  1. Bandai's got the money to make multiple test shots. If the toy ends up extremely durable and still maintains full articulation, then thats good for me. I don't mind the inaccuracies, just like I didn't give a damn that Yamato's YF-21 ended up slender in battroid mode. I forsee some changes made to the prototypes, I will not be surprised if the landing gear end up looking much better and accurate than we are currently seeing. I don't want to see the extremely long mosquito landing gear that the model has. From different angles they look too long. The rear gears should get more details and fine molding, and the front gear just needs to be a bit taller. Maybe telescoping with a locking mechanism.
  2. Still waiting for newer pics of the 1/60, rather than seeing the model kit pics in this thread.
  3. I think that was just assumed, I have never heard a translation saying that.
  4. Compare the $20 Movie Starscream and the VF-25 and one looks like a jet, one looks like an F-22 with inaccurate vertical stabilizers, a huge undercarriage, 2 huge arms to cover up the fact and gaps all over. Lets even compare the $25 Silverbolt who is more recent...yup..jet with huge undercarriage yet again.
  5. Which they said as a response to years of this place turning into YamatoWorld and how Yamato makes accurate looking toys with fixable arms that might break but can still be fixed. And after 8 years, the YF-19 Yamato made still has a gullet. The landing gear look like ass on the model. Too long. Yes in the anime no one knows which one is more accurate, but the toy gear just needs to be a little longer and it will look good, not the mosquito looking gear on the model. Simple, if it was labeled Yamato, people would have that attitude, anything else?=Fail I hope the 25 turns out well, I don't think it looks bad aside the landing gear. I like the bulky appearance in battroid mode on the DX. I can see why the battroid fans are dissapointed though. Even if the test shot shown reaches final production(yeah even if I know it won't), it still does not look as inaccurate as the DX Macross 7 valks everyone seems to be likening these too. It isn't the most accurate but its not ugly to me. Its not like certain $20 Transformers that were mentioned here, not even freaking close, and being a guy that has the Transformers in question? Yeah, not even close.
  6. I heard its at the very end; you either choose to fight the emperor and stop him from killing Kota, or you leave him be and go fight Vader for a second round
  7. I have reviewed the Conquest My review
  8. Thats how mine was too. I had to pop the head off to even see it. What I hate about the new Rattler is that Wild Weasel is still difficult to get into the cockpit. Man each time I hear about the planes selling out, I keep thinking...man...I think the Skystriker would outsell these bad boys! I'd love to see it modded(like all the new vehicles have been) so that the wing swinging mechanism remains, but is no longer linked to the landing gear. A Skystriker dogfighting without being able to sweep its wings forward in DACM without the gear going down? Thats a damn shame. All the Skystriker really needs is a more durable tabbing/insertion method for the tailfins. Thats it. The rest of the plane was durable to begin with. Drop test my ass!
  9. The only reason that stuff was said was because every other member here tends to say the exact same thing about Yamato, despite the breakages, despite the irritating faults despite improved qc, et al. With that said there is no reason to believe that Kawamori wouldn't have treated Yamato the same as Bandai(requesting changes). I've heard people over and over again comparing the new VF-25 to the DX Macross 7 toys from 1994, and there simply is no comparison. The DX VF-25 does not look as inaccurate to its animation appearance as the DX VF-19's. Not even close. In fact, it looks closer to its animation counterpart than the 1/55 VF-1 and 1/72 HCM were to the VF-1 lineart. Sure there are already a good amount of members here that say the Yamato VF-25 would "show Bandai how its done". Not surprising considering the loyal dedication to that company, by many members here. Or should I say most. Given the recent toys that Yamato has brought out, we could very well be looking at a VF-25 with such improved shoulder articulation but broken arms that you must pay HLJ $15 for a replacement, if the arm breaks. At the end of the day I want a good, durable toy. I love the new 1/60 VF-1 by Yamato but damn, the steps I took to try to avoid breakage, should not be necessary. As I've pointed out before, Bandai makes durable toys for the most part, and the VF-25 is not as inaccurate as previous Bandai valkyries. I look at it the same way as CM's Legioss; a unique take on the design. Besides Kawamori might have requested the changes, and by that maybe Yamato's would have looked the exact same way. Bandai is a good company, its not like the quality on this toy will be like that of the Aoshima Legioss. I expect a unique take on the design, a durable toy, and while it may not be completely accurate, it should last for a long time. Despite the inaccuracies, I do like its more balanced, bulked up appearance. The VF-25 is a frail looking mecha.
