loosened the shoulders on the VF-1A Hikaru, and so far no breakages have been reported.
  15. 20+ years later and no matter how improved Yamato has become in qc and technoligical advancements, they have yet to make a valkyrie built as durable as the 1/55. Sure people will say there have to be compromises, but with toy technology advancing rapidly through the years, there is no excuse. Until the day someone makes a valkyrie as durable as a takatoku/bandai and as detailed as a Yamato, no one has made a better VF-1 valkyrie toy than Takatoku/Bandai. For a chunky to look good back then, and just as good now says a lot about the timeless aspect of the mold, it cannot be said for many of the toys made around the same era. G1 Prime, DX Mazinger Z, DX Ideon, DX et al, all have had modern counterparts that were much more refined, detailed, and just as, if not more durable than their older counterparts. The VF-1 Valkyrie? Not yet. I think Yamato is capable of doing so but they have not just yet. With that said, I think Toynami should just go ahead and announce what they have planned. There are a lot of people who would preorder the Strike/ELINT/Super O/VF-1D valks once they are announced.
  16. No, I want one too! I even want a VVV version done right!(The VVV version had awesome artwork, but the figure SUCKED!)
  17. Just perform the fix I mentioned in the other thread man, slide the shoulder armor off, and loosen the shoulder screws to your heart's content! That way, you just have to worry about lifting the shoulder hinge over the stopper during transformation, rather than worry about the arms breaking during posing.
  18. Not extremely tight, just be careful. Basically the reason I was able to pop off the armor is because the pins are on the top halves of the armor, not the bottom. Just be gentle. There are 2 pins I believe on the top of the shoulder armor. The pins and pegs are 2 different things. The pegs are wide and short, and are only on the shoulder so that the armor can be kept in place. They are only on there so that the armor does not pop off when you slide it up and down. None of the pins on the armor go onto the shoulder in any way.
  19. It's piloted by Alto though, and once the 171 mold is tooled up we could get..... -VF-171EX Alto type -RVF-171EX Luca type -VF-171 NUNS -RVF-171 NUNS -VF-171 special VF-17 Diamond Force colors I can see it happening.
  20. No problem guys! Glad I could help. See for me, its irritating to have a toy that is so awesome but have some nuisance piece/parts drag it down. I was determined to find a way to stop those pieces from ruining my satisfaction! I do NOT want any breakages! For now I will do my best to describe it. Basically the shoulder armor consists of 2 or more pieces, held by pins, primarily by friction. Friction is the only thing keeping the armor together. The armor is like a polycap, held onto the shoulder by tension. You have to gently lift on of the bottom corners of the shoulder armor from the inside. Then slide it off. There are 2 pegs on the shoulder, but they are wide, and short, the indentations of the shoulder armor go over those. What you need to worry about are the pins connecting the shoulder armor, which is why you have to be very gently when lifting the bottom corners up, and sliding the armor off. Basically the armor feels a lot more complicated than it actually is. By moving it, it gives the impression that there are interlocking pieces within the shoulder assembly itself, but this is not the case, the shoulder armor is more like an outer sleeve slid over the shoulder, but held by tension. Basically when the corners or corners are gently lifted, pull the armor up, and off of the shoulder. A good rule of thumb on tightness is this; if you try to move the shoulder without much force, and its tight enough to where it does not budge, you should loosen the shoulder screws. From what I gather, this is mainly on the VF-1S Focker. Looks like the factory workers already loosened the screws for the 1A Hikaru, and from here on out broken shoulder hinges should not be a problem.
  21. VF-1S owners: Alright I figured out how to ease the tension on the shoulder hinge. The shoulder armor only stays on due to friction on both sides, so gently lift one side and slide it off. Make sure not to lift too hard since the pegs that connect the armor can break. Afterwards, you have access to both screws that keep the shoulder on. Grab a screw driver, and loosen the screws just a tad, you barely have to screw the screws in to keep the shoulder loose or tight, so each time you loosen or tighten the screws, move the shoulders and tighten/loosen to your tastes. You don't want the shoulders too loose, but certainly not as tight as applied at the factory. Basically you want it between a point where its not so tight as to put too much pressure at the hinge, and not so loose that it can't even hold the gunpod up. The way I have mine set up now, there isn't so much pressure on the hinge, the shoulders are not too loose, and can hold position. They move much better now. In conclusion, while I like the new articulation and this is my favorite VF-1 toy by Yamato, I still think it was a stupid decision to put such a weak shoulder hinge in place without much to secure it in place as to prevent breakage. Hopefully this is rectified in the future. Yes the looser shoulders on the 1A is an improvement, and so is loosening the shoulders on the 1S, but there could be more durable mechanism in place.
  22. Pull on the back, this will angle the swing bar. Then pull both legs downwards simultaneously. This will pop the nose hatch open. Then, just push the hip bar foward and its out.
  23. The funny thing is, I would not be surprised if the wave 12 version is repainted next year into the v2 colors(accurate 88 version). The only part missing so far is the belt of pouches on that version. Quick recap of news so far this week: -Hasbro debuts a new commercial for vehicles, seems most fans like the vintage vehicles shown rather than the new ones(it starts off with Skystrikers flying off the Flagg, and a Night Raven before showing the new vehicles. -Alley Viper listing showed up today, along with more Omega Force(G.I. Joe Resolute figures) -Conquest and Rattler started to arrive both in stores, and to those who preordered. 2 dates floating around are 9/20 and 11/7. I honestly don't know what the hell is going down. I don't think these will be as hard to come by as the first 3 target exclusive vehicles, as the main competition consists of well, ourselves. If anything I think the demand of these should give a message to mass market that big vehicles like these planes(and the Skystriker, the 3 of which really aren't that big) need not be exclusives to sell. I was not surprised Target picked these up as exclusives, but more surprised that these were not mass market. Its not even xmas season yet and already people are panicking. With that said, I hear the sticker quality sucks. -Joseph Gordon-Levitt gave some new information on the G.I. Joe:Rise of Cobra movie, and on his role in it as Cobra Commander. There is a mask, but no classic hood. Rather than relying on CG, much of his mask consists of prosthetic makeup that took hours to apply. Basically just go to the hisstank.com frontpage, as it was updated frequently this week. I was amazed at the amount of news these past few days.
  24. Actually I think there is a chance, since Alto flies one, and his is customized. If Bandai is making a DX RVF-25 for that useless POS Luca, then I think theres a chance the hot headed hero Alto's 171EX will be made.
