  1. Just wondering, but when transforming to gerwalk from fighter, did you make sure to lift the shoulder hinge above the stopper when you swiveled it into position?
  2. What I am getting at is combat relevance. Max's most important scenes had him using the VF-1A.
  3. That plane, even with SUPER parts was not significant in combat though, all it did was give Max a more flashy looking valkyrie to fly.
  4. Yea but you are the same guy that is willing to pay to fix something that is broke. You are the one who made the quote "you can fix broke, but you can't fix ugly". Probably true
  5. Wasn't there talk not too long ago about how once Yamato puts something into the CAD stage, that what we are seeing is pretty much what we are getting? No I think they know what compromises they have to deal with and that is why they are giving us 3 choices, get the model, the 1/100 or the DX. I am glad we have variety. When has any company done that for Macross? None since Takatoku. Now I've already said what I want fixed on this toy, if they don't fix the crotch it's dissapointing, the gaps between the legs make me think that the legs are simply not raised up high enough. Also the fact that we have not seen the refined test shots that have been mentioned. Overall though, it is not enough to prevent me from buying the toys. To me, something can look good even if it is not accurate. Same reason I like the CMS Legioss. No if something is completely off like the DX Macross 7 toys, yes then I have reservations but the DX 25 looks good to me.
  6. None of those will fix the VF-11 stabilizers. The translation vifam provided a while back said that the test shot was early, and that improved ones would be shown later, the full color pics shown yesterday seem to be of the very same test shot, I hold hope that the ones we have seen are not final.
  7. Hey I hope the problems on both toys are fixed. I've already said what I wanted to see fixed on the 25, I'm just hopeful.
  8. Kawamori might also not give a hoot what Yamato thinks. The man is hard to track down, it might be because he doesn't want to be bothered making toys. Hell I'd be made if a company that makes toys on my designs keeps making stuff with flawed first releases, with something going wrong nearly all the time, and if a great release has a less than warm reception on account of a dumbass at the factory deciding to put pins in the wrong way resulting in arms falling off. At the same token the VF-25 toy may have turned out the way it did because of his requests. Plus..lately look at the Yamato VF-11 and the tiny tailfins shown in the 1/60 CAD. Those are absolutely terrible, and if he approved those tiny things, well maybe he just doesn't care anymore. Even if Yamato was doing the 25, he may have asked for the same changes he asked from Bandai. Pretty much. Perfection my a55, look at the tailfins on the new VF-11 and the broken arm VF-1S 2.0 Maybe perfection in looks, but that's about it, and even then, the only one that aimed for a balanced look was the new VF-1, everything else before emphasized the fighter mode, and the new VF-11's fighter mode is disappointing due to tiny tail fins. To play with the big boys, you have to up the quality control. Yes they have improved. No it still isn't perfect. Yes you can fix an arm but shouldn't have to pay $30 more to do so and fix a new toy out of the box. I hold hopes that the final test shots of the 25 have detailed, longer landing gear, provision for installation of a 2nd cockpit, and of course, accurate hip placement.
  9. He gained weight in the DDP series
  10. The YF-19 isn't supposed to have a large gullet at all, and to me is a lot more bothersome. I'm not pulling punches for each side, I'm calling it like I see it. I'm not even sure if what we are seeing is definitely indicative of the final toy, I'll wait until someone gets the production toy overseas in 2 month and gives us the brutally honest review with pics. The main things I worry about are the hip placement, and landing gear. I want accurate hip placement, perhaps via a sliding, interlocking joint. Then I want landing gear that are not mosquito like. like the ones on the model, and not too short like we saw on a previous test shot. Hell even the guys who built the kits in HLJ cut down some of the insertion tabs for the landing gear.
  11. Doubt it, I see hinges where the intake area meets the gullet, and the gullet area can hide internal hinges.
  12. Looks like the gullet on this thing is moveable, notice in fighter mode it is much sleeker than in gerwalk. The intakes do move downwards in gerwalk mode, and the gullet might actually move with them too. So the gullet only looks bad to me in gerwalk mode, in fighter mode, it is far superior to the YF-19's gullet.
  13. It's because the toys are damn beautiful and whenever they get increase durability there is always one annoying thing that brings releases down and takes things a step back, like the shoulder issue on the Focker 1S 1/60 2.0. I do hope Bandai has designed a mechanism or hinge in the hips that make the legs accurate and thighs sit lower in relation to the crotch.