  10. Yes but just the first one, the translation vifam gave us indicates that there are still changes to be made.
  11. Wild Weasel just has a blue neck, the comic pack one has black, thats the only difference. Great mold...so good Hasbro is starting to use it on other figures...maybe a bit too much to some. I'm waiting for the Copperhead that comes with the upcoming Moccassin, its the Python Patrol version but I only need one version of that character. I heard a lot of good things about them. I think they are glossy. The price is the only thing stopping me, they cost just a few dollars less than the planes themselves! I can understand why the price is what it is, but for now, I'll deal with what I have. The stickers on my Conquest are fine for the most part, but on the Rattler they started peeling! I was pissed. I used a hair dryer to heat the stickers up, and rubbed the peeled edges onto the surface. So far nothing has peeled back up. I hope this is not something that I have to do periodically. Man I don't know why hasbro went with the matte stickers. The stickers on the 98 reissues kicked ass. Glossy. My 98 Conquest barely has sticker erosion, and that badboy has been through a lot of play time. Even now, I have it as Ace's ride, and have dogfights going on a lot. I like using it as an aggressor bird, with Ace being the dean of smack, and occasionally helping Slipstream out. I also swap weaponry with the 97 A-10 sometimes, to make it a strike Conquest! The SEA influenced camo and the swapped weaponry evoke vietnam era fighters, which I LOVE studying. Cobrastickers has the 2003 Conquest stickers up for order too...that with a repainted Conquest in USAF SEA camo...oh man...THAT WOULD KICK ASS!!!!!!!!!!! The Conquest reminds me of the Thunderchief for some reason.
  12. Me, as it makes it obvious that the fighter mode was emphasized on the 1/48 and that the other modes seemed like an afterthought. Sure the other modes aren't terrible but they are lacking. On the 1/60, not only do we have something more accurate, but more balanced, this is something I love on the 1/55.
  13. Basically fiddling with continuity. For example with the head design for the VF-25, the DX head sculpt is different from the animation model, due to Kawamori's requested changes. We can say Kawamori retconned the head design. If there is ever an artbook for Macross F we will probably see the differences laid out between the animation model, and what Kawamori truly sees as canon. Basically he has final say, these are his babies. Looking at the new photos, it doesn't seem like this one is different from the grey one shown last month. Nonetheless I still think we will see more refinements. The front landing gear should be a little longer but nothing close to the model kit, which have gears that are far too long. The landing gear in the anime are portrayed differently, I hope Kawamori requests a more balanced look for the gear, instead of the tall model kit versions, and the current short ones on the toy.
  14. Its all going to depend on the complexity of the designs.
  15. The green is accurate to DYRL though. Blue/grey was TV accurate. Nice review man, I enjoyed it! Man I want this toy. I plan on getting it later this year. I love how its straight to the point, guaranteed goodness. I also love how the skulls were printed on the FAST packs!
  16. Knowing how it was all on him that the head design was different from the anime, and that he has retconned designs that both Yamato and Bandai have worked on, I would not be surprised. Its like Yamato is working on the new VF-11, and he decides to retcon the size. Then Bandai starts working on the VF-25, then Kawamori decides he wants the head to be different.
  17. I disagree with that, I do like the longer nose on the 1/48 in fighter mode, no doubt, but in battroid and gerwalk the new 1/60 nails it. The articulation is much better too. Overall aesthetic is much more balanced. The 1/48 has a huge chest but skinny arms and tiny hands. The 1/60 has a much more balanced look, highly reminiscent of its appearance in the anime.
  18. Okay, I heard there are 5 endings, and some sites say 2, which is correct? Apparently the way to obtain either ending is making a decision at the last stage, either try to stop Palpatine from killing, or leave him be, and take on Darth Vader again. You get the jedi ending if you decide to fight Palpatine, you get the dark side ending if you decide to let Palpatine do his thing and take on Darth Vader instead. I got the jedi ending...wondering if there really are 5 different endings.
  19. Looks like the DX is going for a more balanced appearance. Some have complained about the landing gear being too short, I think on the kit it is too long. Vifam's translation says this the 1st testshot with more refinement to come. Bandai is a bigger company that can afford the refinements, so there is a good chance that what we see here is not indicative of the final toy.
  20. Man just have Kawamori retcon the tailfins to fold sideways, I don't care about them being exposed in battroid mode just so long as they are large in fighter mode.
  21. No. Yamato did not tighten the 1A's shoulders as much as on the 1S. So far there are only reported breakages on the 1S, none on the 1A, that goes for this forum and toysdaily(so far from what I've browsed). Everytime I look at my strike valk posed in a dynamic stance...I realize how sexy this damn sculpt is. Looks awesome. Need a Max Type 1A TV version, I want to have it displayed in the pose after he defeated Milia. Awesome. A few things I want added to these toys in future versions aside a more durable shoulder hinge are detents for the wings. The 1/48 had them, the old 1/60 had them, there is no reason the new one shouldn't have them.
  22. If Kawamori can retcon the size of the VF-11, he can sure as hell retcon the folding mechanism of the vertical stabilizers! Small vertical stabs SUCK! They sucked back on the original toy, and will still suck now!
  23. The load times that pop up every time you want to change lightsaber options, costumes, or upgrade the force SUCK!
  24. Why did you loosen the screw highlighted? Was that the one you thought you should be loosened to ease tension in the shoulders? The screws we loosened are the ones on the shoulder itself, which eases tension on the hinge while posing the arm. Also did you move the hinge by itself, or was the arm attached when you were moving it(the replacement hinge)?