  14. I think with both Bandai and Yamato, flashy designs that are more visually appealing are catered to more than combat relevance. For example Max's TV VF-1A was used in Max's most important episodes, yet the only toy coming out in japan is an extremely limited edition version that you can only get via a special promotion. Yet his DYRL 1A is always made, as well as his 1J. Sure the 1J was given when he was promoted, and he used it to escort Komilia in a space baby carriage. In the end, his 1J is mainly relevant because it was flashy and indicative of his rank promotion. Even hasegawa has yet to release Max's TV 1A, and they are a model kit company.
  15. So the only piece of f^%&*ing news is that the soundtrack will be out this week.
  16. I've been thinking, maybe Yamato should utilize the old shoulder hinge design from the old 1/60 toy. That seemed to be made out of POM, and we NEVER had any reported breakages for it. The difference being mainly in shape. The shouler hinge itself had 2 pegs molded on, that plugged into an upper, and lower socket, rather than having one single pin go into 3 pieces. It is hard to explain if most of you have not seen what the old 1/60 hinge looked like.
  17. Ozma is the best pilot in the series, but for a guy that just started flying VF's, Alto does not seem like the typical newbie. The guy is courageous, his valks do get damaged but even if he gets hit, he still keeps coming back. He puts up a hell of a fight early on in the series, and continues to towards the end. I think he was definitely a better pilot than both Luca and Michel, despite his lower rank. Those two didn't show very much piloting skills, just skill in sniping and surveillance if anything. The few times Luca did try to fight, he got owned, and Michel didn't do much piloting, instead, he mainly sniped. Alto was the one who used his VF for just about everything, made use of it's modes more, overall I think he was a better pilot and close in combatant. I think it was planned that way from the start though, months back someone metioned how Ozma had the heavy weapons, Michel would snipe, Luca would spy, and how Alto was the main fighter. It makes sense. Alto's efforts in his fighters are admirable. He was not shabby the first time he took on Brera. He did alright against Klan's squad in mock combat. It's hard to say whether he was a better pilot than Hikaru though. Hikaru managed to destroy an entire Zentraedi recon ship by himself, fought Kamujin to a stand still, and did a whole bunch of other stuff. Alto does seem more intense to begin with though. It's as if he has the impulsiveness of Isamu, the courageousness of both Hikaru and Kakizaki(yeah he sucked as a pilot but he was brave), and the determination and older sibling mentality of Roy(for example when Alto is determined to defy orders and save Luca in episode 7).
  18. Hotshot looks awesome. The original toy sucks, this is a wonderful update. I hope Armada Starscream, Prime, and Megatron are not too far behind. Those characters had great designs, but inadequate toys for collectors, mainly due to lack of articulation. I hope Dinobot has his sword, at least, and that dino eye looks bad, a velociraptor should not have a "HUH?!!!" expression on his face. If Warpath has knee joints, I am buying him! Fully articulated tiny bot toys FTW. Now that's a damn good legends figure.
  19. Blue looks like Superman, the other one looks like it's either Hellboy or Deadman, all 3 of which are properties of DC, while Hellboy is property of Dark Horse, neither belong to Marvel, which is probably why they are all censored.
  20. That's because you didn't specify which screw. One guy that had a breakage for his replacement hinge thought we were talking about the screw in the back that lets the hinge pivot sideways. Exactly. There are reasons behind ugly, but no excuse for broke.
  21. Thanks man! I haven't seen those either. Get both man. The Conquest is great in v1 colors, and despite it's faults, is still worth buying. The Rattler is all around awesome, it's worth putting aside Star Wars vehicles in temporary storage to make way for it. The retooled mold is the best one yet.
  22. Its a similar price point, but the VF-25 is in the same size class as the YF-21, YF-19, VF-0, et al.
  23. I think the packs come with Michel and Luca, but Alto's is confirmed to be sold seperately(not sure if this is just initially), and Ozma will not come with armor either...(most of us think the heavy armor bundle is inevitable though).
  24. The shoulders are not as tight on the 1A and so far still no reported breakages. That and maybe the correct insertion of the metal pins in the shoulder hinges may have helped. I'm not sure on the latter but the looser shoulders definitely decrease the tension.
